Blog Tour: Bound for Keeps (Men of Honor book 5) by SE Jakes

They can’t deny the attraction...or the danger...

Since losing their beloved third to cancer, Keith Masters and Johnny Lou Reed haven’t thought about filling the void in their lives with anyone else. Until a stormy Christmas Eve, when a half-frozen, newly discharged Army Ranger shows up on their doorstep—with no memory of who he is or how he got there.

The former Marine in Keith is suspicious that he can’t turn up any information about Shane anywhere, not even an address. Direct questioning will have to wait until they’ve gotten the boy well.

Shane knows it’s only a matter of time before Keith and Reed figure out his past. And when they learn the depth and the darkness of the secrets he holds, he could get them all killed.

In the heat of the dark winter nights, the three men discover a passion that heals the gaping wounds in their hearts. And Shane wonders, despite the danger hot on his heels, how he will ever bear to leave...

Warning: Contains secrets, undercover operations and three hot, alpha military men who can set a cold winter night on fire.

Excerpt from Chapter Three

Keith sighed. “When he wakes—”

“You are not going to interrogate him.”

“You’re really going to owe me,” Keith told him mutinously as Reed moved
away and shrugged.

“Not a hardship,” Reed called over his shoulder as he walked across the hall
toward the guest room.

Through the open door, Keith watched his partner rub the young man down with water and alcohol. Managing fever on top of hypothermia took skill, but Reed had dealt with much worse.
After another hour of emails, including hearing back from Dan, his marshal contact, that all their WITSEC men and women were safe and sound, Keith got up and went to the doorway of the guest room, noting the flush of fever on Shane’s face had subsided somewhat. But the boy’s eyes still held that hazy, faraway look whenever they opened to Reed quietly saying, “Hey, Shane, can you open your eyes for me?” And then just as suddenly they’d close again and sleep would take him.
Reed looked up at him. “You okay?”
Keith put his hands up to grab the doorframe above his head, stretched himself as he gave an unconvincing, “Yeah.”
“You’ve got to admit this is weird,” Reed said finally. Of the three of them, he believed the least in that old legend about this house drawing those in need to it, but he couldn’t deny the oddness of this. “I mean, eight years to the day. To the hour.”
Keith shrugged. “’S’what the legend says. Travelers in need find their way here on this day at this time.”
“Like me.” Reed’s blue eyes shone in the soft light, the memories making him smile a little. His blond hair was on the longer side, and he was shorter than
Keith—six-two to Keith’s six-five, but his build was lankier. He was strong as hell, though, as Keith well remembered when he came to that night he woke on the living room floor and immediately tried to punch both Keith and Bobby.
Reed had war in his eyes. Sometimes, when he woke, he still did. He told Keith he always dreamed of the rain.
“There’s no one like you,” Keith told him. “We can’t keep him here longer than tomorrow.”
“There’s your suspicious side coming through,” Reed grumbled.

“You know I’m right to be cautious.”

“I know. He’s beautiful, though,” Reed murmured, and Keith rubbed a handover his shaved skull as he moved forward toward the bed and wondered what the hell they were doing not calling the police.
“Yeah, a beautiful con artist,” he muttered. Reed turned and shot him a sharp look as their patient suddenly opened his eyes and stared directly at Keith, a gaze that made him feel a sharp tug from gut to groin.
Fuck. It had been a mistake to let him in this far.
Shane struggled to sit up, but Reed was pressing his shoulders back down to the pillows. “Easy, big guy. You’ve been out of it for a while.”
Keith held out the cup of water and Shane took a greedy pull from the straw, until he coughed. Reed eased him back, covered him back up and waited until he’d caught his breath.
“What’s your name?” Keith asked.
Shane looked at him, a sudden confusion covering his handsome face. “It’s um...fuck.”
“Um fuck, huh?” Keith started, but Reed interrupted with a glare at Keith.
“It’s Shane Wills. Did you hit your head?”

“I don’t remember,” Shane admitted.
“What the hell were you doing out there?” Keith barked.
Shane pressed his lips together, shook his head as if attempting to clear it. “I don’t know.”
“What do you mean, you don’t know? It’s a simple question,” Keith asked, but Reed put a hand against his chest to stop him, asked instead, “What’s the last thing you remember, Shane?”

