Release Blitz, Review & Giveaway: The Scars That Define Us By: M.N. Forgy

10246492_718038961605991_517409397957249601_n

The Devil's Dust MC has a list of new threats to the club's lifestyle. Dani, to prove her loyalty, is trying to embrace a part of herself that she never knew existed until now. A sinful beast lurking beneath her surface has been awakened and is ready to eliminate anyone that stands in its way. Looking at her stained hands, she rinses the blood from them. She resigns herself to innocence lost and welcomes her thirst for more blood. After a breathtaking turn of events, Shadow is looking at life in a different perspective. Not knowing who he can trust or who he can forgive has left him feeling desolate and alone. As Shadow is laying behind his rifle, he wonders if he can pull the trigger to eliminate the threat. He takes a deep breath and squeezes the trigger, the rifle recoil ignites the fuel that drives him. Retaliations will be required. Boundaries will be shattered. Redemption will be lost. Betrayal so deep, yet they still yearn for one another. Can Shadow overlook Dani’s transgressions? Can Dani overlook the mistrust that Shadow has placed upon her?

If you haven’t read What Doesn’t Destroy Us yet, then STOP!  There will be some spoilers from book one in this review and you have to have read book 1 to fully appreciate The Scars That Define Us

The Scars That Define Us picks up right where What Doesn’t Destroy Us leaves off and thank god for that because people that was one hell of a cliffhanger and I had almost broke my kindle when I originally read book 1.

When book 1 ended, Devil’s Dust thought that Dani was a rat, all because of her bitch mother.  Dani didn’t know what would happen to her and she really had no idea what would happen between her and Shadow.  Shadow has major trust issues and rightfully so, but while he wants to believe that Dani really is a rat and would always chose the club over some untrustworthy bitch it’s not so easy for him to automatically believe Dani when she says she didn’t rat.  Shadow of course goes and becomes a massive asshole towards Dani and does things to hurt her emotionally.

Dani is really unsure where she stands.  Her father is the President of Devil’s Dust but that doesn’t mean she is in the clear.  A rat is put down, plain and simple.  Luckily most of the club believes her that she didn’t rat them out.  Her relationship with Shadow is broken and she has no idea if it can be repaired.  She misses him, she loves him and she is in pain from the hurt he is causing her.  Dani maybe hurting but that doesn’t make her weak, oh hell no. This is still one tough ass bitch, she has Devil’s Dust in her veins and she isn’t afraid to let the Devil inside of her out when she needs to.

I was literally on the edge of my seat when I started to read and I did not stop reading until I reached the end .  My heart would race, feel like it was breaking from the angst and my temper would flare when Shadow would be an asshole and do shit to hurt Dani and also when stupid bitches or assholes would try to cause Dani pain.  I want book 3 right freaking now because the next book is bound to be just as good if not better that this one and to top this one that is saying a lot.  This does not end in a cliffhanger, the next book is a different couple so if any of you were worried about another cliffhanger  you can rest assured that it’s not.   M.N. Forgy is an author that I am going to be watching and one that you all need to read if you haven’t yet because she knows how to keep you wanting more of these bad ass men of Devil’s Dust!

Review: Anguish (Joker's Wrath MC #3) By: Bella Jewel

In the third book of the Joker’s Wrath series we get Mack’s book and everyone hold on tight and get ready for one hell of an emotional ride.

Mack is a Nomad of the Joker’s Wrath MC, adopted brother of Maddox, he comes home when the club needs him and leaves when they don’t.  Well, that is until he is faced with having an infant son he had known nothing about and one he doesn’t want.  To take care of the baby he hires a nanny, Jaylah.  What he doesn’t expect is the sexual tension between the two of them, her sassy mouth, and the confusion he begins to feel over his son.

Jaylah took the nanny position having no freaking idea what it took to be a nanny, but she needed money.  Needed it fast and had no other choice.  She didn’t begin to imagine she would be living with a biker who is an asshole 90% of the time, want him despite him being an asshole and that she would love that baby as her own.  Jaylah is running from trouble, trouble she got into because of her ex and trouble she needed to tell Mack about from the start but doesn’t.

