Blog Tour: Payton's Pursuit By Joanne Jaytanie

Payton Winters is thrust into the position of CEO of The Winters Corporation after the sudden death of her parents. Confronted with the knowledge she was born with special abilities, she finds herself in the dilemma of being a grounding force to people who possess psychic powers. She has unwillingly become the mental anchor to the one man she wants no part of, Collin McBain. While on a routine mission, Collin is drugged, tortured, and injected with wolf DNA. Now believed dead, he is secretly assigned to the Winters Campus.

Faced with the reality that her life is based on half-truths, Payton is on a pursuit to uncover her mother’s scientific research. She desperately needs to understand why she and her two sisters were genetically altered before birth. Payton’s path to discovery is littered with danger as she finds herself embroiled in a world of secrets, lies, kidnapping, and murder. She struggles to understand the events of the past in order to cope with her future. Will Payton’s pursuit for the truth be her last?

Payton’s Pursuit is the second book in the series, and while it can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading book one first so that certain things make more sense.  I don’t want to get into a huge recap of the book because I don’t want to spoil anything so I am going to keep this short and sweet.

Payton’s Pursuit is a pretty good read, it has suspense, paranormal elements, hilarity and of course it has romance.  I really enjoyed both Payton’s and Collin’s characters throughout the entire book, which for me is kind of rare because usually at some point a character has irritated me but that didn’t happen in this case at all.

Prior to reading Chasing Victory and Payton’s Pursuit I had not read anything from the author but I can promise that I will be reading more from her in the future.  I think if you are a fan of suspense and the paranormal you will not only enjoy Payton’s Pursuit but the first book, Chasing Victory, as well.

Joanne was born and raised in Sherburne, New York, a quaint village surrounded by dairy farms and rolling hills. From the moment she could read she wanted to explore the world. During her college years she slowly crept across the country, stopping along the way in Oklahoma, California, and finally Washington State, which she now proudly calls home. She lives with her husband and Dobermans, in their home located on the Kitsap Peninsula with a panoramic view of the Olympic Mountains.

Joanne writes paranormal, romantic suspense, and contemporary romance. She loves writing about the twists and turns of her character’s lives along with the trouble they find themselves involved in. She enjoys a wide variety of books including paranormal, suspense, thriller, and of course romance.

Joanne is a member of Romance Writers of America, and past President of Peninsula Romance Writers, which was Debbie Macomber’s home chapter.

Review: The Vampire Of Vancouver By Liz Meldon

The Vamp of Vancouver - Liz Meldon
The Vampire of Vancouver (Lovers and Liars, #2)

Aphrodite, goddess of love and lust, is not impressed. After giving up her penthouse suite in trendy Manhattan to go monster hunting around the world, she finds herself in a sad hotel room in Vancouver with a decidedly distracted Loki. She hadn't expected this job to be so serious, and her Norse partner isn't exactly bowing to her whims these days. What was the point in coming with him if they weren’t beneath the sheets all hours of the day? It seems like such a waste of sexual compatibility. Humph.

Meanwhile, Loki, Norse trickster, is equally unimpressed. He hadn't thought taking a beautiful partner along would make his work so difficult. Her unfocused energy grates on his nerves, and his lust for her is only surpassed by his desire for more godly power. He will complete this job, whether she likes it or not, and he’ll walk away one step closer to regaining his old abilities. Now, if only he can get his partner to focus on the task at hand, not seduction. Ridiculous woman.

Aphrodite and Loki, an unlikely team if there ever was one, find themselves in the City of Vancouver hunting vampires. The job is pretty straightforward: rescue the damsel, kill the monster. Unfortunately, even the easiest of jobs hardly ever go according to plan.
Before reading The Vampire Of Vancouver, please make sure you read The Maenad Of Manhattan, you will get a better idea of Loki and Aphrodite’s relationship and how it began.

I love all things mythological and paranormal, combine the two and I am one happy reader to put it lightly.  Add in a little humor, some hot sex scenes and a little drama and suspense and I am an even happier reader.  The Vampire Of Vancouver has all those things and more.  I kept seeing the first book on my Facebook feeds or if I was searching for other books it would pop up and had wanted to check it out, so when this tour became available I jumped as soon as I saw it and signed up.  I will admit it has it’s cheesy moments but I really did like not just this book but the first one as well.  Loki is the perfect amount of smart ass stubborn male to Aphrodite’s sometimes flighty but hilarious female.

