Review: Found in You by Laurelin Paige

Found in You picks up right where Fixed on You ends.  Hudson and Alayna are giving their relationship a go. Alayna is fighting her demons and Hudson is fighting is.

This one was much more emotionally charged to me. They were fighting against so many things. People on the outside getting into their business. Some were trying to help, others trying to end them and some just being a PIA!

Hudson’s sister Mira is awesome. She’s an amazing secondary character and I loved her!

Celia is a biotch in a major way. She needs to take a long walk off a short cliff. I knew she was up to something. I should have seen what she was up to, but I wasn’t paying attention so I missed it initially. Bad on me.

Brian turned out to be a better brother than I thought. He redeemed himself in this one.

Hudson’s dad is a perve. His mom is a bitch.

Hudson and Alayna continue to be a hot couple. Hudson’s jealousy may end up breaking them up, but at least they’re giving it a go. Alayna and Hudson both need to learn to talk to each other more and trust each other. However, considering their pasts, trust won’t come easy.

We’re left with a bit of a cliffhanger even with their HFN. I’m looking forward to the next one. I have to know if they get their HEA!

Review: Fixed on You by Laurelin Paige

Fixed on you starts out like many other stories. Hudson is a rich playboy. Alyana is the poor girl working in a local bar. They come to an arrangement that will suit both of them. But that’s where the similarities end.

Alayna has commitment problems. She’s not afraid to commit, in fact, it’s just the opposite, she gets overly attached. Think….stalker.

Hudson has his own secret. But they’re not the usual secrets. His secrets destroy people.

Together they embark on a journey that will change both of them forever. The question is, will the change help them or hurt them?

I found this story to be intriguing. Alayna was interesting. She fought against being a stalker. She really did. And sometimes she did really well. Other times, not so much.

Hudson did everything he could to keep his secrets at bay while helping Alayna. He hopes that by being with Alayna it will help him as well. It’s a two way street. My heart went to Alayna. I think her stalker tendencies stemmed from other problems that were never addressed. She’s doing the best she can.

After meeting Hudson’s mother, I think I understand where his problem comes from. She makes the Freddie Krueger look positively sweet and caring. Just wait until you meet her.  Alyana handled her very well. I was very impressed with her on that one!

We’re not left with an HEA but we do get an HFN. I’m off to read the next one in the series. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Review: Love Me? by K.E. Osborn

Love Me picks up right where Trust Me leaves off. Aiden is in jail. Jeni is despondent. She’s not eating, she’s sleeping all the time, and she’s having nightmares. She won’t let anyone in.

Aiden is doing everything he can to survive being in prison. Needless to say, he does get out of prison. I won’t tell you how or why, just know that he does.

However, they now have a new problem. Someone is targeting Jeni. They don’t know who and they’re doing everything they can to keep her safe.

Aiden is impressive. He does everything he can to protect Jeni from both his father and the outside threat.

But no matter what Aiden does, he can’t protect her from everything. Their love and Jeni’s trust is put to the ultimate test.

My heart broke for Jeni. She already had trust issues and with the events that happen to her, only makes it worse. I really wanted to smack everyone at the end of the book. Jeni has been traumatized and no one understand what she’s going through. They all force her into decisions she not ready to make!

We’re left with another cliffhanger. This one will break your heart. I’m ready for the last book in the trilogy. I have to know what happens!

Review: Trust Me? by K.E. Osborn

Trust Me is the story of Jenifer Taylor who gets hit by Aiden O’Connell, literally. Aiden is fascinated with Jenifer and set out to date her.

Jenifer has trust issues. Big ones.

Aiden has daddy issues. Big ones.

Jenifer is sweet, funny and generally a likeable person.

Aiden is generous, funny, hunky and rich.

They are an unlikely pair and make a great couple. Their biggest obstacles are Jenifer’s trust issues and Aiden’s dad. Yes, Aiden’s dad.

There are certain aspects that are typical of millionaire stories. He has a driver, fantastic condo, and takes Jenifer on whimsical fantasy dates. Even though these are typical of millionaire stories, it’s a wonderful story about two people learning to trust and love each other.

Jeni’s roommate Sarah was an awesome secondary character. Everyone should have a friend like her! The emails between Sara and Jeni were typical emails. They were funny, insightful and helped moved the story along.

The texting between Aiden and Jeni was great! It’s typical behavior and better than phone conversations!

I loved their romance and enjoyed being a part of it. The trials and tribulations they face are typical in many ways. But because of Aiden’s father and his status as a millionaire, there are some things he faces that are not typical. It added to the story.

We’re left with a cliffhanger. Aiden and Jeni have some real problems in their way. They have to fight through so much to be together.

