Fear struck through me. I hated the conversation directed to me, particularly when there were strangers involved. I could have cursed Tori. She knew better than to put me on the spot like this. I could just see her smirking face across the table from underneath my lashes as my throat started to constrict.

“You’re more than welcome to come along and watch. I encourage people to come along and see for themselves what it’s all about.” Oh, there was that voice again.

I was torn. I didn’t want to look up. I didn’t want to see the embarrassment and the man with the beautiful voice looking uncomfortable when he realised what my face looked like.

Surely there was a limit to the torture?

Manners, fear, self-consciousness all warred within me.

The silence around me was deafening. I could tell they were all waiting. I could feel three sets of eyes on me watching and wondering if I was actually going to respond. Finally I took a deep breath. What did it matter if he rejected me? It had happened before, and it would happen again. I could do this. It would hurt, but I was no stranger to pain, both physical and emotional.

Very slowly I raised my chin and turned just slightly towards him. I didn’t say anything. I couldn’t because my throat was closed in fear and uncertainty.

The first thing I noticed was the dark jeans that hung on narrow hips, then a white T-shirt that emphasised his flat belly and defined pecs. Bravely, I raised my eyes a little higher and the pecs ran into a set of wide shoulders. There was a hint of a tattoo peeking out from under one of his short sleeves. It only made his bicep look more delicious and enticing.

I took one final harsh intake of air and allowed my eyes to complete their journey. They travelled up and up the column of his corded neck to his wide angular jaw.

His full lips were slightly turned up in what looked like a half smile or was it amusement? I could only image how it would look once the shock registered when he saw my face.

Above those lips, that looked far too sensual for any man, was a long straight nose with a hint of a flare to the nostrils. The knot in my stomach tightened even further as I finally tilted my head back far enough so my eyes could meet his.

Every muscle in my body was tensed waiting for the shock, horror and embarrassment I was about to see, once my scars registered with his brain. It was an involuntary reaction I realised. Nobody could hide it, no matter how hard they tried. It was just the shock and surprise. I don’t blame them for their reactions, it just hurt that was all.

I raised my eyelids that final few millimetres and forced my eyes to focus on his. Right then and there the world stopped spinning for me. Time halted. My sisters faded into the background and I looked into the eyes of one of the most compelling people I had ever seen. Oh, he was handsome, but he was so much more.

But that was not what had me struck dumb—nope that wasn’t it.

It was his eyes—those bottomless pools of black onyx. I did a mental double take. For eyes so dark they should have appeared cold and icy.

But they didn’t—they weren’t cold at all. They were warm and rich. Right then was the first time I could recall in the last five years, a stranger looking at me with warmth in their eyes. Not shock, not pity, not embarrassment. It was warmth.

The shock paralysed me. I didn’t know what to do or how to act. My brain was shorting out. Nothing made sense. Somewhere in the back of my mind I registered my leg being kicked under the table, but even that didn’t break through my connection with those eyes. I wanted to swim in them, wrap myself in their warmth and burrow down tight.

I have no idea how much time passed.

Finally, he thrust his hand forward to me and without conscious thought, I placed my hand in his to shake. What happened next shocked me even more.

He lent across the table and pulled me into a loose hug and brushed his lips against my left cheek.

My brain was fried and my nerves were all misfiring. Nothing made sense. I was so far out of my comfort zone.

He pulled back slowly and gave me a smile that I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

Then he spoke and his words seemed to swirl around me in a caress.

“Hi Eden. I’m Xander Todd.” Suddenly, I realised I had no box to categorise him into.

Can these two wounded souls find the inner strength to fight back the demons together and find the beauty in their lives once again?

To do this, they must first accept—The hardest demons to defeat are the ones inside. They’ll have to be BRAVE.
I was first introduced to this author when I reviewed her previous series for a different tour and really liked the books so when I saw that she had a new series out I was excited to check it out.  Especially when I read the blurb I wanted to read it even more so I jumped and signed on as soon as I could to read and review Brave.  Let me tell you, I was expecting it to be emotional, angsty and possible a little on the darker side.  What I didn’t expect was to be sucked in from the start and be completely unable to do anything but read until I reached the very end.

This book was proof that beauty can come from pain and that even the worst of out demons can be battled when you are with someone who heals you.  I quickly fell in love with Xander, my heart broke for Eden, I cried tears of sadness, anger, loss and finally love.  Be prepared Brave will pull your emotions from your body on more than one occasion.  This is the first book of the series and I will anxiously await the next.

Blog Tour: Finding Resolution By Natalie Gayle

Finally, Dr. Jasmine Carter (Jazz) was getting her shot at taking the lead on one of the Centre’s highly covert operations. Great, wonderful, a dream come true even—you’d think. Well, that was until Mr. Tall, Dark, and Broody—Quade Roston, her fellow Centre co-worker—was assigned to be her partner.

For the last twelve months, these two had been at war. In fact, they’d elevated trading verbal barbs to the level of an international sport. For all the antagonism, the chemistry between them was just as strong. They both knew it—their teammates knew it. But what the hell were they going to do about it?