I really am curious to see what will happen next for Loki and Aphrodite, I have a feeling that Loki may be holding back his feelings and if he is I want to see this god be knocked on his divine ass.  Liz Meldon has written a funny series that I think most readers will enjoy, I know I did.

Keanu Raine is a fire fighter, and has fought the most dangerous forest fires for years as a smokejumper. His training has served him well, but his ability as a fire elemental has saved lives many times over, on he had no plans to quit any time soon. Cammie has loved Keanu since the day he rescued her when she was a twelve year old girl trapped in a tree. But now, her school girl crush is a woman’s lust. But Keanu has blown into town before, is he really here to stay this time? Keanu’s investigation into the arson plaguing his hometown is heating up, and so is his relationship with Cammie. But it soon becomes clear that Cammie isn’t a bystander, she is a target. As Keanu tries to uncover the truth, things turn deadly, and as the smoke clears there is more than just one elemental who has their sights set on Cammie.

FireStarter Excerpt She looked up, stunning him with her gorgeous smile. “I’m free all weekend. Oh, God, I didn’t mean that I want, or that I meant…” Cammie’s face scrunched up. “Dang it, I’m messing this all up. I meant to say, that I don’t have to work next weekend at all. What did you have in mind?” Stifling a laugh, Keanu squeezed her hand. “I was thinking that maybe we could go for a picnic and do some hiking. I haven’t roamed the forests around here in years, and you said you still like to climb trees.” “I’ll never live that down.” She covered her face with one hand. “Do you know my mother still teases me about that? And to add insult to injury, I had to wear a stupid boot thingy, all because I’d bruised several bones.” “No shit? I’m glad I insisted on carrying you all the way home. You could’ve seriously injured yourself.” Cammie peeked at him from between her fingers. “Well you did, and I’m fine, so let’s pretend it didn’t happen.” She cringed, her embarrassment clear to see. Keanu loved the blush that stole up her neck and into her face. Thinking about Cammie blushing as he made her come had his comfy jeans a little tight. He shifted in his seat, adjusting himself discreetly. He reached across the small space and tugged her hand away from her gorgeous face. “Thank you for having dinner with me. Would you like some dessert?” “I couldn’t eat another bite.” She rubbed her stomach. “I had a really great time tonight.” “You sound surprised.” He smiled and watched her yawn again. “I did, too. Are you ready?” At her nod he motioned for the check. He paid the bill and waved the waiter away, telling him to keep the change. When Cammie made a move to get up, Keanu stood and pulled her chair out, placing his hand at the small of her back. He didn’t miss the way her body shivered; it was a feeling he wholeheartedly agreed with. The small gesture caused flames to lick up his torso. He banked down the internal heat, leading her out to her car. “Did I tell you that I love your Jeep?” She turned to look at him. “You do, huh? Would you like to drive her next weekend?” Keanu groaned. “Please tell me you didn’t give her, and I stress her, some silly name?” “I did not name her something silly.” She waited a beat. “Her name is…wait for it, wait for it…Lightning.” The little minx was laughing at him, and damn if he didn’t enjoy it. “Like Lightning McQueen?” he joked. “No, like the lightning in the sky.” Cammie slapped his arm. “She’s a big bolt of it.” “I like that a lot. Lightning and thunder are my favorite parts of a storm.” “Mine, too.” When they reached her vehicle, Keanu turned her to face him, smiling down at her upturned face. He traced her bow-shaped mouth with the tip of his finger. Keeping her anchored to him with one arm, he wrapped the other around her waist, loving how she fit perfectly to him. He gave her plenty of time to reject his kiss. Seeing her eyes close, and feeling her body molding to his was his undoing. Keanu meant to take it slow, to give her a light, almost friendly kiss. But having her softness, against all his hardness, sent him reeling, and devouring her mouth became his goal. * * * * Cammie wrapped her arms around his shoulders. In her three-inch wedge espadrilles, she reached his chin, making them a perfect match. His tongue invaded her mouth, tangling with her own, the taste of the spicy food they had eaten exploding in her mouth, like another sweet temptation. She sucked in a breath, aching from the kiss, her heart thudding with excitement at her first real taste of him. He gentled the kiss, brushing his mouth lightly over her parted lips, then nipped her bottom one. Cammie felt the tremor that wracked his large frame, happy to realize that she wasn’t the only one affected. She had known since the age of twelve that this man was it for her. Now, ten years later, she realized her desire for him had only intensified, had become a woman’s need in place of a young girl’s infatuation. The times she had seen him in town over the years had always awoken a hunger, but she hadn’t thought she had a chance since he didn’t live there anymore. Now, with him pressed against her, she was aware of his powerful erection jutting against the juncture between her legs. Her own desire flooded her panties, but Cammie was shocked to feel Keanu pulling away. “You’re fucking amazing,” Keanu murmured. “What?” she asked dazed. “I don’t want to rush you. I want to savor every moment, every sigh you make.” He captured her lips in another heated kiss. Kissing him was a major feast to her starving senses. All thoughts fled her brain as he deepened the kiss, and drew her closer to his arousal. She sucked on his tongue, and nipped his lip like he had done to her, before licking the small hurt. Rushing sounded really good to her at that moment.

