Review: Sins & Needles by Karina Halle

As I sit here and contemplate Sins and Needles I’m trying to figure out where to start. All the reviews I read were AMAZING! AWESOME! So, I picked up the book and was expecting……something more.  I try not read books while they’re being so hyped up because I’m afraid I’ll be expecting more. I think that’s what happened for me here with Sins and Needles.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s a good book. It’s just not AMAZING or AWESOME.

I was intrigued with Ellie and the life she led. She’s certainly no princess or an innocent. But she’s definitely likable. I ended up in a conundrum with her. She’s a grafter. A con. She steals for a living and spends most of her life on the run. Of course that’s all she knows. That’s what her parents taught her. However, she knows it’s wrong but she still does it. She says she wants to go legit and start over. But when things get rough, she goes right back to grifting.

Camden is intriguing in his own way. He was a loner in High School. He used to be friends with Ellie until she humiliated him. Now they’re back together and Camden is hot! Hot! Hot!  He’s tattooed and pierced and a complete bad boy!

Camden and Ellie are quite the pair.

I enjoyed this story, but I wasn’t enthralled with it. I’ll definitely read the other two in the trilogy because I have to know what happens.

Review: Billionaire Bad Boys Club

I’m having a love-hate relationship with this book. I love the billionaire aspect of it! They have things and can do things that others can’t do. Makes it awesome. So, what did I hate? They have things and can do things others can’t do! I know! It’s a conundrum!

The Billionaire’s Club is a group of story about a group of men that are all billionaires. They’re stories are all different, but they’re all friends and they’re all filthy rich!  I want one.

Claimed by Him is the story of Graves Buchanan. His house is awesome and I want one. He’s attracted to his friend’s sister, Chloe. Chloe has been in love with Graves since she was fourteen.  Graves won’t act on his attraction to Chloe for several reasons. The first being, her brother, Danny. The second being, Graves, himself. He has dark needs and is afraid that he’ll hurt Chloe.

Chloe finally takes matters into her own hands and decides to seduce Graves.

Now, I admit, when I was initially reading this, I had a Fifty Shades of Gray flashback moment. But, then as I read the reasons behind Graves acting as he did, I no longer had that flashback moment. The reasoning and actions are different.

There were a couple of spots I felt like the dialog was a bit wonky. But other than that, I really liked the book. I’m excited to read the next one! I think I’m going to like this series!

So the Billionaire’s Club continues with the story of Luke Preston.  He’s an underwear model and filthy rich. He’s also a manwhore. Big. Time. He doesn't ever do the same woman twice. One day, those wandering ways catch up to him! The boyfriend of the woman he’s currently doing (as in RIGHT NOW in the act) shows up and shoots Luke!

Luke decides to take a break until they catch the guy that shot him. So, off to Cancun he goes. There he meets Peyton. Peyton is a shark in the financial world of Chicago. She’s in Cancun to relax and NOT work. She also decides to play a little. She meets Luke and they begin a worldwind affair for three days. No strings attached sex.

I definitely liked this one better. We’re still dealing with billionaire’s who can do things the ordinary person can’t, but it was hotter! Loved it! Peyton was wonderful. She was innocent and shy but still able to go after what she wanted, which was Luke. I liked that she wavered but still went after him. It was a constant wavering, just those initial, OMG! What the hell am I doing! wavering.

I also liked Luke. Something about a bad-boy manwhore meeting his match that makes me swoon!

I’m ready for the rest of the stories!  Let’s Go!

Jerk of My Dreams #12

Jerk. Asshole. Douchenozzle. Admit it- you hate to love the jerks. That alpha male character who is so arrogant and rude but sexy as hell. That foul mouthed douche bag of a man who rocks your traitorous heart. We've all read them and we've all liked them to some extent. In real life you wouldn't touch the man with a ten foot pole. But in the fictional world? Nothing can stand in the way! Everyone would be lying to themselves if they didn't admit that the meaner the man, the further we run... Towards them! *sigh*

That's what this weekly meme is about- those jerky delicious men! Each Friday this meme will go up, and you can share your jerk anyway you want: review, interview, lines and quotes, giveaway of a book. However you want! All you have to do is sign up HERE and follow the linky. Any time you comment on someones post, leave your link so that person can comment back.

