Review: Fighting For Flight By JB Salsbury

What happens when in order to win, you’re forced to lose?

The only daughter of an infamous Las Vegas pimp, Raven Morretti grew up an outsider. Liberated from the neglectful home of her prostitute mother, she finds solace as a mechanic. With few friends, she’s content with the simple life. Flying under the radar is all she knows, and more than she expects.

Until she catches the eye of local celebrity, UFL playboy Jonah Slade.

Weeks away from his title fight, Jonah is determined to stay focused on everything he’s trained so hard to achieve. Undefeated in the octagon, he’s at the height of his career. But resisting Raven’s effortless allure and uncomplicated nature is a fight he can’t win.

Jonah trades in his bad-boy reputation and puts his heart on the line. But when her father contacts her, setting in motion the ugly truth of her destiny, Jonah must choose. In a high-stakes gamble where love and freedom hang in the balance, a war is waged where the price of losing is a fate worse than death.

Will the hotheaded Jonah be able to restrain his inner fighter to save the woman he loves?

Or will Raven be forced into a life she’s been desperate to avoid?
For me there is something about a bad boy who has a reputation as a man whore who gets TKO’ed by a woman and is willing to change his ways but own up to the fact that this woman not only owns his heart but his soul as well.  Add in that he is willing to do whatever it takes to protect his woman, even at the cost of something for himself and doesn’t even blink at the thought and that right their ladies and gentlemen makes me love him even more.

Jonah was exactly as I just described him, a bad boy whose reputation was well known.  He is an MMA fighter, an alpha, a man whore and gets knocked on his ass, figuratively of course, when he meets Raven.  He wants her, okay that may be a slight understatement, he is drawn to her like a moth to a flame and can’t help it.

Raven is a mechanic and has not had a good life.  Her mother has never loved her, and when she learns who her father is after years of just wishing for him to be a father and love her, to say she is heartbroken is putting it lightly.  She was as drawn to Jonah as he was to her and loves that she is able to work with him to restore his car.  They continue to get closer and closer and when they finally are together holy hell I thought my kindle would catch fire.

Together Raven and Jonah are stronger and when something happens that risks their relationship I was on the edge of my seat to see what would play out.  Did you honestly think I was just going to tell you?  Come on now you know better than that so read the book. ;)

I think any fan of MMA books will love this series.  Fighting For Flight is the first book in the Fighting series and you get to meet the other fighters and let me just say these guys are all alpha men who will make you want to drop your panties in a heartbeat and will have you fighting for their attention.

Blog Tour and Giveaway: Surrender To Me by Ashley Piscitelli

Becca has no interest in meeting guys, all her life she has been judged by the actions of her mother and refuses to add to what people already believe to be true.  That is until she lends a hot guy a hand and agrees to go out with him on a date.  When she learns that he just isn’t some random guy, but a rockstar she isn’t sure if she should try to pursue anything with him.  She knows that what she feels for Luke is unlike anything else she’s ever felt before.  Can he be the one to break through her walls and own her heart?

Lucas can’t believe his luck when the girl who helps him out doesn’t realize who he is at first and agrees to go out with him.  She is everything he never knew he wanted, because let’s face it he has money, fame and no shortage of willing women.  She is special and he knows it from the minute he meet sher.  He is living out his dream of being a rockstar, but when that dream changes to include Becca will they be able to make it work or will their different lifestyles get in the way?

Becca and Luke moved quickly into their relationship, after one date they begin to spend all their time together.  Becca is uncomfortable at times with Luke taking care of her and tends to fight it when sometimes it was ridiculous to even do so.  Becca had serious trust issues when it comes to men, she hasn’t seen the good side to them thanks to how her mom earned the reputation that she has.  Luke was patient with Becca, he wanted her to be in his life and knew it from the first date.  For him, she is something special, something worth treasuring because she isn’t with him just for his fortune and fame.  Other people in their lives try to sabotage their relationship, but when they finally succeed in doing so I was pissed at Luke’s reaction and how Becca was as well.