“I remember walking down a street in Philly...some guys hassled me and I fought them off, but not before I lost my wallet and they got in some good punches,” he started slowly. “A truck driver took pity on me—cleaned me up and took me as far as here, I guess. When he dropped me, he told me there was an inn a mile from here. And then I walked.”
Keith mentally cursed the driver for dropping this kid into the middle of nowhere in this weather. “No one’s ever found that inn.”
Because this is the inn.
He caught Reed’s eye and both men fought a smile.

“And before that?” Keith pushed Shane, who shook his head.

“I don’t remember. I’ve been trying to for the past few days—the whole
ride...I was panicked.”

“Maybe we should call the police—file a missing person’s report—” Reed
said.

“No!” Shane’s hand shot out, grabbed Reed’s wrist. “No.”

Keith’s eyes met Reed’s. No doubt about it—Shane was nothing but trouble.

Jerk of My Dream #7

Jerk. Asshole. Douchenozzle. Admit it- you hate to love the jerks. That alpha male character who is so arrogant and rude but sexy as hell. That foul mouthed douche bag of a man who rocks your traitorous heart. We've all read them and we've all liked them to some extent. In real life you wouldn't touch the man with a ten foot pole. But in the fictional world? Nothing can stand in the way! Everyone would be lying to themselves if they didn't admit that the meaner the man, the further we run... Towards them! *sigh*

That's what this weekly meme is about- those jerky delicious men! Each Friday this meme will go up, and you can share your jerk anyway you want: review, interview, lines and quotes, giveaway of a book. However you want! All you have to do is sign up HERE and follow the linky. Any time you comment on someones post, leave your link so that person can comment back.

Let's pretend this wall is my kindle...

I have never been so irritated (yet in love?) while reading a book!

One minute I wanted to punch my kindle and cut someone, the next I was all like...

Lexi contradicts herself
Ramsey is hiding shit
Jack...is being Jack! <3
Loads of sexual tension
Bekah is a whore
Chyna rocks!
A new guy
And I still loved it...
Lord.
Help.
Me.

Team Jack baby!

Avoiding Commitment is the first book in this series, and a tough act to follow. No joke. I loved it so much that I can honestly say it's one of my top favorite books. What the author did it me was...is..too hard to explain. All I know is that it's exactly what I look for in a book.

This book starts out with a bang! It picks up right where the first one left off. I couldn't put it down and when I did it was all I could think about. This book took over my life for the few days I was reading it and after I finished it too. K.A. Linde definitely has a way with words that grips you right from the start.

Lexi once again finds herself torn between two men. Jack, her first love and who is always ever presently on her mind. No matter what she does she can't seem to escape her past with him. And to be honest, I don't want her to forget it. I love the sexual tension and heat between them. I love the memories they shared. I love how all Jack has to do is look at Lexi with those penetrating blue eyes and she succumbs to his every need. I love how it's a now forbidden romance between them yet they can't fight the attraction...but they do. I just love them together!

Then there is Ramsey- Someone who unexpectedly works his way into Lexi's heart. He has the same sexual tension with Lexi as Jack does, but Ramsey is different and works to prove himself to her in this book. I was worried that Lexi wouldn't notice since she is so consumed with thoughts of Jack. The thoughts never stop until Ramsey comes into the picture and he makes her forget all the deceit and broken promises Jack made to her. But Ramsey will never be able to erase the past though...

The intensity between Lexi and Ramsey is powerful, but Lexi cautious with her emotions when it comes to trusting Ramsey after everything that's happened. He is very secretive and won't open to her which drove me bat shit crazy! Lexi is on guard 24/7 and has reason to be- what Ramsey is hiding is more than she ever thought.

Ramsey is no Saint! Wake up ladies! Read between the LINES!

One issue I had with this book was that I found it to be extremely repetitious, to the point where I was skimming. It made me want to cry over all the long winded thoughts Lexi had during conversations. They were drawn out and tedious, sometimes going on for pages. None of this was needed! Just about each chapter was filled with the same consuming thoughts of Jack. It's one thing to relive memories and events that happened, but it's another thing entirely to relive each one in nearly every chapter again and again. I already know it all.

What saved this book for me was the last 10% of the story. IT.WAS.AMAZING. I was reading as fast as I possibly could. I could not put it down yet nearly too much to handle! The end of the book leaves us hanging a bit...now I am dying to find out what happens! Oh, but Jack, what I wanted to do to you at the end for not speaking up...

All in all, I would still recommend this book. K.A. Linde is still my new favorite author of mine. Despite my issues, she still had me glued to each page and on the edge of my seat with wanting more. K.A. Linde was able to capture the love and fervor with this story as much as she did with Avoiding Commitment.