When these two finally give in the sex between them is hot.  But will their relationship ever become more than just sex?  Mack’s past defines him, he doesn’t believe in love.  He had it once and it broke him, and no one could come close to what he felt for his son’s mother, or can Jaylah break that wall around his heart and get in?  This book made me cry at some points because Mack’s pain was deep, made me want to punch him in the balls at other times for being such an asshole, and kind of made me want to slap Jaylah and say seriously you find that happening disgusting without ever experiencing it?  And no I am not going to give that part away because I think once y’all read the book you will agree with me on that one ;)

I swear with each book that Bella Jewel writes she just gets better and better.  Anguish is one of my favorite books from her yet and the series isn’t done yet.  I absolutely cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us and not only with the Joker’s Wrath series but in general because this is one author I can’t get enough of!

Blog Tour & Review: Wasted Love By: Danielle Jamie

WARNING

Prepare to laugh your butt off and become extremely hot & bothered! Brooklyn Bennett breaks the mold when it comes to female heroines she is not your average chick! She loves sex, hot guys, and her best friend Savannah fiercely and has a slight obsession with Jared Leto.

You got to know me in my best friend Savannah’s series. Now it’s my turn to tell you my story and for you to see my best friend's journey to her happily ever after through my eyes.

My life is far from the norm. First off, I’m not your average girl. I’m wild, crazy, and everyone who knows me say’s I’m a free spirit. I guess I am, because I don’t sweat the little things.

Life is too short.

I love hard and live harder. My dream is to become a star and that dream comes first and foremost before anything and anyone...except for my best friend Savannah, who I'd go to hell and back for. At 24 years old, I’m not looking for love. I’m just looking for a good time and a nice distraction after busting my butt on a movie set all week. The thought of falling in love has never crossed my mind. I’m too driven for love and everything that comes with it.

That is until I meet a certain Southern hottie by the name of Dixon Beaumont, who just so happens to  be the cousin of Kayden Knox. He flips my world upside down the moment we meet.

The only problem is he’s the male version of me: Career driven and enjoying having a good time with no plans on settling down.

Throw in a bad boy rocker and a sweet Aussie and I find myself going from a simple, carefree life to a full-blown love square. It’s going to be dramatic. But hey, what’s life without a little drama?

This review is a hard one to type out.  Why you might ask?  Because while I found the book to be funny at times I just wasn’t very into it at all.  Now let me explain a little bit better.  I was not aware that this was a spinoff of an earlier series and is tied to it so I didn’t really have that understanding of the characters and their backgrounds so at times I was lost.  But I tried to stick it out and get into the story but I just couldn’t connect at all.  Am I in any way saying not to read this book?  No I am not because I honestly believe that this is one of those situations that I am the odd reviewer out when it comes to loving this story.  It is funny, it’s actually really damn funny to be honest.  What I would like to do is go back and read the connecting series and then read this book again.  I honestly believe that if I am able to do just that, that I will love this book but until I am able to do so I will only be able to give a neutral response.  I hope that others will still go read this book, after reading the connected series first, and laugh where I laughed and really want to see where this series will lead in the future.

EXCERPT

I can feel my bed dip slightly as I sense someone climbing into bed and lying beside me. The heat from their body travels through my thin cami. I know I’m not dreaming as soon as I feel a hand touch my thigh and slowly begin to travel up my side.

I’m lying on my side, facing the large wall of windows that overlook Houston as the moonlight glistens through the room. Other than the light from the moon and the clock on my stand, the entire bedroom in engulfed in darkness.

I blink, trying to get my eyes to focus. Everything is blurry, and my body feels as if it’s still in a dream. I glance towards the glowing clock on the nightstand to see what time it is. It’s just a little after six in the morning; I’ve only been asleep for a few hours.

Rolling onto my back, I raise my hands up above my head to stretch, causing a tiny squeak to slip out of my mouth. Coming into focus beside me is Jax.

Am I still dreaming?

Pinching a piece of skin on my forearm, I shout, “Ouch…I guess I’m not dreaming?” and let out a small giggle.

