Blog Tour, Giveaway & Review: Stubborn Love by Wendy Owens

Clementine “Emmie” Hayes is starting her life over.  She had given her youth and love to Ashton Stirling and all he gave in return was misery and pain.  Ready for a new beginning, she heads to New York to finish her art degree.  But, Ashton wouldn't let her go so easily.

In her search for an affordable New York apartment (ha like there is such a thing), she meets Paige.  Paige suggests that she and Emmie become roommates.  The day she goes to see the apartment she has a run in with Colin Bennett, Paige's boyfriend's brother, who acted like an ass, but Emmie acted like a bitch to him as well.  She thinks that Colin is a playboy who uses women and that is all he is.  She really had this I am better than you attitude going on there for a while that really got on my nerves.  Yes, she was going through her own personal hell, I will give her that, but she wasn’t willing to even give Colin the benefit of the doubt at first.

Colin, originally came off as an ass, but you quickly learn that he is nothing like what Emmie has classified him as.  Now he was your typical guy who had a lot of past hook ups but something in him changed when he met Emmie.  There is more to Colin than what meets the eye.  His past isn’t a happy one either and once Emmie learns of it she warms up to him.  I thought Colin was actually really sweet in his attempts to get closer to her.

This book reminded me of a mix of other books but was still it’s own. I liked this book, but for me at times it was hard to get into the story. The constant it was all my fault that Ashton did what he did got old. Emmie’s story began as an abused wife and in my opinion that was just over used throughout the book. Plus there was a scene with Ashton’s dad in New York that annoyed me for the simple fact that if that happened to me, my happy ass would have been going straight to the police station to file a report, not head back to your home town and go to his house! Colin, I loved from the start. Was he perfect? Hell no, he was not, but he seemed like a genuine person who makes mistakes and wanted to really have a relationship with Emmie. Now, with all that I have said, would I tell others to read this book? Yes, I would because maybe I am a sap for happily ever afters, and like Colin, everyone deserves to be given the chance.

Thanks so much for participating in the blog tour. I loved your review. It was very honest and I love when a reader tells it like it is. The next book, Only in Dreams explored Paige and Christian and their future. Paige might be a main character who is right up your alley. It is to be released in December 2013. Thanks again for participating. Love the blog.

Thanks for the review - I think it's hard to find a character we completely love throughout any book but it sounds like the characters in this book change and grow as the story goes on and that's what I like - I like the characters to develop. Thanks for the giveaway tool