Elle Boon Author Bio I’m a wife and mother who is a retired stay at home mom of 2. I say retired because my youngest is 14 and my oldest is 20. When my baby went to school, reading saved my sanity, and then the same year he started school, I was diagnosed with Cancer, again reading saved my sanity. When I recovered and realized how quickly life could change, I made a bucket list. The number one thing was to live. Check. On top of that list was to become a published author. Check. Eight years later I have accomplished that goal and several others. I live in the Midwest, but I”m a southern girl with only a slight twang who says y’all quite frequently, and am known to say “Bless Your Heart” A LOT. If you know what that means, you do not want to be the one I say that to, lol. I cuss worse than if a trucker and a sailor were put together, but I do it with class *WEG*. I write what I love to read, erotic romance. My books are definitely full of lots of story, but I leave nothing to the imagination in or out of the bedroom. My hope is that after readers have read one of my stories, they fall in love with the characters as much as I have. The best part of my new journey is that I get to create new worlds, and have all kinds of stories in my head just waiting to be written. I truly love to hear from readers. You can find me on Twitter, Facebook or my webside, but I’m on Facebook ALL the time, so find me. I’d love to hear from you J

Review: Finding Freedom (Centre Games Series #3) By Natalie Gayle

Dylan “Ice Dragon” Thompson has suddenly become the hottest thing in MMA. He’s fought all his life for control and inner peace. He focuses on what he excels at—fighting and his work with the Centre. It’s what he knows and what keeps him in balance. His latest assignment has him fighting a war with a partner he doesn’t believe he can trust.

Vanessa Aldridge has grown up in the gym and has seen it all—some good, some bad. But when performance-enhancing drugs threaten her life and her personal sense of worth—enough is enough. The very people closest to her now have her questioning their motives and nobody is as they seem. On top of all this, she’s unwittingly become the number-one pawn in an organised crime game and she’s risking her heart on a guy who wants to fight for everything but them.

Vanessa quickly discovers that Dylan is far from what he appears to be. But what happens when his latest assignment blows his carefully created world wide open? Can Dylan win the most important fight of all—the one for her heart and their future? Or will he retreat back into the one-dimensional existence of working and fighting? Can Vanessa remain steadfast to her principles and just maybe take the ultimate prize? The battle lines are drawn.

Finding Freedom is the third book in the Centre Games series and I will be completely honest when I say any doubts about this series have gone completely out the door because I am now totally in love with these books.  It is safe to say that Finding Freedom is my favorite of the series so far.

I was waiting for my kindle to catch on fire because the sexual tension between Dylan and Vanessa was so flammable the tiniest spark would ignite the flames.  Dylan is one sexy as hell male that I want to lick.  Okay that may have gotten a little too personal but you get the idea right?  He is an alpha male, a MMA fighter and sexy as hell.  Still wishing I could lick him…

Anyways if you still haven’t been sold on this series yet I promise you that Finding Freedom will not only seal the deal but will have you wishing you had a Dylan of your own.  I will give props where props are due and Natalie Gayle you have made at the beginning an on the fence about this series reviewer solidly pick a side and that side is the one that loves the Centre Games series.

