Review: Avoiding Commitment by K.A. Linde

To sum it up: Jack and Lexi never had a typical relationship. After two years without speaking, she receives a phone call that changes everything. He unexpectedly asks her to convince the new girl, Bekah, that he's ready to commit. Jack is calling now after everything they had been through because there is another woman. She can't believe it.

Follow Lexi in this heart wrenching drama as she relives her past relationship, or lack thereof, with Jack, and not just in her own mind, but to his fiancĂ©-to-be. Throw in Bekah's hot brother who always seems to be in the right place at the right time, a past with more secrets to unravel than you can even imagine, and you get a recipe for disaster. Find out what happens to Lexi as she travels to Atlanta to get the closure she so desperately desires from Jack, and how the bumps of life seem to keep getting in the way…

Ramsey

 Jack

Oh. My. God.
Holy angst.
This book was pure freaking genius.
Amazing.
Emotional.
Freaking Perfect.

I can’t… I just… there are no words for how I felt about this book. I honest to God, have not read a book this good… well… ever. That’s right, I said it: THIS IS OFFICIALLY MY FAVORITE BOOK.

Sex. Love. Lies. Drama. Angst. Jack. …and Ramsey. ♥ …Need I say more?

Let me just start by saying, this book left me wanting to vent- I can’t even count the number of times I almost suffered from a heart attack- I’m literally going to need some freaking therapy, if I’m being honest. And that my friends, is what makes a book worth way more than ten stars. This book had me on the edge of my seat through every turn of the page. This is a story about a couple who can’t stay away from each other… love… lust… an undeniable attraction… call it what you will. The bottom line is, this is what keeps bringing them together... yet, many… ehhh… things/scenarios/others keep tearing them apart, time and time and time again. For months. Years even! And you’re with them every single step of the way. Be warned: Lexi and Jack’s self destructive behavior will make you want to:

-Scream.
-Throw your computer/device.
-Cry.
-Do a happy dance.
-Rip your hair out.

…Are you catching my drift? But that’s what makes this book so freaking flawless. I mean, c’mon… let’s all be honest here… deep down inside, we all actually want to read about this kind of romance novel. We live for books like this- books that takes so much emotion out of you.

Here’s a little information so that you can get a better understanding and feel of these characters: It took Lexi all of about ten seconds to look at Jack and lose control of herself. It didn’t matter if it had been years, months, days, or hours since she had last seen him… that fact always remained the same. He got to her in a way no one else ever had, and she was helpless to stop it every time. Jack was what she’d always wanted, and everything and everyone was just a distraction to take her mind off of him. For her, Jack was always the one who made everything right. There was something so real about Lexi’s character- something so raw about her personality. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and be blunt, and she certainly didn’t hold back from saying exactly how she felt. For me, these have never been qualities I care for in my heroine’s. But with Lexi… it just worked for me, and the book just wouldn’t be the same had she been any different.

Jack... Jack… Jack… *sigh* ♥ He’s the stereotypical ex-boyfriend you should live without, but… well… you just can’t. The man has a way of messing with your mind like no other character ever will, but what can I say?

I.
Absolutely.
Loved.
Him.

I loved and hated him at the same time. He oozed charm to the nth degree, and the man had skills inside and outside of the bedroom. *fanning myself* …he dished out heartache and pain every second he had the opportunity to, yet it never stopped Lexi from continuing to come back for more. Not that I can blame the woman… he would do some wonderful things that made me love him all the more, and then pages later, he broke my heart into pieces. Heck, I kept wanting more! I found myself diving for any scrap he was willing to throw my way!

Ramsey on the other hand, was a total sweetheart- I found myself falling head over heels for him as well, which believe it or not, I didn’t think was possible since I was Jack’s number one fan! (Destructive behavior/jerkiness and all.) Ramsey was someone Lexi felt some semblance of spark for, yet couldn’t let herself get involved with no matter what the circumstance. Jack on the other hand, she had loved for as long as she could remember, yet all he did was continue to hurt her, lie to her and destroy her over and over and over again.

Let me just go ahead and say, that I strongly feel like you shouldn’t go into this story with a “they get what they deserve” attitude. …Go into this book with an open mind and an open heart- this isn’t a story you should jump into if you’re not open to completely dysfunctional relationships, whether they’re good or bad for you- because, let’s face it: this story is filled with lying, cheating, and manipulation. With that being said though, this book is a roller-coaster of emotions. I lived and breathed this book, honest to God I did. Let me just say, thank you K.A. Linde for having the gift to write such a phenomenal story, that I’ll forever hold in my heart. I can now proudly say that this is holding spot number on in my “favorites” shelf, and is EVERYTHING that I look for in a truly flawless, and emotional story.

Cristal, I heard from a friend that it should be available on Amazon around August 1st! I'm not positive the exact date, or if that's even true- however, if it is then you'll be able to get it soon! I ended up getting both of the books from fictionpress.com though! =)
