Review: Nerd Girl By Jemma Bell

Amy Jenkins is your typical bookish Nerd Girl. She believes her heart will be safer crushing on fictional characters than the real thing. As her bad luck would have it she runs into her favorite book boyfriend in the most unlikely of places.

Derrick Walker is a cover model for a world famous author. He has a busy schedule and never expected to have the girl of his dreams literally fall at his feet.

The Nerd Girl and The Hunk in love. Can a relationship work between these two? Along for the ride are smart aleck best friends, an agent who makes the wicked witch look like a girl scout and a coonhound named Clyde. Nerd Girl is sure to be a wild ride.

I stumbled across Nerd Girl when it was available for preorder, so as most book whores do, I preordered it since the blurb sounded pretty good.  I mean come on a nerd and a book boyfriend cover model?  I so wish that would happen to me in real life, well if I didn’t have that husband and all.  If you are reading this my dear sweet husband, you know I love you.  I read it a couple of days after it released and I absolutely LOVED it!  I love when a nerd or geeky type character knocks the sexy hot male or female on their ass and they have to have the nerd or geek.  What can I say I am a little nerdy in real life so I cheer for the nerds in the world.

Amy may be nerdy, but this girl will surprise you.  She is feisty, sassy, funny and overall just real.  She knows she is a nerd, well a book nerd to be more specific.  So when Derrick literally runs right into her, at first she is awestruck. Well that is until he ends up with his foot in his mouth when he is a jackass.  I could almost picture their interaction in my head when I was reading.  Derrick can’t help but fall for the girl who looks like a naughty librarian, and when he finds a way to get in contact with her I was on the edge of my seat hoping that it all works out.  Too bad he has a psycho agent who happens to be an ex fuck buddy, who at every turn tries to sabotage the relationship that Amy and Derrick are forming.  God I wanted to slap the living hell out of that bitch on more than one occasion, I will admit I wanted to slap and possibly knee Derrick as well for a couple of things he did and didn’t do.

I believe this is the first book by Jemma Bell and I also this is the first book in a series.  I can’t wait to read more from this author.  If the rest of her books keep me laughing and giggling with a small side of angst and a heavy dose of the nerd getting the guy then I will read them all.  So if you are a fan of nerds getting the hot guy or girl, make sure you add this one to your TBR lists and find out why I cheered on the nerd girl getting the hot cover model guy.

Review: Elements of Chemistry: ATTRACTION (Hypothesis Series Book 1) by Penny Reid

One week.
Private beach.
Invisible girl.
Jerk-faced bully.
What’s the worst that could happen?

Kaitlyn Parker has no problem being the invisible girl, which is why she finds herself hiding in various cabinets and closets all over her college campus. Despite her best efforts, she can’t escape the notice of Martin Sandeke—bad boy, jerkface bully, and the universe’s hottest, wealthiest, and most unobtainable bachelor—who also happens to be Kaitlyn’s chemistry lab partner.

Kaitlyn might be the only girl who isn’t interested in exploiting his stunning rower’s build, chiseled features, and family's billionaire fortune. Kaitlyn wants Martin for his brain, specifically to tabulate findings of trace elements in surface water.

When Kaitlyn saves Martin from a nefarious plot, Martin uses the opportunity to push Kaitlyn out of her comfort zone: spring break, one week, house parties, bathing suits, and suntan lotion. Can she overcome her aversion to being noticed? Will he be able grow beyond his self-centered nature? Or, despite their obvious chemistry, will Martin be the one to drive Kaitlyn into the science cabinet of obscurity for good?
Awesome, splendid, amazing, wonderful, impressive…if you have no clue why I’m writing a bunch of synonyms for awesome, then you clearly haven’t read the book yet. And you need to. You NEED to read this book. No lie, I was handed this book in bar. A crowded bar. Surrounded by friends and laughter. What do I do? I open to the first page to quickly skim the contents and end up completely zoning everyone and everything around me out. In. A. Bar! I was immediately swept up in the story. I had to see it to the end, no matter my location.