Author Spotlight and Review: Beneath the Surface by M.A. Stacie (And Jerk of My Dreams #24)

Kyran Reese is a man in control. Driven when it comes to work, focused when it comes to play. From his office to the chalk circle of Metro’s bare-knuckle boxing ring, his only thought is to win. That thirst heightens when Dale Porter enters his life. His brother’s assistant should be off-limits, but her witty comments and sarcastic comebacks have him desperate to get her between the sheets. After receiving an unexpected left hook, Kyran gets exactly what he wants, though he makes the rules very clear.
When Dale agrees to Kyran’s relationship stipulation of no labels, she’s sucked into a whirlwind of lust, money, and underground boxing.  The agreement to keep their lust away from the office is discarded when rules are molded to suit their ever-increasing attraction. Dale fights her growing affection, trying to hide it even when the world around them spirals out of control. All too soon she realizes she can’t hide her true feelings any longer.
Kyran begins to wonder if he’s finally met his match, and with his family falling apart before his eyes, he turns to the two things he knows will keep him sane: boxing and Dale. Those crutches can’t last forever, and when Kyran finds it harder to function he is left with a decision he never thought he’d have to make.

Could playing to win mean playing for keeps?

Jerk. Asshole. Douchenozzle. Admit it- you hate to love the jerks. That alpha male character who is so arrogant and rude but sexy as hell. That foul mouthed douche bag of a man who rocks your traitorous heart. We've all read them and we've all liked them to some extent. In real life you wouldn't touch the man with a ten foot pole. But in the fictional world? Nothing can stand in the way! Everyone would be lying to themselves if they didn't admit that the meaner the man, the further we run... Towards them! *sigh*

That's what this weekly meme is about- those jerky delicious men! Each Friday this meme will go up, and you can share your jerk anyway you want: review, interview, lines and quotes, giveaway of a book. However you want! All you have to do is sign up

HOT! HOT! HOT! I loved this book. The story was hot, Kyran is hot, the sex was hot. Basically, it was hot!

Kyran is not your typical millionaire CEO. He has a secret. Only Dale has discovered that secret. Not only does she know his secret, she doesn’t put up with his crap. She gives as good she gets. He’s used to getting his way, but then so is Dale.

I like the idea of the millionaire getting the girl. They can do things no one else can. It makes the fantasy more fun to me. Of course, they’re alpha men and most of the time they’re jerks. Yep. Jerks. Well guess what? Kyran is a jerk too. But he is redeemable. He has his faults, but when it comes to Dale, he just can’t help it!

When Dale and Kyran fall into a sex-only relationship, you know it won’t stay that way. Kyran insists on “no labels”. However, by not labeling something, you’re labeling it. Men are so dumb sometimes! Dale refuses to be used by Kyran, so she stands up to him. She’s also brave enough to walk away when she needs to.

Kyran has more familial issues to work through than you could ever imagine. Of course Dale sees them. Well, at least some of them. Not only does she have her eyes open, she’s not afraid to call Kyran on the carpet for it.

One of the most refreshing things about this story? Dale has been hurt. We all have. But Dale didn’t let that stop her from enjoying life and having fun. She didn’t hold her past lovers faults against Kyran. She didn’t put those jerks past sins on him.

There was so much to love about this story and I think love it all! Not only is it a great story, it was a quick read. We had the right amount of angst, drama, loving and hot smexy scenes!

What gets you in the mood to write, both normal and sexy scenes.  Do you have any rituals you go through to get in the writing zone?

In truth, my life is far too busy to have a ritual. I have so little writing time that when I see an opening I have to get writing.
I have three boys, a day job and have had a few races booked this year, so much of my time was needed to run. I will snatch up whatever time I can grab to write. I carry my notebook everywhere and scribble away whenever I can.
When I first started writing I had to have a few beers before I could write anything remotely sexy.  I needed the alcohol to break down my inhibitions. I laugh at that now, because just last week I wrote an entire sex scene while my 6 year old was having his swimming lesson. I didn’t care if anyone was reading over shoulder. Their questions would certainly have started an interesting conversation.
Most of the time I do my writing after my boys have gone to bed. I don’t have anything fancy like a desk or a workstation. I have my knee, my laptop and I’ll either be listening to music, watching the TV, or trying to talk to my husband. I supposed I learned very early on that I would rarely get the luxury of time devoted solely to write. Maybe that’ll happen as the boys get older.
Whenever I’m not busy in my day job I’ll get some writing in, or at least get a few ideas down on paper to refer to.
I suppose my ritual is simply switching into author mode.  I notebook and pen will always help me to do that. Especially if the pen is pink.

M. A. Stacie is never without a book or her eReader. A voracious reader, with a love of sexy, yet angst ridden novels, she adores getting lost in new worlds. Her need to write did not grip her until after her second son was born, when her previous rambles became fully fledged stories.
