The Devil's Dust MC has a list of new threats to the club's lifestyle. Dani, to prove her loyalty, is trying to embrace a part of herself that she never knew existed until now. A sinful beast lurking beneath her surface has been awakened and is ready to eliminate anyone that stands in its way. Looking at her stained hands, she rinses the blood from them. She resigns herself to innocence lost and welcomes her thirst for more blood. After a breathtaking turn of events, Shadow is looking at life in a different perspective. Not knowing who he can trust or who he can forgive has left him feeling desolate and alone. As Shadow is laying behind his rifle, he wonders if he can pull the trigger to eliminate the threat. He takes a deep breath and squeezes the trigger, the rifle recoil ignites the fuel that drives him. Retaliations will be required. Boundaries will be shattered. Redemption will be lost. Betrayal so deep, yet they still yearn for one another. Can Shadow overlook Dani’s transgressions? Can Dani overlook the mistrust that Shadow has placed upon her?

If you haven’t read What Doesn’t Destroy Us yet, then STOP!  There will be some spoilers from book one in this review and you have to have read book 1 to fully appreciate The Scars That Define Us

The Scars That Define Us picks up right where What Doesn’t Destroy Us leaves off and thank god for that because people that was one hell of a cliffhanger and I had almost broke my kindle when I originally read book 1.

When book 1 ended, Devil’s Dust thought that Dani was a rat, all because of her bitch mother.  Dani didn’t know what would happen to her and she really had no idea what would happen between her and Shadow.  Shadow has major trust issues and rightfully so, but while he wants to believe that Dani really is a rat and would always chose the club over some untrustworthy bitch it’s not so easy for him to automatically believe Dani when she says she didn’t rat.  Shadow of course goes and becomes a massive asshole towards Dani and does things to hurt her emotionally.

Dani is really unsure where she stands.  Her father is the President of Devil’s Dust but that doesn’t mean she is in the clear.  A rat is put down, plain and simple.  Luckily most of the club believes her that she didn’t rat them out.  Her relationship with Shadow is broken and she has no idea if it can be repaired.  She misses him, she loves him and she is in pain from the hurt he is causing her.  Dani maybe hurting but that doesn’t make her weak, oh hell no. This is still one tough ass bitch, she has Devil’s Dust in her veins and she isn’t afraid to let the Devil inside of her out when she needs to.

I was literally on the edge of my seat when I started to read and I did not stop reading until I reached the end .  My heart would race, feel like it was breaking from the angst and my temper would flare when Shadow would be an asshole and do shit to hurt Dani and also when stupid bitches or assholes would try to cause Dani pain.  I want book 3 right freaking now because the next book is bound to be just as good if not better that this one and to top this one that is saying a lot.  This does not end in a cliffhanger, the next book is a different couple so if any of you were worried about another cliffhanger  you can rest assured that it’s not.   M.N. Forgy is an author that I am going to be watching and one that you all need to read if you haven’t yet because she knows how to keep you wanting more of these bad ass men of Devil’s Dust!

About the Author
M.NM.N. Forgy was raised in Missouri where she still lives with her family. She's a soccer mom by day and a saucy writer by night. M.N. Forgy started writing at a young age but never took it seriously until years later, as a stay-at-home mom, she opened her laptop and started writing again. As a role model for her children, she felt she couldn't live with the "what if" anymore and finally took a chance on her character's story. So, with her glass of wine in hand and a stray Barbie sharing her seat, she continues to create and please her fans.
