Review: Selling Out (Lost Girls #2) by Amber Lin

Shelly Laurent is high priced call girl. She’s decided to get out the life and start over. But she can’t get out. Her pimp keeps pulling her back in. At the latest party her pimp has sent her to, she finds “Ella”. Ella doesn’t want to be a working girl. Shelly sets out to help her.

Shelly takes “Ella” the only place she can think to take her Detective Luke Cameron’s. While there she overhears him talking about bringing her in. Come to find out, all the men at the party she was at were killed and she and Ella are the prime suspects.

They run. Shelly does some investigating and finds out things are not as she thought.

I really wanted to like this story. I liked the first one and was looking forward to getting Shelly’s story. But the reality of the story didn’t live up to what I was looking for.

The story was a lot of exposition from Shelly on her life and what she wanted or what she thought she wanted. It was very difficult to get into it.

The ending was awesome. Full of action and Luke and Shelly fighting for each other. I loved Luke! He was awesome. He saw through Shelly’s defenses and just waited her out. He wasn’t what I thought. He was more. He was better. Shelly was very difficult for me to connect with.

I’m hoping there are more in this series. I like the idea of it and I really want to read more.

ARC Review: One Night with a Cowboy by Cat Johnson

What’s hotter than a cowboy? A cowboy who’s a soldier! Mmmmm….. Men in Uniform are my weakness. Cowboy butts in Wranglers are yet another. Put them together and OMG! I just died went to heaven! *swoon* Now, for the cherry on top, Tucker is a bull rider, oh yeah…..

BRING. IT. ON.

Meet Tucker
Hottie Cowboy
Bull Rider
Soldier

Cat Johnson has written a beautiful story about a Cowboy/Soldier and his “one night stand” with a NYC City Girl. This one was fun and it was hot!

Dr. Becca Hart has had a rough day. She lost her job as a university professor at Vassar due to “cutbacks” and when she gets home, she finds her boyfriend of 2 years secretly moving out. Weeks later she finds herself at a job interview at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. A far cry from Vassar and NYC.

While there for her interview, Becca and her sister head out to the rodeo to absorb some local culture. While there Becca meets Tucker Jenkins and her sister meets his friend. I was really hoping for a romance between Becca’s sister and Tucker’s friend, and apparently there is, just not the friend I thought! There’s more coming in this series and OMG! I can’t wait!  Squee!!!

Becca and Tucker set out to have a one-night stand. And OMG! They have a make-out session in the cab of Tucker’s truck that will make you wish for Inspiration Point and a HOT cowboy.

Of course, things are never what they seem. Before long Tucker and Becca find out they are both working for OSU. Sparks fly and so do their tempers. It was awesome to watch and hotter than hell!

This was a great story and I LOVED it! We have showers, honey, a kitchen counter, the library, the cab of a truck, and the list goes on. Not only is the sex burning up the sheets between them, the romance is sweet. Tucker is the kind of guy every girl wants to find. He’s a gentleman, he’s hot, he great in bed, and above all else, he puts the girl first.

Remember ladies...

Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy!!

Review: Call Me, Maybe by Liz Adams

Call Me, Maybe: Sexual Caresses at an Airport is a fun short story. Liz Adams has created a wonderful story that will ensnare you. You'll wonder about the interactions between two people attracted to each other. What draws them to each other? What makes them act they way they do? What makes them act on those desires? Even if they just met! This is a great story! While it is a short-story, it’s packed with some amazing passion.

This story was really different from any other I've read. While there's lots of passion and some hot groping, there's no sex. It's actually kind of funny when you think about it. The premise is original and the fact that the POV is the man's makes it that much more fun!

You should definitely pick this one up!

Review: Swept Away by Toni Blake

HOLY HOT SMOKING SEX! So much of it too!

Five days before Kats wedding, she takes off to her families private island to get away one last time before her wedding to a man that she likes but doesn't love. She figures this is her last chance to relax and unwind by herself before marrying into a loveless marriage. What she didn't expect was to find her old crush, Brock, on the same beach.

