Review: Origin by Dani Worth

Science Fiction is so much fun. There are so many wonderful things you can do with it. You can have aliens that are built differently, have differing abilities, differing philosophies, and you can build these whimsical, fantastic worlds.

Dani Worth has definitely done that with her series, Kithran Regenesis. The fourth book in this wonderful series comes out April 8 and I was fortunate enough to get my greedy little hands on a copy before it came out!

Ms. Worth continues to give us a wonderful world where people are free to love anyone they choose and however many people they choose. I love that! There’s no judgment in their world. It’s all about doing what makes you and the ones you love happy.

In Origin, we get to find out what happens to Claybourne and Anders. These are two people we met in the earlier books. I love that we find out what happens to them. We get their story. In addition we find another Gwinarian. Another one is coming home to Kithra!

But it’s more than that. We get a little closer to finding out why and how Kithra was destroyed all those years ago. We also get to watch Siri get her freedom and blossom under the love and passion she shares with Claybourne and Anders.

Siri has suffered for the past 14 years. She’s been held prisoner, abused, beaten, raped, tortured, you name it, it’s happened to her. Claybourne and Anders find her when they raid the pleasure ship she’s been held on. They take her with them and teach her to trust, to love, and to feel passion.

Ms. Worth did an amazing job of showing how Siri grew out of her shell and became her own person. How she found her backbone after all those years of abuse. Yes, I know it would normally take years and counseling, but this is fiction. It’s Science Fiction and Siri is a Gwinarian. Go with it. I did and it’s worth it!

We get some seriously hot smexy sex in this story. We get M/M, M/F and of course we get some good ol’ MMF. It’s all in there. But it’s not just about Siri finding her backbone and learning to love, it’s about Claybourne and Anders learning to forgive each other, love each other and move on. They find out how short life is and make that move.

We meet some people in this one. I’m hoping their stories will be coming soon. I can’t wait to get more of this wonderful world Ms. Worth has built!

Review: Fierce Radiance by Tymber Dalton

Science Fiction is great! You can do anything you want in Science Fiction and it works. You just have to make it believable to the audience.

In Fierce Radiance, Tymber Dalton creates a world where people love who they love. Gender and species doesn’t matter. It’s all about who you love.

Samuel and Ker are looking for their third. They find it in Aine. Once they have her, they seduce her into loving them. And love her they do. They would do anything for her. Of course Aine has her own baggage that she has to deal with. Ker and Samuel do their best to help her heal, but it’s not always enough.

I will admit, I had a hard time at the beginning with the changes that happened with Aine once she mated with Samuel. However, once I let go and jumped in, the story was wonderful. Sometimes you have to let go! Remember, anything is possible.

Once I sunk my teeth into the story and accepted the world Tymber had created, I found myself feeling every emotion her character felt. I was weeping along with them as well as celebrating their triumphs. I could not put the story down.

Aine has had such a hard life. Her upbringing was very unconventional and left her with a few issues to work through. Samuel and Ker have been a couple for so long. They grew together and once they found Aine, they were complete. Their love knew no boundaries.

Ker’s species are an interesting lot. They have some very unique qualities and boggle the mind the at times. Their culture and customs are definitely eye-opening.

I love the world that’s been created. This is the first in the series and I’m anticipating another. I would love get more of this wonderful world that Tymber Dalton has created!

Review: Saved by Venom (Grabbed #3) by Lolita Lopez

The Grabbed series by Lolita Lopez has brought a wonderful new world to me. It’s the future. We have hot alpha males out to get their brides. The brides are looking for a better life, but they’re scared of the rumors about the sky warriors. You gotta love propaganda!

Once again we have a warrior who had earned the points needed to be part of the Grab and get a bride. Once again we have a bride who doesn’t roll over and take what ever he dishes out. Even though these aspects have been the same in all three Grabbed stories, the stories themselves have been different.

Ms. Lopez has kept to the original premise of the series, without making them all the same. Each of the characters has been unique, but carries the characteristics of their race and culture.

Venom is an alpha-male who loves ropes and bondage. Dizzy has always felt most comfortable when bound or weighted down. They are a match made to be together. Venom goes all alpha-male, chest thumping and Dizzy stands up to him.

