Review: Menage on 34th Street by Elise Logan and Emily Ryan-Davis

Menage on 34th Street is short and very powerful story.

Kat and Liam have been married for 10 years. Right before they got married their friend, Hunter, left for the Marines. 10 years ago he turned down an offer to be with them. Now he’s back and Liam and Kat want Hunter in their lives.

Liam and Kat obviously have a strong relationship. It’s open and they communicate well. But things come to a head when Kat finds out something Liam kept from her 10 years ago.

Hunter throws a whole new mix into things. Not just because he’s going to be the third in the relationship, but he’s a Marine. A career Marine. It’s everything to him. Being in this unconventional relationship could jeopardize everything.

This story has some amazing smexy scenes. Limits are pushed, boundaries are tested and they get down and dirty. We get all combinations possible in this story with the three of them. There’s not any stone left unturned.

But on top of the hot smexy scenes we have some emotional turmoil. One of the things I really liked about this story was Elise Logan and Emily Ryan-Davis’ ability to put so much into such a short story. Not only did she pack a lot into this story she dealt with the very difficult problems that come when adding a another person into a relationship. It’s not just adjusting to each other when there are three involved, it’s adding in the stigma of a non-traditional relationship. We also have the added stress of Hunter being a Marine. That throws a whole new set of variables to be dealt with.

Elise dealt with these problems very matter of factly in the story. There wasn’t any glossing over of potential problems. While we are left with a happy ending it’s not necessarily a HEA. However, I’m more than happy with the HFN we have.

I’m so intrigued with this trio that I’m really hoping we get another story about Liam, Kat and Hunter.

Review: Hot Mess by Lynn Raye Harris

Hostile Operations Team is a group of alpha-men in uniform who do highly secretive and dangerous things to protect the US. They’re also hot and falling in love! For some reason, they can drop behind enemy lines, take out the bad guys and never get worried. Yet, when faced with a woman they love, they become fraidy cats!

Georganne has been in love with Sam for years and years. In fact, she’s been in love with him since she was 12 years old. Now, it’s 18 years later and he’s coming back in her life. This time it’s to keep her safe.

When they’re thrown together in a safe house the sparks fly. Georganne wants Sam. Sam, bless his heart, can’t resist her.

I did get irritated with Sam. He’s the poor kid from the wrong side of town. Even though, Georganne’s family never thought of him like that, he still does. He won’t let it go.

Georganne was the right mix of independent woman with a bit of vulnerability. She was willing to fight for what she wanted, Sam. Sam was trying to do what he thought was right. He just needs to get his head out of his ass. He did end up being a jerk at times to her, but he did apologize. He was definitely a Hot Mess.

There wasn’t a lot of conflict in this one. It is a relatively short story, so it’s not surprising there wasn’t much conflict.  I did miss the added tension of car chases and things blowing up, but that’s just me.

I’m really excited about this series and I’m looking forward to more of them!

Review: Wilde Nights in Paradise by Tonya Burrows

When Libby Pruitt gets a stalker, her dad hires the only man he trusts with her safety, Jude Wilde. The problem? Jude Wilde shattered Libby’s heart eight years ago. Now they have to hide out with each other until her stalker is caught.

Jude and Libby both still love each other. The problem is whether or not they can work through past hurts to find each other again. Meanwhile, Jude has to keep Libby alive.

Jude and Libby’s chemistry is explosive. Their history only makes it more explosive. There’s not much tension from the stalker. I would have liked the tension to have been ratcheted up a bit more. I like lots of tension in my books.

The ending was pretty good. I liked how the stalker was revealed. It wasn’t who I expected. I suspected someone else, so I was surprised with that reveal.

The resolution between Jude and Libby was good. Jude finally got some closure to his long harbored secret. Libby finally found out what happened eight years ago. The boy got the girl. I like HEA’s.

Jerk of My Dreams #28 Hot Pursuit by Lynne Raye Harris

Jerk. Asshole. Douchenozzle. Admit it- you hate to love the jerks. That alpha male character who is so arrogant and rude but sexy as hell. That foul mouthed douche bag of a man who rocks your traitorous heart. We've all read them and we've all liked them to some extent. In real life you wouldn't touch the man with a ten foot pole. But in the fictional world? Nothing can stand in the way! Everyone would be lying to themselves if they didn't admit that the meaner the man, the further we run... Towards them! *sigh*

That's what this weekly meme is about- those jerky delicious men! Each Friday this meme will go up, and you can share your jerk anyway you want: review, interview, lines and quotes, giveaway of a book. However you want! All you have to do is sign up

Hot Pursuit is the first book in a new series by Lynn Raye Harris. This series revolves around the men in the Hostile Operations Team. These are hot men who risk their lives for the good of the country. They have a strong sense of what’s right and wrong. They also do everything they can to protect those around them.

Evie Baker has returned home after her ex-boyfriend stole all her money from her restaurant and her personal savings. She’s now back home trying to get everything together.

Matt is home for his sister’s wedding. He’s also waiting to hear what the inquiry into his last mission decides. His career and his life hang in the balance.

Whens someone comes after Evie, Matt does everything he can to keep her safe.

This was an enjoyable read with some tension and suspense built into it. Evie and Matt have a prior relationship. They were friends growing up until Matt pushed her away. So, the reunion component was nice. But it wasn’t a completely warm and fuzzy reunion. We all have things that happened in high school that we wish would go away. Matt and Evie’s last encounter was one of them. But time moves on and so do those involved.

Matt and Evie talking about and resolving what happened at their last encounter was nice. It’s neat to see what happens if you just talk about things to finally clear the air and let them go.

The attraction between Evie and Matt is still burning strong. They have to deal with the attraction they feel for each other as well as the threat to Evie and her family. But of course, it’s not all roses. Matt is married to his job and he’s not willing to give it up. He doesn’t think he has anything to offer a woman. His job is dangerous and it’s important.

So, while Matt is not a complete jerk. He does seem to keep putting his foot in his mouth. His honesty keeps getting him in trouble. He keeps hurting Evie over and over. He never wants to do that, but does it anyway!

I’m digging this series so far. I’ll be glad to read the next one to see if stays good or gets better!