Review: Finding Judgement (Centre Games Series #2) By Natalie Gayle

Finding Judgement - Centre Games Book 2

Rory Southall’s dreams have been haunted by the beautiful blonde pixie he’d helped three months ago. Imagine his surprise when his next assignment is to investigate none other than the very same woman.

TJ Walsh is holding on to her family’s trucking company by a thread. For the last two and a half years, she’s been trying to keep the debt-ridden business afloat and her family fed. She’s driven and desperate to make ends meet. But she remembers every detail of a chance meeting three months ago with a handsome stranger.

What happens when a simple supply chain investigation morphs into a deadly web of lies and deceit and TJ finds herself squarely in the middle of it? It seems that very same handsome stranger has rescued her again, but how could that be? And how exactly does the illegal genetically modified products he’s investigating have anything to do with her?

How will she cope with knowing the danger is much closer to home than she thought? When everyone seems to be gunning for them, can she find love and salvation with Rory before it’s too late?

Finding Judgement is the second book in the Centre Games series and let me tell you while I may have liked the first book overall, this one is so much better and made me want to continue reading this series.  It has those sci-fi, paranormal romance elements that the first book had but I just had an even better experience with Rory and TJ’s story.  I have got to admit I am impressed.

I loved Rory and TJ and I especially loved Rory’s determination to be with TJ and to prove to her that being together would be something special.  He is funny and his nickname Surfer Boy fits him.  TJ is feisty and sassy and everything I love in a female character.  TJ is not in a good situation at all when they first meet and that just adds to her not wanting to date Rory.  And no I am not going to tell you what her situation is, you will have to read the book.

I think my one big issue with this book was that some parts were drawn out and that could make some readers lose interest but I also think that if you are invested in Rory and TJ’s story that you will be able to overlook that and just continue on.  Like I said in the beginning of this review, in my opinion Finding Judgement is so much better than the first book and has made me want to continue on to see what the rest of the series has in store for us readers.

Review: Finding Trust (Centre Games Series #1) By Natalie Gayle

Finding Trust – Book 1 Centre Games Series

Brayden and Rihanna

He’s hot, sexy, and leads a double life. Sometimes in the limelight, mostly in the shadows. Brayden James holds fast to a secret that’s more than his to share.

She’s a singularly focused veterinarian out for a rare night of fun with friends, at a New Year’s Eve rock concert. Going home with the lead guitarist was furthest thing from Rihanna Mason’s mind when the night began.

When Rihanna inadvertently becomes the target of a deadly terrorist plot using the Hendra virus as a biological weapon, Brayden is forced to reveal his other life. His job is to keep her safe and together they must stop the terrorists before it’s too late. But what happens when she becomes more to him than just the assignment?

Will the secret he cannot disclose ultimately prove too much for Rihanna’s fragile trust in relationships? Or will he finally break through the double brick walls around her heart, where every other man has failed?

I am always open to finding a new author, new book or even a new series to give a chance.  I also love a lot of different genres (which if you all read my reviews you will already know this) so when I was offered the opportunity to start the Centre Games series I jumped on board and said hell yes I will give it a chance.  Finding Trust is a mix of sci-fi, paranormal, suspense and romance.  Yes that seems like a weird combination but it works.

Now I will admit when I first started reading Finding Trust I wasn’t sure what to think and I didn’t know if I would like this book, let alone have to read an entire series or not.  But, I kept reading and while at times I still wasn’t sure I kept on and I am glad I did because overall I enjoyed this book.  I wasn’t sure about Brayden and Rihanna as a couple and it took me longer than usual to feel comfortable with them and actually like them together.

Overall, I enjoyed Finding Trust, I didn’t love it but I did like it.  I have a feeling this series will be on that has to grow on its readers and some will love it completely and some may not.  I just hope you all give it a chance, I am glad I did because I did end up liking it.