Attraction is a sweet, sexy and quirky story about the jock who falls for the geek. How awesome is that?! Kaitlyn, the heroine, is super smart and equally nervous around guys. Hot guys. One hot guy in particular, Martin. She’s comfortable hiding behind her baggy clothes, sneakers, and surrounded by lab beakers. What does she need a man in her life for? Especially, Martin, who makes her pulse race and girly parts awaken. Pfft…she doesn’t need him. They are strictly lab partners, nothing more. She’s noticed the way he treats women anyway. That boy is nothing but a heartbreaker. Player. Nope, she definitely does not want anything to do with him outside of the lab. Unfortunately or maybe not, Martin HAS taken notice of her. And he very much likes what he sees.

Martin is the ultimate, all-American, good-looking, jock. He comes from a wealthy family, which makes him easy prey for many girls looking to be the one to tame him. Except one girl. Kaitlyn. She keeps her distance from him, much to his disappointment. But, when she steps out of her comfort zone to warn him of an impending danger, he jumps at the opportunity to not let her shirk back into her old self. Martin sees the beauty beneath. Even if she doesn’t…or doesn’t believe it.

I LOVED this story! LOVED IT! There wasn’t one dull moment. It was brilliant and well told. And of course left me screaming for more when I reached the end because this was only part 1 of a 3 part book. *drops to knees and throws head back to wail* noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I loved seeing Kaitlyn blossom around Martin, and Martin isn’t the complete jerk-face Kaitlyn thinks he is (she just doesn't fully realize that yet). Their chemistry is sensual and sizzling. They challenge each other and go so damn well together. I cannot wait for the next installment.

Seriously, I highly recommend this one. Add it to your bookshelves. Now. Attraction releases on April 9th, but don’t worry, you can pre-order.

*Arc handed to me in a bar, A BAR, by a friend who knows me well and shares my passion for reading.

Blog Tour: #Player By Cambria Hebert

Players gotta play.

Hate is like a poison. It contaminates everything.

So does doubt.

Even though I deny what I overheard, even though I insist it isn’t true, the seed of doubt has been planted. I can’t help but be tormented with the endless what-if’s that have taken over our lives.

Romeo and I were happy in love. The future stretched before us brighter than any star in the darkest sky. Now everything is broken. Literally broken. Romeo’s entire career is at stake, my entire future is threatened… and my past?

It’s coming back to haunt me.

To haunt us.

Romeo says we’re in this together and right now the only sure thing is us. But how far can a love so new be pushed? The lengths we will have to go to save each other puts everything at risk.

Romeo is a #player but how much of the game can one person play?

If you haven’t read #Nerd or #Hater yet please. PLEASE, stop and read them first before reading my review because while I don’t ever intend to give spoilers away from previous books, it happens.  Just know that you need to read #Nerd and #Hater first or you will be lost.

I am sure like the rest of this blog’s readers, we all buy books and say it is going to be one of the next ones I read and yet it keeps getting pushed further and further down your TBR pile.  Unfortunately for me this happens more than I like to admit especially since it tends to happen because I am reading a book for a tour or blitz and this is what happened with #Nerd, the first book in this series.  It had been sitting on my kindle just waiting for me to open it and read about Romeo and Rimmel.  So when #Player came across to sign up for a review I finally had my excuse to read this series about a nerd and a hot football player, and let me tell you, once I started I read them all back to back to back.  I won’t go into #Nerd and #Hater because this is a review for #Player, but just know that each book has left me with a smile on my face even when I wanted to throw my kindle with the cliff hangers.

Romeo and Rimmel’s relationship has gone through so much more than anyone should have to deal with.  Secrets and actions of others have tested the strength of their love and relationship.  The one thing that stayed true and strong was Romeo wanting to protect Rimmel and Rimmel wanting Romeo to be happy.  Even when others made nasty comments and placed some doubts in Rimmel’s head, all Romeo did was love her and the same went for Romeo.  Were there some eye rolling moments?  Yes, I did roll my eyes at certain things but they didn’t take away from me being totally hooked into finishing these books.  The secondary characters were another thing I loved because they helped make the story even better.

I am so glad that I finally read this series and there is more to come even though Romeo and Rimmel’s story is finished we get to see Braeden’s story in #Selfie, and I love his smart ass just as much as I loved Romeo and Rimmel.  Cambria Hebert has cemented myself as a fan with #Player and I hope that the rest of this series will leave a smile on my face like the first three have.
