Blog Tour: Fighting to Survive by Ashley Piscitelli

Shawn Matthews has been hiding something from his friends, he is secretive and won’t talk about what has him running off and returning beat up sometimes.  His friends aren’t sure what to think, but when his secret comes out it all begins to make sense.

Christen has had a crush on Shawn since she first met him.  He hasn’t noticed her though, well not until she and her friends are the ones who discovered his secret.  Once she catches his eye, will they be able to move past how different their backgrounds are, or will their relationship be fighting to survive?

Shawn has been keeping a secret from all of his friends.  He doesn’t want them to know where he disappears to.  He knows once they find out they are going to offer help and he doesn’t want that.  He doesn’t like what he has to do but he can’t deny that he isn’t good at it either.  When Christen, Madison and Nicole discover his secret he didn’t think he know they wouldn’t keep their mouths shut.  He also didn’t plan on noticing Christen, the girl that has hung around them since Carter and Madison have gotten together.  Once he does though, he can’t help but want her.

Christen comes from a wealthy background, but she doesn’t throw it in your face.  She’s been Carter’s little sister Holly’s friend for years.  Since she first meets Shawn she has had a crush on him that has only gotten stronger as time goes on.  She falls hard for Shawn.

These two have great chemistry and get along great, well that is until people stick their noses where they don’t belong.  My stomach actually felt nauseated when I read what Shawn does to Christen.  While I can see why he does what he does at the same time I was like why are you letting them do this to you and her?  He does earn back my love though, doing what he does best so I can forgive his momentary douche bag status.

Of course things for Madison and Carter and Nicole and Jason aren’t all sunshine and roses either.  Nicole and Jason are still trying to work through what they have learned.  Madison and Carter still have the threat of Chris hanging over their heads.

Fighting to Survive is the final book in the Guarded Hearts series.  I really enjoyed this book.  My only issue was that it seemed a little rushed and could have been longer to close up some lose ends but overall it is a good read and a great ending to this series and the beginning of another.  Ashley Piscitelli had won me over with the first book in this series, Playing With Fire, but sealed my loyalty with Fighting To Survive.

Excerpt:

He spins around, and before I know it, he has backed me against the wall. He slams his hands on either side of my head, trapping my hands with them, and then crushes his mouth to mine. I let out a gasp of surprise and he takes advantage, slipping his tongue into my mouth. His kiss is so frenzied and urgent, so full of need. It’s unlike anything I have ever experienced in my life. I’m not innocent—I’ve been kissed by plenty of guys—but never like this.
He’s taking complete control over me and dominating every sense of my being. He pulls back a little, biting down on my lower lip, causing me to moan with a mix of pleasure and pain. I open my eyes to see him staring at me with such desire that my insides warm. Before I know what’s happening, he releases my hands and speeds out the door.

I stand there, pressed against the wall, panting from the most soul shattering and mind-altering kiss I have ever experienced. When I finally catch my breath, I smooth out my hair and clothes, and then make my way back to the crowd. Shawn Matthews is the kind of guy that my dad had warned me to stay away from, but there is no way in hell that’s happening now.

Blog Tour and Giveaway: Surrender To Me by Ashley Piscitelli

Becca has no interest in meeting guys, all her life she has been judged by the actions of her mother and refuses to add to what people already believe to be true.  That is until she lends a hot guy a hand and agrees to go out with him on a date.  When she learns that he just isn’t some random guy, but a rockstar she isn’t sure if she should try to pursue anything with him.  She knows that what she feels for Luke is unlike anything else she’s ever felt before.  Can he be the one to break through her walls and own her heart?

Lucas can’t believe his luck when the girl who helps him out doesn’t realize who he is at first and agrees to go out with him.  She is everything he never knew he wanted, because let’s face it he has money, fame and no shortage of willing women.  She is special and he knows it from the minute he meet sher.  He is living out his dream of being a rockstar, but when that dream changes to include Becca will they be able to make it work or will their different lifestyles get in the way?

Becca and Luke moved quickly into their relationship, after one date they begin to spend all their time together.  Becca is uncomfortable at times with Luke taking care of her and tends to fight it when sometimes it was ridiculous to even do so.  Becca had serious trust issues when it comes to men, she hasn’t seen the good side to them thanks to how her mom earned the reputation that she has.  Luke was patient with Becca, he wanted her to be in his life and knew it from the first date.  For him, she is something special, something worth treasuring because she isn’t with him just for his fortune and fame.  Other people in their lives try to sabotage their relationship, but when they finally succeed in doing so I was pissed at Luke’s reaction and how Becca was as well.

Surrender to Me was a quick enjoyable read, I liked it.  I really wish that it had been longer so that it didn’t seem so rushed at times and that Luke and Becca’s relationship could have been further developed and more solid.  Sadly, for me it fell into the same rut of rockstar meets girl, wants girl, quickly develops relationship with girl, is an asshole to girl, then makes it up to girl and everything is ok.  That being said, I still really enjoyed it and want to continue reading about Luke and Becca in the next book.

Review: Breaking Through The Wall by Ashley Piscitelli

If you have not read Playing With Fire yet, please do so before reading Breaking Through The Wall.