Kat hasn't seen Brock in years until he washes up on the shore-literally. Brock is in danger and clearly needs help. In a race against time to save Brock's life, old feelings start to simmer between them. We are taken on a journey through a beautiful lush island, where not only a race to save their lives heats up- but so does their love.

LOVE LOVE Toni Blake! I have most of her novels and they are all filled with drama or suspense and emotional story lines with hot steamy romance. You can't go wrong with this author. Sadly, this book fell a little short for me. The sex, while steaming hot, was not appropriate at times. It just didn't fit some of the scenes while they're on the run. Not sure about you, but if I had mad men chasing after me with guns through a jungle on an island with no site of land for miles, the furthest thing from my mind would be sex at the top of the hill. But hey, different strokes for different folks. I would still recommend this book in the end.

Generational Sins by Samantha Blair

4 Stars
Amazon link-  Generational Sins

This book is unlike anything I've ever read before. Maybe because I haven't read too many bdsm novels before or because I've only read the "good" side of bdsm. Well, this was the "good" and the "bad" side of bdsm and I was captivated by it.

I'm not sure why either. At first, I thought the heroine (Kat) was a very damaged woman. I was wrong. I didn't understand at all why she wanted love the way she did. The more I read the more I understood her and what she wanted....and I was ok with it. I personally am not one for bdsm, but it is interesting to read. I think this book made it ok for me...in a way. The spankings and submission is truly what Kat needed.

I have always said that I will never ever stand by and be verbally and physically abused, that's goes for sexually abused as well. I grew up around people verbally and physically abusing each other. I'm not sure why woman do it, I can only imagine why, but I know for sure that I would not and could not let that ever happen to me. It's one thing to like sex rough, there are times when we all want it (let's be honest), but its another to be called 'slut' while you're having it or to be slapped so hard you have bruises on you. And that's what happened in this book. I was totally taken back by it since I've never read it before, let alone let that happen to me.

I should start off by saying that this story has two main focuses...in a way, and two different time lines, which most people might have a problem with. I didn't. I actually enjoyed reading the different time lines, because, well, it was done just right. Each chapter was either past or present time. I wasn't lost or confused and I looked forward to each chapter. There are also two point of views as well. Again, not hard to follow and you get the hang of it early on. We have the main couple, David and Kat and the secondary couple, David's parents, Richard and Ellen. And although the story is meant to focus on David and Kat, the parents are such a strong focus as well.

David's father, Richard, sees woman as a lesser equal. He believes woman are suppose to submit and obey to men. David doesn't agree. But he wants to make his father proud so he starts to follow what his father says and make up lies to please him along the way....that is until Kat shows up. I lost so much faith in David....even though Kat was on board with it all.

David and Kat are both in college when they meet, starting off as lab partners. Their relationship is purely platonic yet both having feelings for each other. David feels an instant attraction to her and fights it as long as he can, that is until they meet by chance at the same club. Surprisingly to both, they enjoy the same flavor of love making. But David doesn't know what it means to be a Dom. So Kat takes the initiative and tops from the bottom, guiding David into the role of the dominate.

This book was so out of my comfort level but I think it's what I needed too. We see what it's like to be abused and loved at the same time. This book has a lot of sex in it but it needs to have it in order to understand the story. It was graphic but not dirty graphic...again, it's needed. There were some reviews I read where people were actually stunned with how David's mother, Ellen, acted after Richard's death. How can you be surprised by it! It was abused on so many levels (for 30 years!) it was scary! She probably saw it as a relief that he was no longer there to torture her and her son David.

I truly felt that David and Kat loved each other more than words can express....even though at time I wanted to strangle David for what he allowed.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. A lot. I was a little upset with the ending though and how rushed it felt. We have this long drawn out mentally draining story, a great story, but the end was wrapped up so quickly that I can't help but be little upset about that. Kat's ex-Dom is called in to help with some issues and I expected more out of that. I was beyond excited when he was called in too. In the end, this book is worth more than the 99 cents it's price at on Amazon.