The perfect song for this book- Wide Awake by Katy Perry.

Book Blitz & Giveaway: Resisting the Bad Boy by Violet Duke

Vilolet-Duke

Abby Bartlett is the quintessential nice girl. Between teaching, volunteering, completing her PhD, and helping her best friend raise his daughter, Abby never gets the chance to be anything but nice. That is, until the all-wrong-for-her man she’s only ever known from afar starts daring her to simply take that chance for herself. His sage advice? Try something wild and fast.

Preferably him.

An unbridled, hotshot attorney with a not-so-little black book, Connor Sullivan has earned himself quite the bad boy reputation. But in his defense, he’s a very conscientious one. He knows far too well that sometimes in life, love isn’t enough…or worse, not even a factor at all. To avoid that misery—and repel the drama—Connor always makes his one and only rule crystal clear right from the start. Absolutely nothing more than a month.

Turns out, a whole lot can happen in one month.

Bio:
VIOLET DUKE is the pen name for Nina Nakayama, former professor of English Education turned author who now spends her days on the other side of the page writing wickedly fun contemporary romance. When she’s not catering to the whims of her story characters or feeding her book-a-day reading addiction, she enjoys randomly rearranging the furniture in her house, tackling reno projects with her power tools, cooking ‘special edition’ dishes that laugh in the face of recipes, and trying pretty much anything without reading the directions first. Nina lives in Hawai‘i with her two cute kids and similarly adorable husband. Learn more about her and her books at http://www.violetduke.com.

EXCERPT:
“Why you little—”

Connor launched at Abby as she shrieked out in laughter and tried ducking around him to make for the door.  Snatching her around the waist, he hoisted her cackling body over his shoulder and upended her back onto the bed.  “You set me up.”

Now unliddable, her giggles effervesced, giving zero credence to her perfectly scandalized denials.  He trapped her under him and buried his grin against the curve of her neck, feeling disproportionately victorious at the gasp she couldn’t contain when he skimmed his lips over her collarbone.

The woman was getting to him.  This time, when his lips found her soft skin again, it was with purpose.  “You planted that wicked little bag-o-fun there for me to find, admit it.”

She gave an Oscar-worthy gasp at the accusation. “What?  What possible reason would I have had to do that?”

“To drive me up the wall?  Send me bursting through my zipper?”  He nipped at her earlobe playfully.  “Though I guess I should be flattered to be the reason you bought all that stuff.”

The cutest derisive snort he’d ever heard shot out of her like a torpedo with impeccable aim.  “Breaking news, Connor: scientists have in fact discovered that the earth doesn’t revolve around you.  Women buy toys for themselves all the time.”

He nearly bit off his tongue to avoid even thinking about Abby having any sort of toy-based fun.  “I still call foul.  When you and I agreed to this who’ll-beg-first stint, you didn’t say you’d be weaponizing your attacks.”

“Weapons?”  She blinked innocently.  “You make them sound so sinister.  I’d say they’re more like…private tools.  Survival tools, if you will.  For my time here.  Naturally, you were never meant to see them.”

Bull.  Next, you’ll tell me the snowflake masquerading as underwear in that bag is worn strictly for comfort.  Hell, I’ve seen more fabric on the teeny doilies in Skylar’s toy tea sets—”

“Aw, I remember those,” she cut in softly with a smile.  “She used to go on and on about how her ‘bestest Uncle Connor’ hosted the fanciest dress-up tea parties.”

“I wore suits,” he clarified gruffly, “and don’t change the subject.  Why buy sexy lingerie if not to have them be seen?”

BLog Tour & GIveaway: Rise of the Fallen by Donya Lynne

In the streets of Chicago exists an uneasy, centuries-old truce between vampires and their distant cousins, a race of shifters called drecks. Vampire enforcement agency, All the King’s Men (AKM), is charged with maintaining the truce, but when volatile enforcer Micah Black loses his mate and falls into the biological agony that results from the broken bond, he tests the boundaries of the truce by seeking out Apostle, a leader in the dreck community. Micah wants Apostle to kill him, a request Apostle is more than happy to fulfill.

When ex-Army medic Samantha Garrett inadvertently disrupts the plot and saves Micah’s life, a chain reaction sets Micah’s heart on a collision course with Sam’s, but he will have to protect her from Apostle and her obsessive ex-husband, Steve, if they will have a chance at forever. Can Micah hold his emotions together to keep Sam alive?