Simple—Jazz issues a challenge to Quade that she thinks he’ll never accept nor live up to.

Then their seemingly straightforward assignment to investigate a few cases of a mystery illness suddenly morphs into something much more deadly. Jazz finds herself the unknowing target in the middle of a bikie war. Now she’s dealing with threats from all corners. But maybe, just maybe, the biggest threat will be to her heart.

If you have been paying attention to the blog posts, I reviewed the first three books of this series and posted my reviews yesterday.  The series at first had me wondering if I would even like it, but with each book I liked them each more and more.  Finding Resolution has kept with the trend and once again I really liked this book.  There is just something about this series that has me going back for more.  Maybe it’s that uniqueness the series has, or maybe it is the banter and sexiness between characters.  Whatever it is I just can’t get enough.  This is a perfect example of how giving a book or in this instance a series a chance even when you aren’t really sure can open your eyes to some really great books.

I want you all to read this series so I am not going to go into a lot of detail in this review but I will say this.  We have been waiting for Jazz and Quade’s story since book one and it did not disappoint!  The back and forth between these two is hilarious at times, the sex is smoking hot, and the action will keep you on the edge of your seat.  Take my word you do not want to miss out on this series.

A few minutes later, she pulled her coffee from under the machine when the front door opened. Quade walked in, looking all sexy and macho in his jogging gear. Or more accurately—his lack thereof. He wore only loose athletic shorts. His magnificent body was bare. The discarded shirt was tucked into the waistband of his shorts and trailed behind. In his hands, he juggled a couple of large bakery bags and the smell of warm butter croissants filled her nostrils. Croissants were an absolute favorite of hers. More brownie points for Mr. Roston this morning. “Hey, sexy lady—you sleep well?” His deep and low voice immediately made her hot for him. “I just woke up. You been out long?” “I headed out around five.” “Five! That’s so early.” “You know we don’t need to sleep much, Jazz. I got about two or three hours. That’s fine. I was feeling restless so I headed out.” “I’m surprised you didn’t wake me.” She gave him a very suggestive look. “Don’t worry—I thought about it long and hard.” Two could play at innuendos, it seemed. “Why didn’t you do something about it then?” “Because I figured you needed the sleep. As it is, you’ve only have a couple more hours than me. You need more.” Jazz tried to keep her heart under control at his concern. “I wouldn’t want you to be tired and bitchy.” Her temper sprang to life. Ah—she should have known. He just couldn’t help it. Just when she thought he was being sweet, he went and ruined it. “I don’t get bitchy.” Quade paused from unloading the bakery bags on the table. “You sure about that?” “Absolutely.” “Well, I guess this is another one of those areas that we’ll have to agree to disagree.” “What the hell are you talking about?” “I thought it was straightforward? We’re talking about you being bitchy when you don’t get enough sleep.” He was so frustrating. “And how would you know anyway? This is the only time we’ve spent the night together.” “I’ve spent the last twelve months observing you from a distance. I know more about you than you think.” “Well, that may be the case but I’m not bitchy.” “Alright then, you’re not bitchy. Just incredibly hot when you’re out of sorts.” “You think I’m hot when I’m grouchy?” “I do, and you just admitted you get grouchy!” Ahh! He was a pain in her backside. A very sexy one but a pain in the arse nonetheless. “You are a very strange and annoying man.” She huffed, trying not to get pulled too quickly into an argument. “No doubt about that, but that’s why you find me irresistible.” A cheeky grin turned up the corner of his mouth. Was she really having this conversation? Jazz placed the two cups of coffee she’d made on the table. “Who says I find you irresistible?” She stood back, hands on her hips; her eyes flashed, looking for a fight. Almost quicker than her eyes could see, his hand snapped out and caught her around the wrist and pulled her in tight to his body. Before she could utter a word, he’d taken a seat at the table with her safely perched on his lap. His lips crashed down on hers as her protest started to escape. His tongue thrust inside and suddenly she was lost to all rational thought—her body just responded to his demands. Their kiss started at scorching hot and kept climbing till it topped out at what felt like nuclear fusion. One of his hands tangled in her hair and held her head in place for him to plunder and the other caressed her back, ribs, and finally settled on her breast. He pulled away slightly. “Mmm, you smell of sex, me, and that spicy body wash you use. Delicious—I love it.” His voice was little more than a low rumbly growl and goose bumps shot up her arms.

Review: Finding Freedom (Centre Games Series #3) By Natalie Gayle

Dylan “Ice Dragon” Thompson has suddenly become the hottest thing in MMA. He’s fought all his life for control and inner peace. He focuses on what he excels at—fighting and his work with the Centre. It’s what he knows and what keeps him in balance. His latest assignment has him fighting a war with a partner he doesn’t believe he can trust.

Vanessa Aldridge has grown up in the gym and has seen it all—some good, some bad. But when performance-enhancing drugs threaten her life and her personal sense of worth—enough is enough. The very people closest to her now have her questioning their motives and nobody is as they seem. On top of all this, she’s unwittingly become the number-one pawn in an organised crime game and she’s risking her heart on a guy who wants to fight for everything but them.