As usual, things are not as they seem. We have some intrigue, some people with secrets, others have secrets revealed, there’s a little fighting, a little mayhem and some pretty tense moments. We also have some seriously hot lovin’ going on!

I’m loving this series and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Lopez comes up with next. I know who I hope gets his HEA next. I guess I’ll have to wait and see.

Blog Tour, Review, and Giveaway: Hers to Cherish by Patricia A. Knight

Sci-Fi, BDSM, intrigue, mystery, hot alpha male and a feisty heroine. All of this adds up to an interesting story by Patricia A. Knight.

Ramsey DeKieran is a disgraced nobleman. Staffania Rickard is part of an elite fighting team. She’s fierce, she’s independent, and she longs to submit.

This was an interesting story. We have an entire planet that is dedicated to the idea of domination and submission. I say idea because what they really are, is assholes who want to oppress women and abuse them.

Ramsey and Steffania are sent to this planet to rescue noble woman who was taken there against her will. Ramsey and Steffania are everything that is good in the world BDSM. Not only are they what BDSM should be, they are battle hardened and don’t lose.

There were a great number of impressive things about this book. Ramsey and Steffania are two of them. They had a connection, they sizzled and they complement each other very nicely.

Some of the secondary characters were just as good. Tok was one. Love the lumbering giant. He was a nice surprise. Pansy was another. Both of them just go to show that looks can be deceiving.

The retro-gladiator games were pretty cool as well. It was neat to see these ancient games taking place on this advanced planet. Well, technologically advanced, because they were definitely backwater in their treatment of women.

There was really only one thing that bothered me about this story. When they were on planet for the games, their quarters were bugged. At times, they would be talking about things in quarter that would have been picked up on the bugs and put them in danger. There were only a couple of times it was mentioned Steffania had disabled the bugs for a few conversations, not all of them.

The same thing happened when they were at Narr’s residence. They didn’t discuss any bugs, but it seems Narr would have had them in the rooms there.

This is the third book in the Verdantia series. I’ve not read the others, but I had no problem following this one. I intend to go back and read the other two. It should be interesting!

Review: Claiming Her Warriors by Savannah Scott

Earth has been destroyed. It’s now a dead planet. The last remaining humans have been rescued and live on Lumineta now.

Lumineta has more men than women so they create triads, two men and one woman. Human women are adjusting to this and Brianna is no exception. Hauk and Aeron are brothers and they want Brianna. But Brianna’s life is in danger. Can Hauk and Aeron keep her safe?

This was a quick read.  It’s only 78 pages. In those 78 pages, Savannah Stuart managed to pack a lot in.  My biggest complaint is it wasn’t long enough. I had a hard time connecting with the characters. It was hard to get to know them and build that connection. That being said, what I did get from them, I liked.

These are strong, alpha men who feel a definite sense of duty and honor. Brianna is a strong-willed woman learning to live in a new world. I definitely wanted to know more about this new world Lumineta. What I did learn definitely intrigued me. There’s some real possibilities for more from this world.

The attraction between Hauk, Aeron and Brianna is strong and intense. This was definitely worth reading and I’m hoping we get more from this new world!

Review and Guest Post: Deep Space Mission Corps Series by Tymber Dalton

Today we're talking about the Deep Space Mission Corps Series by Tymber Dalton. Let me tell you, this is one HOT series! I've loved all four of the books. I was thrilled to find out that Ms. Dalton has more planned for the series! Yippee! I'm reviewing all four books in the series in one post.

Ms. Dalton was kind enough to send us a little bit of information about the Series!  Be sure to check it out! Especially if you like Menage with some Science Fiction!

Love at First Bight introduces us to the main characters of this series. In fact the series sticks with the same characters throughout. They just find themselves in some unique and harrowing situations!

I was hooked on Love at First Bight from the very beginning. The world created by Tymber Dalton was amazing. I was intrigued by the way things work in this world. The open and accepting nature of everyone along with the job benefits available? Oh My! Get ready to want to go to the future!