Jason Smith hated the whole idea of relationships and commitment. He got what he needed from girls but that’s where it ended. At least that was how it was supposed to be. After a traumatic event he gets involved with the one girl who could force him to change his ways. Will he be able to commit to her though? Or will he drive her away before he ever has the chance to have her?

Madison and Carter finally found happiness but their lives have just been turned upside down, by someone who refuses to go away. Can their relationship survive the tragedy and pain that he has caused? What if justice doesn’t always win, and the bad guys get away?

What do you do when your whole world is turned upside down? When everything comes crumbling down around you, will you have the will to fight and break down the wall?

Breaking Through The Wall picks up right where Playing With Fire left off.  This book is about Jason and Nicole as well as the continuation of Madison and Carter’s cliffhanger.  This book didn’t disappoint, let me make that perfectly clear.  I loved Playing With Fire and while I was anxiously waiting for this book to come out I didn’t know if it would live up to the same hype Playing With Fire did, it didn’t, it went above and beyond in my opinion.

I loved the relationship between Jason and Nicole.  At times it wasn’t pretty because of Jason’s actions but it was real.  Nicole knew who she wanted, Jason, but she also didn’t just lay down and let him walk all over her.  When she needed too she called him on his shit, which made me proud.  Jason, while at times a complete and utter asshat, was also a good guy.  He needed someone like Nicole to open his heart.  When he finally pulled his head out of his ass I had a tear in my eye because both he and Nicole deserved to be happy together.

Madison and Carter had a lot to work through after the tragic events that occurred at the end of Playing With Fire, and I was drawn into their pain once again.  I love the love that they share for one another, Carter love Madison so much and vice versa.  Their story has never been easy but it is one filled with emotion.  Just when you think that everything will finally work out, Chris and all the trouble he brings once again comes into play.  While this isn’t a cliffhanger like Playing With Fire was, there still is one because you don’t know what trouble Chris will cause.

Ashley Piscitelli is working her way onto my can’t wait to read what she writes next list.  I hope to be able to have the honor yet again to review the next book in the Guarded Hearts series because this one has sucked me in from the start.

When I came to the house tonight, I thought it wouldn’t be that big of a deal seeing Nic. Then she walked down the steps in that short little dress and those high ass heels. I was ready to take her upstairs as soon as she came down. Then that tool showed up and he has had his hands all over her. I’m about ready to rip his fucking hands off. When I saw her walk up to the bathroom, I knew this was my shot.
I can’t fight it anymore and now I’m determined that I will make her mine tonight. When she came out of the bathroom and saw me standing there, she smirked at me. I walked over to her, grabbed her hand, and walked her over to her bed. She opened up her mouth to speak, but I crashed mine into her before she got the chance. I pushed her down onto the bed and settled myself on top of her. I was going to remind her exactly why we were so good together.

Review: Playing With Fire (Guarded Hearts book 1) by Ashley Piscitelli

Madison Stevens has had a shitty life.  Her mother died at the age four and her father has always blamed her for it. She went through the foster system and is now attending college. Her boyfriend Chris is not willing to share Madison with anyone, not even her friends.

Her first day at college she meets Carter James, who makes her want everything she never thought she could have. She knows that she should ignore her feelings for Carter, but it's not as easy as it sounds.

As Carter and Madison begin to fall in love, they face many obstacles. Their biggest one is Chris who is not going to let her go easily.

I felt so bad for Madison, she was blamed for the death of her mother by the one person who should have taken care of her, her father.  Then she begins dating Chris and he treats her like a dog that he can abuse and control.  She knows that she needs to get away from him but feels like no one else would want her.  When she runs into Carter, literally, the connection between them is instant.  Carter knows that Chris is bad for Madison but he needs to convince her to leave him, so that he can show her how she should be treated.

As someone who has been in a violent relationship in the past, I connected with Madison.  She needed to be shown that not every man will treat her like the other ones in her life have in the past.  Once she began to blossom within the relationship with Carter, I was so happy and wanted them to be able to have a good life and relationship.

Carter was exactly who Madison needed.  He was the person who could heal her emotionally, mentally and physically.  I love Carter.  He reminds me of my savior, my husband.  He was patient with Madison when she needed it the most.  He was gentle, sweet, protective, and overall the guy she needed and deserved.

Chris, OMG I wanted to find my baseball bat and beat the living shit out of him and say how does that feel you asshole!  He just continues to make Madison’s life a living hell.  He doesn’t want to let her go and doesn’t want anyone else to have her if he can’t either.  Chris’ character was very close to real life for a lot of people, and the level he rises too is a reality check that no matter how rich or poor someone is you can never judge them based on that alone.

Now I loved this book.  I cried and smiled and jumped for joy and screamed oh hell no!  If you hate cliffhangers you may want to wait until the second book comes out because this baby has one hell of a cliffhanger!  I actually screamed out NOOOOOOOOOOOO damn it you can’t end it like this!  (And yes my husband came running thinking either I was in labor or done lost my mind.)  I was so involved in this book that I need more now!  I need to see how this plays out.  I really hope that Ms. Piscitelli hurries up and writes book two because for those who have read this book we are biting our nails to see if Carter and Madison will get their HEA.