Vanessa quickly discovers that Dylan is far from what he appears to be. But what happens when his latest assignment blows his carefully created world wide open? Can Dylan win the most important fight of all—the one for her heart and their future? Or will he retreat back into the one-dimensional existence of working and fighting? Can Vanessa remain steadfast to her principles and just maybe take the ultimate prize? The battle lines are drawn.

Finding Freedom is the third book in the Centre Games series and I will be completely honest when I say any doubts about this series have gone completely out the door because I am now totally in love with these books.  It is safe to say that Finding Freedom is my favorite of the series so far.

I was waiting for my kindle to catch on fire because the sexual tension between Dylan and Vanessa was so flammable the tiniest spark would ignite the flames.  Dylan is one sexy as hell male that I want to lick.  Okay that may have gotten a little too personal but you get the idea right?  He is an alpha male, a MMA fighter and sexy as hell.  Still wishing I could lick him…

Anyways if you still haven’t been sold on this series yet I promise you that Finding Freedom will not only seal the deal but will have you wishing you had a Dylan of your own.  I will give props where props are due and Natalie Gayle you have made at the beginning an on the fence about this series reviewer solidly pick a side and that side is the one that loves the Centre Games series.

Review: Finding Judgement (Centre Games Series #2) By Natalie Gayle

Finding Judgement - Centre Games Book 2

Rory Southall’s dreams have been haunted by the beautiful blonde pixie he’d helped three months ago. Imagine his surprise when his next assignment is to investigate none other than the very same woman.

TJ Walsh is holding on to her family’s trucking company by a thread. For the last two and a half years, she’s been trying to keep the debt-ridden business afloat and her family fed. She’s driven and desperate to make ends meet. But she remembers every detail of a chance meeting three months ago with a handsome stranger.

What happens when a simple supply chain investigation morphs into a deadly web of lies and deceit and TJ finds herself squarely in the middle of it? It seems that very same handsome stranger has rescued her again, but how could that be? And how exactly does the illegal genetically modified products he’s investigating have anything to do with her?

How will she cope with knowing the danger is much closer to home than she thought? When everyone seems to be gunning for them, can she find love and salvation with Rory before it’s too late?

Finding Judgement is the second book in the Centre Games series and let me tell you while I may have liked the first book overall, this one is so much better and made me want to continue reading this series.  It has those sci-fi, paranormal romance elements that the first book had but I just had an even better experience with Rory and TJ’s story.  I have got to admit I am impressed.

I loved Rory and TJ and I especially loved Rory’s determination to be with TJ and to prove to her that being together would be something special.  He is funny and his nickname Surfer Boy fits him.  TJ is feisty and sassy and everything I love in a female character.  TJ is not in a good situation at all when they first meet and that just adds to her not wanting to date Rory.  And no I am not going to tell you what her situation is, you will have to read the book.

I think my one big issue with this book was that some parts were drawn out and that could make some readers lose interest but I also think that if you are invested in Rory and TJ’s story that you will be able to overlook that and just continue on.  Like I said in the beginning of this review, in my opinion Finding Judgement is so much better than the first book and has made me want to continue on to see what the rest of the series has in store for us readers.

Review: Finding Trust (Centre Games Series #1) By Natalie Gayle

Finding Trust – Book 1 Centre Games Series

Brayden and Rihanna

He’s hot, sexy, and leads a double life. Sometimes in the limelight, mostly in the shadows. Brayden James holds fast to a secret that’s more than his to share.

She’s a singularly focused veterinarian out for a rare night of fun with friends, at a New Year’s Eve rock concert. Going home with the lead guitarist was furthest thing from Rihanna Mason’s mind when the night began.

When Rihanna inadvertently becomes the target of a deadly terrorist plot using the Hendra virus as a biological weapon, Brayden is forced to reveal his other life. His job is to keep her safe and together they must stop the terrorists before it’s too late. But what happens when she becomes more to him than just the assignment?

Will the secret he cannot disclose ultimately prove too much for Rihanna’s fragile trust in relationships? Or will he finally break through the double brick walls around her heart, where every other man has failed?

I am always open to finding a new author, new book or even a new series to give a chance.  I also love a lot of different genres (which if you all read my reviews you will already know this) so when I was offered the opportunity to start the Centre Games series I jumped on board and said hell yes I will give it a chance.  Finding Trust is a mix of sci-fi, paranormal, suspense and romance.  Yes that seems like a weird combination but it works.

Now I will admit when I first started reading Finding Trust I wasn’t sure what to think and I didn’t know if I would like this book, let alone have to read an entire series or not.  But, I kept reading and while at times I still wasn’t sure I kept on and I am glad I did because overall I enjoyed this book.  I wasn’t sure about Brayden and Rihanna as a couple and it took me longer than usual to feel comfortable with them and actually like them together.

Overall, I enjoyed Finding Trust, I didn’t love it but I did like it.  I have a feeling this series will be on that has to grow on its readers and some will love it completely and some may not.  I just hope you all give it a chance, I am glad I did because I did end up liking it.