Aaron, Caph, Ford and Emilia are all loveable and compliment each other so well. They are truly meant to be together. At one point in this book I was crying crocodile tears. I was so into the story and the characters meant so much to me. I was ready to throw my e-reader across the room! I couldn’t believe this was happening! Then the twist came. OMFG! Really? It was a phenomenal twist and made the story that much better!

Bightmares continues the story of the characters we met in Love at First Bight. Everyone is settling into their roles, both on the ship and with each other. They get called out to handle a distress signal and end up fighting to keep their lives!

There’s a very nice tie-in to the first novel with this story. We only got snippets of life for Aaron, Caph and Ford prior to them meeting and joining with Emilia. That part of their lives is interwoven throughout this series and it adds a depth not only to the characters but to the story as well. Their lives from before Emilia continue to impact their lives together now.

There was some very nice tension in this story. I will admit I figured out one element of the problem early on. I didn’t have the full solution until the very end though. It was a very intriguing complication!

Spiderbight picks up right where Bightmares leaves off.  This poor crew can’t get a break for anything!

In Spiderbight we get to meet some of the other species that are in space. Their views and how they handle things are very different from us. It creates some problems for the crew and they end up in a pretty bad situation.

While all of the stories in this series are erotic (duh…it’s Tymber Dalton), this one was far more graphic than the others. There were some situations in this one that can easily make some uncomfortable. Boundaries will definitely be stretched in this one. We have dubious-consent and some non-con involved in this one, so be warned!

Even though we meet a new species in this one, the story was pretty straightforward. There wasn’t as much suspense in this one as the others. Even without the suspense, it did provide for some pretty tense moments!

Out of Sight, Out of Mind continues the story of Emilia, Aaron, Caph and Ford. They’re once again off into deep space. This time they pick up a new crew member. Emilia does not like this crew member. He creeps her out and she wants nothing to do with him. Unfortunately Aaron, Caph and Ford don’t have the creepy vibe from him. Could be the whole empathy thing!

Sure enough, Emilia is right and they end up in a REALLY bad situation (again). This time Emilia if fighting for her life. Aaron, Caph and Ford are racing to try to save her. They can’t lose another person they love. It would destroy them all.

The tension in this one was intense. I felt for Emilia the entire time. I was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t believe what was going on. I was horrified for Emilia and really wanted to smack Aaron upside the head with a two-by-four!

By the end of the story I was heartbroken for the crew while at the same time I was rejoicing for them. It’s an interesting dynamic. I loved the new species we met. They were probably the most interesting of all we’ve met so far (IMHO).

This series is definitely worth reading! I’m also thrilled to find out that Tymber Dalton is planning at least one more for this series. It’s been great fun following the same characters throughout the series. Watching them grow as a family and individually has been fun. Bring on the next one!

The Deep Space Mission Corps series is near and dear to my heart for a few reasons. It was one of the first series I wrote (and it’s still not finished). The first book, Love at First Bight, was actually written on a tiny Asus EEEpc netbook, using a USB keyboard and mouse (because the keyboard is so tiny) on Open Office. My big Toshiba laptop screen died, and I had to get it in for repairs.
Fortunately, I didn’t go blind or hunch-backed from the tiny screen. LOL

That is definitely one way to keep focused on the writing, however. When you know getting the book done can’t be delayed, and the “computer” is too uncomfortable to use for much else.
I envisioned the Tamora Bight, the ship the characters use, I envision as a cross between the freighter from Aliens, but more spartan, cleaner, and better lit, like the original Star Trek’s Enterprise. (Also minus acid-drooling aliens!)

I grew up loving the original Star Trek and Doctor Who series. When I write sci-fi, it tends to come from those origins, character-driven, instead of technology-focused. The technology isn’t the main story. The interaction between the characters and the trials they go through, that’s my focus.
The first four books—Love at First Bight, Bightmares, Spider Bight, and Out of Bight, Out of Mind—were the original characters’ story arc. There will be more books coming involving crews of the other ships, after I get a few other sets of “voices” out of the way first.

Another trivia fact about the series: most of the character names come from Shakespearean works. It’s also the first book I wrote where I actually managed to catch my husband by surprise with the twist at the ending. (He’s extremely hard to do that with.)
