Review: The Dark Light of Day by T.M. Frazier

Abby’s life started out in hell and hasn’t seemed to get any better as she has grown up.  Her childhood was horrific, her saving grace was her grandmother.  When her grandma dies in an explosion, Abby’s world is once again rocked and this time she doesn’t know what may happen.  She doesn’t trust anyone and why would she?   Those who she should have been able to trust are the ones who have hurt her the most.  When she first meets Jake, their encounter is anything but sweet.  She is drawn to the bad boy, when she has never wanted to want a guy before.

Jake did not want to return to his home town, the reason why he left is not only sad it is something that a person shouldn’t have to go through.  Jake is the ultimate bad boy.  His past has broken his soul and not only are his secrets are deadly but he is also.  When Jake helps out Abby, he didn’t know what all he was getting into with Abby but didn’t care.  He wants her to open up but will he allow himself to open up to her as well?  Can two damaged souls heal each other or will they end up causing even more hurt?

Holy shit!  This is not your happily ever after romance.  It is dark at times and painful. I couldn’t put it down, it was like watching a train wreck in slow motion.  These two are extremely damaged individuals and their souls are broken but the connection that they have is incredible.  They heal each other slowly.  When Jake learns of Abby’s past his reaction is not only scary but beautiful at the same time.  I wouldn’t want to be in Jake’s way, nope not at all.  Abby’s completely ok with Jake’s dark side and even encouraged him to embrace it.

When Abby is dealt yet another horrific blow, I could not wait for Jake’s reaction.  Too bad she never got the chance to tell him because he never gave her the chance.  I so wanted to shoot him with his own gun I was so pissed!  I could not believe him!!  I never thought he would ever pull that shit.  When he works his way back into Abby’s life and learns the truth you could feel the evil in him and I LOVED it.  He may have a dark side but that dark side is what makes him so perfect.  He isn’t afraid to embrace who he is to keep who he loves safe and let me tell you he embraces it big time.

I was hooked from the start, I was drawn into the pain and heartbreak of The Dark Light of Day.  T.M. Frazier has written a book that isn’t your typical romance, it’s dark, gritty, soul wrenching, and it’s also healing, and beautiful.  I am warning you now, you will feel the pain the characters feel, and you will need to process what you have read before moving on because this is one that will stick with you for days after you finished.  I can’t wait to see what T.M. Frazier writes in the future because if it is even as close to as good as The Dark Light of Day then she will have a fan in me for life.
