Review: Claimed in Canada by Christine Edwards

There are all kinds of people in this world. Some good. Some bad. Violet had the opportunity to meet both. Two men are vying for Violet’s attentions. One of them is good, one of them is not.

Damon and Luke are at two ends of the spectrum. Luke is a blue-collar worker. He’s a logger and works with hands all day. He’s rough around the edges and a Dom. Then there’s Damon. He’s polished, a surgeon and seems like a Dom. Violet is extremely attracted to both of them.

Violet was great. She’s professional, independent and not afraid to speak her mind. She’s also a submissive. She doesn’t know it until she meets Luke.

Luke was intriguing. He’s gruff, hot, and 100% Dominant. He has a soft, playful side that complemented his gruff and domineering side. However, I found myself frustrated with him at times. Violet was new to the D/s world and he seemed like at times he expected her to know and understand what to do without much instruction. He wasn’t always clear with his instructions to Violet. Now, this being said, it just makes him more lovable because he’s not perfect. He has flaws.

Damon made a great bad guy. He was the perfect wolf in sheep’s clothing. He came across polished and professional when he was really just a sadistic ass.

The romance and scenes between Luke and Violet were hot. He’s definitely a man who knows what he wants and goes after it. Violet trusted a bit easily, but then so did I at her age.

The ending worked really well. It wasn’t an easy road for them and it shouldn’t have been. After what Violet went through, she would have some issues to work through and she took the time to do that. Luke didn’t give up on her but he also tried to giver her space to work through it. He was understanding and everything she needed.

Review: Club Wonderland by Christine D'Abo

Club Wonderland is a wonderful erotic re-telling of Alice in Wonderland. Right off the bat I was able to recognize Alice, The Cheshire Cat, The Queen of Hearts and of course the white rabbit that leads Alice into Wonderland.

Not only is it an erotic re-telling, it incorporates BDSM, bondage, spanking, a little tension, ok a lot of tension. I have to admit I loved every part of it.

The tension between Alice and Gael was amazing. It was the perfect amount without being over the top. When Alice and Gael finally hook up, it was hot as all get out! OMG!

But Gael wasn’t the perfect Dom. He made mistakes and this just made him that much more human. It made him lovable and realistic. After all, no one is perfect.

Alice made her own mistakes. She had to learn about herself, Gael, and how to stand on her own two feet.

This was definitely worth the read!

Review: Saved by Venom (Grabbed #3) by Lolita Lopez

The Grabbed series by Lolita Lopez has brought a wonderful new world to me. It’s the future. We have hot alpha males out to get their brides. The brides are looking for a better life, but they’re scared of the rumors about the sky warriors. You gotta love propaganda!

Once again we have a warrior who had earned the points needed to be part of the Grab and get a bride. Once again we have a bride who doesn’t roll over and take what ever he dishes out. Even though these aspects have been the same in all three Grabbed stories, the stories themselves have been different.

Ms. Lopez has kept to the original premise of the series, without making them all the same. Each of the characters has been unique, but carries the characteristics of their race and culture.

Venom is an alpha-male who loves ropes and bondage. Dizzy has always felt most comfortable when bound or weighted down. They are a match made to be together. Venom goes all alpha-male, chest thumping and Dizzy stands up to him.

As usual, things are not as they seem. We have some intrigue, some people with secrets, others have secrets revealed, there’s a little fighting, a little mayhem and some pretty tense moments. We also have some seriously hot lovin’ going on!

I’m loving this series and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Lopez comes up with next. I know who I hope gets his HEA next. I guess I’ll have to wait and see.

Review: Freedom to Submit by Melody Snow Monroe

Menage? BDSM? Love ‘em both. Put them together and I’m in! I was really looking forward to this book and couldn’t wait to read it.

It started off nicely with a little murder and mayhem to bring our two alpha-males together with their new little sub! In order to protect her, they move her in with them. The very first night things get started!

In some ways from that point things went a little wonky and other things went well. The sex scenes were spicy. A couple of them were a bit hard for me to imagine as what I was imagining didn’t match up exactly with later parts of the scene. The bondage, blindfolds and spankings were definitely hot though!

The connection between the heroes and heroine were a little off. I had a hard time connecting with them. It also felt like the relationship was a bit forced in certain areas.

There were a couple of things that really bothered me. Both men, Brady and Lucas, are alpha-males and doms. They are ex-military and Brady is now the sheriff. Why do I point this out? After Danisa had been held at gunpoint and then run for her life, Brady contained the bad guy and then left Danisa on her own. He didn’t call Lucas or anyone else to be there with her. The adrenaline rush and subsequent crash would have left her shaking, but she was fine. Like it was an everyday occurrence. The second thing that really bothered me was the ending. When Lucas and Brady proposed to Danisa, they said as is tradition in Freedom, the older one marries the woman but she’ll be bound to both of them. However, no where else in the book was there a mention that menage was common practice in Freedom. There was no mention of other couples or this being accepted. It seemed forced and contrived at that point.

Now, even with the things that bothered me about this book, I’m still looking forward to the series. I think it has great potential and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes. I think this will be a fun series to read.

Review: Mastering Kyla by Aubrey Stone

Mastering Kyla is a wonderfully sweet story about a woman finding her true self. After being left at the alter by her fiancé, Kyla runs into a friend from college. He seduces her and introduces her to submission.

Jackson is perfect. He’s too perfect. The man has no flaws! We should all be so lucky to find a man like Jackson.

Kyla is sweet, a little too innocent and just what Jackson needs, just like Jackson is what Kyla needs.  These two are actually perfect for each other.

This is a pretty short story, only around 50 pages. While it is very short, it’s packed with a lot emotion and quite a bit of hot and steamy sex. As usual with short stories, my biggest complaint is the lack of character development. While I got a pretty good feel for Kyla, I had a harder time getting a feel for Jackson. On the surface he seemed perfect. But no matter how perfect he felt, I couldn’t figure out what drove him. Why he was the way he was. Even lacking that development, it was a good story!