Surrender to Me was a quick enjoyable read, I liked it.  I really wish that it had been longer so that it didn’t seem so rushed at times and that Luke and Becca’s relationship could have been further developed and more solid.  Sadly, for me it fell into the same rut of rockstar meets girl, wants girl, quickly develops relationship with girl, is an asshole to girl, then makes it up to girl and everything is ok.  That being said, I still really enjoyed it and want to continue reading about Luke and Becca in the next book.

Blog Tour and Review: For Real by Chelsea M. Cameron

We all have that friend that we sometimes look at and think “Why are we friends?” They’ll do something so incredibly stupid or insensitive, it makes us wonder. But then, they’ll turn around do something so amazingly sweet and wonderful it all makes sense. For Shannon, that friend is Hazel. But, no matter how badly Hazel behaved, and it was bad, she is the reason Shannon found Jett. She’s also the reason Jett and Shannon ended up together.

Shannon is a virgin. Her friends are doing everything they can to get Shannon to just get her cherry popped. Which leads to Shannon doing something stupid, getting into the car with a man she doesn’t know. It’s also one of the smartest things she could have done. Jett is amazing. She was lucky it was him she got into the car with.

Shannon and Jett then embark on a fake relationship to keep their friends of them. His friend, Javier, and her group of friends included.  Over the course of time, the fake relationship becomes real.

This was an enjoyable read. There wasn’t much going on. It was really about two people who become friends and then eventually lovers. It was sweet and at times romantic. Jett was an awesome boyfriend for Shannon. She needed to lighten up a bit, and eventually she did.

I did find their first time believable. Sometimes I read stories and the first time they have sex, the angels sing and confetti falls from the sky and all is glorious and wonderful. Now, I realize for some, it is like that. But, for a majority of us, not so much! It was refreshing to see a more realistic telling of a first time.

I happen to like a bit more angst and drama in my stories and this was relatively angst and drama free. However, still an enjoyable read about falling in love for the first time!

Find it on GoodReads!

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Losing Virginity by Ava Michaels

Olivia Spurgeon has been a good girl her entire life. Her friends have called her Spurgeon the Virgin since 9th grade. Why? Because everyone in her group of friends had already lost there virginity by then. Over the past four years it has been like a foreign object attached to her and even named it something simple.

Virginity.

Now, she's a freshman in college and still hasn't done the deed. All three of her roommates do not have Virginity attached to them and they aren't scared to show it off. Olivia is jealous. She wants what they are having, feeling. One day she finally decides that she doesn't want Virginity attached to her anymore and begins the journey of shedding it.

Excerpt
I set my cup to the side and leaned in to him. I gently kissed his lips that were sweet from the wine. My mind had shut off. There were no tumultuous thoughts or conflicting emotions like there had been last night. I was completely in the moment with him… Alone with him.

I gently pulled back from him and looked seriously into his eyes. I studied his face, and his hair, touching them gently as if they were made of porcelain. I leaned back in to kiss his neck and breathe no words but just my desire into his ear. His arms tightened around my waist and he pulled his breath in quickly as he pulled me on top of him. I was nervous. My body seemed to know what it wanted. My hands grasped his hair as our lips met. I felt myself pull closer and closer to him, my hips grinding gently against his.  In one motion I sat up, still straddling him and pulled the top of my dress down to expose my breasts. I didn’t feel self-conscious or awkward. I felt excited and confident and I wanted him to feel that way too. He unbuttoned his shirt, exposing his perfectly defined chest. I leaned back down and felt all the blood in my body race as the warmth of our bodies connected.

As we kissed, I reached down and, a little clumsily, unbuttoned his pants and gently pulled the zipper down. This was it. I was ready. I wanted to lose my virginity here, with this man, right now. It wasn’t the alcohol. It was him, Ryder Dawson. He was the man worthy enough.

"Are you sure?" he asked.