So, I’m in a serious conundrum. I really unsure what to do.  I just finished reading WalkingDisaster. It’s exactly what I was promised, it’s the retelling of BeautifulDisaster (which I loved) but from Travis Maddox’s point of view.

So, why the conundrum?

There were parts I loved. Parts I devoured. There points where I couldn’t put it down. Then there were parts where I was bored. Why was I bored? I already knew the story. Ms. McGuire did exactly what she promised. She DELIVERED on that promise. But, for some strange reason I wanted something a little different.

So, the problem is mine, not Ms. McGuire’s. I cannot hold it against Jamie McGuire for giving me EXACTLY what I was promised.

It was interesting to see things from Travis’ point of view. It was very emotional to watch him fall apart over Abby. To watch him get tied up in knots as he tried to hard to be what she needed, what she wanted. It was amazing to see him become the man he was supposed to be.

As crazy as this sounds, I think the best part was the prologue where we saw Travis with his mother. It explained so much about Travis. It gave me a deeper understanding of Travis.

Since this is Travis' story, I'll focus on him. Travis is a jerk. A nice jerk, but still a jerk. He's a reputation on campus as being a manwhore. He picks up women, takes them home, does them on the couch (they don't even warrant a bed), then sends them home. Amazingly enough, the women often get mad at him for this, even though everyone on campus knows how he is! While he would never lay a hand on a woman in anger, he will get in the face of any man that pisses him off!

When he's with Abby, OMFG! Everything he says is wrong. He just keeps pissing her off. However, she does give as good as she gets when it comes to Travis! Jerk of My Dreams moment for me? When he picked her up, threw her over his shoulder and carried her home from the Valentine Party. Totally jerky, but at the same time, so romantic.

Abby and Travis are a strange couple. They were so bad for each other and yet so good for each other. It’s one of those bizarre situations. Travis is an amazing character. He’s flawed in so many ways, but he’s perfect in others.

I’m glad I read this. I enjoyed getting Travis’s side of things. In many ways, his was far more emotional than Abby’s side of things.

Review: Star Crossed (Battered Hearts #2) by Kele Moon

Romeo and Juliet.
A love story for the ages.
A tragedy that tells of two star-crossed lovers who never get their HEA.
Maybe this time it will turn out differently.

Romeo is a MMA fighter. He’s just lost the Championship Title to Clay Powers. When he ends up saving Clay’s girlfriend, Clay’s longtime friend Jules (Juliet to Romeo) takes him to dinner as a thank you. From there, the tension just skyrockets!

Juliet is a beautiful, tough lawyer from Garnet, TX. She’s travelling with Clay Powers and ends up in bed with Romeo. When Romeo moves to Garnet to train with Clay, the sparks fly.

Romeo and Juliet pursue a relationship. But neither one is ready for Wyatt (Juliet’s brother and town sheriff) to know. So, they do a lot of sneaking around. Having grown up in a small town, I was shocked they were able to keep it quiet. My small town was bigger than Garnet and NOTHING was a secret there!

Romeo is plagued by a guilty conscience.  He has ties to the Italian Mafioso in New York. Being involved with Juliet puts her at risk. Almost as much risk as him.

This was a really good story. I enjoyed it immensely. I loved the phone sex and adding in the facetime sex was even hotter! The sexual tension between Romeo and Juliet was crackling! Everything went along smoothly and then……the proverbial shit hit the fan!

I was really curious how Romeo was going to get away from the mafia. It’s not like he could hand in a letter of resignation. One does not simply “walk away” from the mafia. The ending was intense and action packed. It was AWESOME!

I’m really hoping the next story in the Battered Hearts series is Wyatt’s. I think it will be as the set up is there. I’m loving this series!
