Review: This Girl by Colleen Hoover

Every once in a while you come across a book that makes you sit up, take notice, and take stock of what you have in your life. The book that did for me was Slammed by Colleen Hoover. Pieces of that story hit so close to home for me and it made me realize how lucky I am. Reading This Girl did it to me all over again. I guess in some ways it should. It’s the same story, only told from Will’s perspective.

What I LOVE about This Girl is the WAY Colleen told the story. It’s not a simple re-telling of Slammed. It’s more than that. I learned some things I didn’t know and it has changed the way I look at some of the events that happened in Slammed. They mean more to me.

This Girl is told in flashbacks. Will and Lake are on their honeymoon. While they’re enjoying said honeymoon, Lake asks Will questions about their shared history. This is how we get Will’s side of Slammed. Not only does it affect me and how I felt about things, it affects Lake, sometimes in good ways and sometimes in bad. But through it all Will and Lake love each other and work it out.

This was a wonderful conclusion to the series. The epilogue is fabulous! I can only hope to be as wonderful a mother as Lake’s mom. She’s truly an inspiration. This was the perfect book to read on Mother’s Day Weekend!