Jax’s eyes smile down at me, glowing in the moonlight illuminating my bed. “Nope. You’re definitely not dreamin’, baby.” His words, mixed with the sensation of his fingers trailing up and down my thigh, cause my body to erupt in goose bumps. My core tightens with anticipation as his fingers slowly slide higher up my leg and work their way towards my inner thigh.

Closing my eyes momentarily, I inhale deeply before opening my eyes and locking them with Jax’s.

“You came back?”

His hand stops moving, and he gives my leg a gentle squeeze. “I couldn’t sleep. I’ve been tossing and turning in there all night. The image of you half-naked in here with just a thin wall between us was driving me absolutely mad.”

He’s leaning on his left arm, with his head resting in the palm of his hand as his brown eyes search my face. His fingers begin their course again, making their way up my body agonizingly slowly. Just as his fingers get to the edge of my panties, he runs them over the thin fabric separating us, causing my eyes to slam back shut and a shudder to shoot through my sex as it clenches with anticipation of his fingers entering me.

Finally, after what feels like an eternity, he slides the thin fabric of my panties to the side, all the while never taking his eyes off mine. With a perfect pace, he begins moving his fingers over my sex, spreading my juices from my entrance to my clit.

My eyes momentarily roll back as I feel a spark ignite in my core.
“This is your last chance to back out, Brooklyn. Once I start, there’s no way in hell I’ll be able to stop.”

Blog Tour: The Truth About Air & Water by Katherine Owen

The Truth About Air & Water, book 2 in the Truth In Lies Series. READ This Much Is True, book 1 first, although it's been written as a standalone. Readers say, don't do that.

“The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.” -Ernest Hemingway ~ A Farewell To Arms

They share an epic love but one moment changes everything. A life together that seemed certain is shattered. One learns you never love the same way twice; the other learns what it means to come home. You only think you know how this love story goes, but do you really know how an epic love can end?

“There are all kinds of love in this world but never the same love twice.”
-F. Scott Fitzgerald
She is living color, and I’ve been in a black-and-white world for far too long without her. Powerful stuff. It surrounds me. I’ve felt it since I first arrived. The forcefield of her. The magnetism of her. The power she wields over me. I’m alive again because of her, like a dying plant that finally gets some water. I’ve got it bad for this girl. Reality dawns. The light comes through the darkness and shines on me. She’s my water.
-Lincoln Presley

The truth is I breathe with him. He is my air. Raison d’etre.
-Tally Landon

Author's note: This novel is part of the Truth In Lies series. It can be read as standalone, however, fans of my fiction already are highly recommending that those new to my work, READ This Much Is True book 1 FIRST.

