Review: Holiday Games by Jaci Burton

The entire Riley clan is back for this holiday novella.  While prepping for Jenna and Ty’s upcoming wedding, things are already stressful.  Add to that Liz and Gavin trying to get pregnant and not having any luck then it is making Liz even more stressed.  She cannot tolerate failure, not even when it comes to getting pregnant.  She is a woman on a mission and poor Gavin is her target.  Trust me when I say that they get in loads of practice at trying to get pregnant, not that either was complaining mind you, but you could tell the stress it was adding to their marriage.

I loved this glimpse into Liz and Gavin’s marriage and this is something that a lot of couples who are trying to get pregnant face, the constant let down when it doesn’t happen.  I myself have been there so for me I completely understood Liz’s frustration, especially when there is no reason for you not to get pregnant during one of the million of times you are going at it like rabbits.  Gavin during all of this was what a husband should be, supportive, loving, and always there for his wife, even when she is acting like a stressed out crazy person.

I have loved this series since it started, and my favorite so far is Changing The Game, which is Liz and Gavin’s book so for me this novella about them just made me love their story even more.  I hope that in the future that Jaci Burton gives us more glimpses into the Riley family after their stories have been told.  If you are a fan of sports, hot guys, and some smoking hot sex then make sure you check not just this novella out, but the entire Play by Play series, you won’t be disappointed.

Blog Tour and Giveaway: His Wicked Games by Ember Casey

Trapped with a billionaire in his mysterious mansion... Can she beat him at his own game?

Lily Frazer would do anything to save the Frazer Center for the Arts—even take on the infamous billionaire Calder Cunningham. When Lily breaks onto the Cunningham estate, she only wants to find and reason with Calder. (All right, all right, she wants to punch him in the face too, but that's Plan B.) As it turns out, the arrogant billionaire is willing to give her the money he promised, but there's a catch: she must win it from him.

And the games he has in mind aren't exactly... innocent.

Lily isn't about to give up the money without a fight (or let some haughty bastard seduce her), but she quickly discovers that there might be more to the brooding Calder than she initially perceived. As their games of cat and mouse become increasingly sexual in nature, she suddenly finds herself confused by her own emotions. Can she deny her attraction long enough to win the money she needs?

I don’t even know where to start with this book.  I really liked it, but Lily seriously made me want to reach into my kindle and bitch slap her.  I understood where she was coming from wanting to help her father and save the Center, but after a while I wanted to say enough already!  She was so narrow sighted that she missed the signs that Calder was going through his own issues.

I loved Calder, while what he did wasn’t right, he won me over from almost the start.  The love he felt for his family home was obvious.  He wanted Lily, and his games were ones I would have loved to play with him.  I will never look at hide and seek the same again.  He was protective and loving and sexy as hell.  I would have loved to get some of his POV throughout the story just to see how he reacted to how bitchy and selfish Lily acted at times, and too see how he felt when she finds out the truth.

His Wicked Games is a play on Beauty and the Beast, but is its own story. It’s sexy, has heart break, and romance, it has what a romance book should have.  I am curious to see how the next book will play out and what types of games Lily and Calder will be playing this time.