Chapter 2 - Tally
“She’s got the story,” I say to Linc hours later as we lie next to each other taking up only half of the king-sized bed because our bodies remain intertwined at an all but intimate level. The money shot photograph session took twice as long as the interview. After another three hours, we finally told Candy we had to go. I had to pick up Cara from preschool and Linc had a late practice.
We left Candy and her photographer while they were still packing up their gear. By this time, the reporter had given up on asking us any more questions. She had the money shot. She had the story. We weren’t going to like it. The unsettled feeling nagged at me, but Linc didn’t seem to care. “She’s got the story.” Apparently, my fears need repeating.
“So?” He asks with a laugh. “Come here.” He pulls me closer and trails his hands down between my legs knowing full well this is my ultimate weakness for him. I cannot not respond. His touch right there gets me to do just about anything for him. I moan. He laughs again as he starts to make his move.
We put Cara to bed fifteen minutes ago and left the bedroom door slightly ajar so we can hear her but closed enough so she doesn’t hear us. Usually, we wait the agreed-upon half-hour before commencing with doing the deed as I still like to call it, but she was extra tired because I let her stay up late to watch Entangled. I’m not sure she understands the story line completely. I’m not sure I do either but she loves Rapunzel’s long hair. We watched it together while we waited for Linc’s return from practice. Cara played with my hair for most of the movie and kept running her little fingers through it over and over, while I filled out endless wedding invitations, imploring the ninety-five percent of strangers I do not know to come witness our nuptials in the middle of October.
“The article won’t run for weeks. Don’t worry about it. By the time it does, the season will probably be over. We’ll be married. Settled. Nobody is going to care about how we met or what happened in Moscow. They’ll be staring at your photograph, the Dirty Dancing one, and be thinking how did that guy get so lucky and get a girl like her? All those Sports Illustrated fans wishing they were me and holding you up in the air just like Baby.”
“Even the girls?”
He laughs. “Even the girls. When are you going to start believing we’re the two luckiest people in the world?” I turn into him then and stroke his face and search his eyes for solace and truth but I don’t answer. “When are you going to let go and let this happen and believe in it? In me? In us?” Linc asks again.
I trace his lips and kiss him. Lightly. Just a trace.
In the next, he smothers my face with kisses of his own and eventually pulls me up beneath him. “Come on, Tally. Let it go. Let it all go. I’m here. I’m not going anywhere. Don’t put a time clock on this. Don’t walk down the aisle toward me, less than a month from now, still not believing that this isn’t real or this won’t last because it will. I’m here. You’re here. So. Believe it. In me. In us. Now.” He pulls away from me and studies my face. Guilt arrives right on time. I wince along with it.“What is it? What aren’t you telling me? Because with that face? It is definitely something.”
“Dr. Eldon scheduled an ultrasound. I just…she’s optimistic and I just hope that we can find a way to have another child. I want to give you a son because you’ve given so much to me. And I want you to be happy. With me.”
“I am happy with you. I love you because you’re my life. You’re my water. Don’t forget that. I couldn’t survive without you.” He plays with a strand of my hair and lets it slip through his fingers. “And I’m your air.” He sighs a little. “I love you just as you are whether we have more kids or not. That’s why we’re going to make it. But you have to stop believing that something bad is going to happen. You have to believe in us as much as I do. We’re going to have this great life together. We already do. I love you. You love me. And believe me; love is enough. Our love is enough.”
I hold my breath and gaze at him for a long while. The commitment and compassion I see in the depths of his eyes begins to steady me. All the doubt, and even the guilt, begin to fade away. Like a protective shield, his love encircles me from all around.
Then when he pulls me into his arm and looks at me as if I’m the only one that counts, just before he kisses me, it is reassuring in the only way that matters.
Lincoln Presley, baseball star, is one of a kind.
And, he’s mine.
It’s a miracle really.
What an unbelievable stroke of luck at having him in my life and loving me back. I kiss him and let go of all my deep-rooted fears: falling, failing, even losing. I actually feel them disappear as if a strange wind has come by and blown them away.
I take in air—his air—that allows me to live and breathe.
“Okay,” I eventually say.
Then, I grab his hand and lightly kiss the inside of his wrist, and then trail my lips along his broad chest. He leans back against the pillows with a knowing look pulling me along with him, but cedes all control to me. I start to smile, but then another errant thought crashes in on me and threatens to undo all of these joyous declarations.
Everything breaks.

Excerpt
Matt insisted on carrying me to the bathroom. I hugged his neck.
“Matt, you realize I can walk with a black eye, right?”
“I’ll be the judge of that.” He set me on the counter and I squeaked; the marble was frigid under my bare bottom. He dropped one of my bath bombs in the tub and watched it fizz and color the water purple.
Once, I managed to convince Matt to use a bath bomb with me. It was called a “sex bomb” and it was supposed to “put us in the mood” with “exciting scents” and “natural pheromones.” I grinned at the memory. As soon as Matt realized the bomb was coating his skin in sparkles, he leapt out of the tub ranting about “looking Twilighty” and “smelling like a girl.”
            “What’re you grinning at?”
“You.” I smiled. “And this bath, which is such a transparent effort to avoid saying goodbye. Sweet… but transparent.”
Matt frowned and paced the small space of the bathroom. Ha! I was right. Matt planned to leave me in the tub and slip away.
My poor, adorable night owl—he really had issues with goodbyes.
            “No,” he mumbled. “Maybe…”
“Can I induce you to stay a little longer?” I uncrossed my legs deliberately and spread them. Matt watched. He folded his arms and tilted his head.
            “How does your cheek feel?”
            “They’re cold.” I grinned.
“And you say I’m bad.” He slid me off the sink and turned me. I watched our reflection through the patchy steam on the mirror. Matt—God, he was so tall, and the look on his face was arresting. He wanted me. I knew that look.
