Blog Tour & Giveaway: Hunger Embraced

An Interview with Adrian Kaiser from Hunger Embraced

Thank you so much for having me on My Secret Romance today! I’m going to be interviewing Adrian Kaiser, one of the villains from the book. Miranda, the heroine, is just as likely to punch the guy in the face as look at him, so she’s had to stay home today. My own feelings about Adrian are mixed…so hopefully this interview will give us all some insight into why he behaves the way he does.

Or maybe not. Since the first time Adrian appeared on stage in a scene, he’s been a mystery to me. Let’s see if we can find anything out.

***

Jennifer James: I shift around in my seat, nervous at the way the gaze from his dark brown eyes bore a hole right through me. At least, that’s what it feels like. Hi Adrian.

Adrian Kaiser: He inclines his head a fraction. Ms. James.

JJ: I take a sip of my coffee and look at the walls, then tuck a stray strand of hair behind one ear. So, um, where are you from?

AK: He adjusts the cuffs of his long sleeved shirt. It’s unbuttoned partway down his chest and the combination of the shirt with his jacket, the unrelieved black on black against his dark olive skin, and black hair is incredibly sexy. Europe. Lately I’ve been in residence in North East Ohio, as you know.

JJ: I clear my throat and drink more coffee. Europe. Isn’t pretty much everyone from Europe? I want to ask him questions about why he wants Miranda but I’m a chicken. Right, yes, I know. So, um, what do you like to do for fun?

AK: One dark eyebrow creeps toward his hairline and he blinks, once. For fun? I have a kingdom to run, a court I must care for.

JJ: Oh, yes, I suppose so. But surely you do something for stress relief.

AK: Smiles, the white sheen of his teeth glinting in the sunlight. I am one of the Incubi. What do you think I like to do for fun?

JJ: Ahhh….My heart flutters and I jump when he touches the back of my hand with one finger. The faint buzz of electricity arcs into my hand, up my arm, and across my chest. I snatch away from him and the heat of a blush flashes up neck and into my face.

AK: You know, Ms. James, I think that you would like my version of stress relief.

JJ: The blush gets worse and I glance at him for a second before chickening out and looking at the floor. I hate to be embarrassed. So, what’s the deal with you chasing after Miranda? I mean, she’s pretty set on Daniel.

AK: I could tell you, but then I would have to make you a member of my court.

JJ: Why?

AK: He snorts. Young human females. You need disciplining.

JJ: Excuse me?

AK: His voice drops an octave. A good spanking.

JJ: The timbre of it reaches somewhere deep inside me, curls around in my belly, and I squirm in my seat.  Spanking? I giggle. What, are you some kind of Dom?

AK: Yes.

JJ: Oh.

***

So, leave me a comment below and let me know what you’d ask a Dom who is also an incubus. (The Incubi in the Hunger Series are vampires who can feed on sex as well as blood. ) J Maybe Adrian will answer your questions. I think we can all tell I’m not all that great at interviewing him.

She’s fed up with being fed on.

All Miranda Thibodeaux really wants to do is survive corporate hell and be left alone. But as the daughter of the Incubi king, being left along isn’t on her schedule. And as an avatar to a goddess with multiple personality issues, taking things in stride isn’t either.

Daniel looks like an ordinary surfer boy--T. T. B.--Tall, Tanned, and Blonde. Hot he may be, but ordinary he’s not. Beneath the pretty packaging lies a ruthless warrior, a servant to the Vampire Council. His mission is to find Miranda and present her to the council, then get the hell out of Dodge before he loses his focus. The last thing he needs is the distraction of the testy female.

When circumstances force Miranda to turn to T.T.B. for help, they both end up with more than they bargained for. And that normal human life she wanted? Not really doable when everyone wants a piece of her...

 Excerpt from Deployment Gifts:

“Craig Mitchell, you have no idea what you’re in for today.”

Krista smoothed her hair one last time in the mirror and stepped into her heels. He was in for one hell of a surprise. Today’s interlude before he left again for military deployment would stray far from their normal routine. She swallowed hard against the lump forming in her throat and shook her head. No reason to cry about it. She couldn’t change the facts.

He had to leave. So she’d give him the best send-off possible.

The left shoe pinched her toes, and she wiggled them until they settled into the heels more comfortably. She and Craig had dated off and on for years. He didn’t want a complicated relationship. The hell his army buddies went through with spouses who couldn’t handle the long separations left him convinced marriage led to pain, suffering, and misery.

Krista patted the tiny crow’s feet forming at the corners of her eyes and then stretched the skin. Pushing thirty. And what did she have to show for it but her own condo and a hot guy who wanted to fuck her when he was home on leave, but not marry her.

It wasn’t his fault she’d fallen in love with him. No use getting mad about the fact that she’d spent her twenties pining for someone who didn’t want what she did.

“Ready?” Jade asked from the bathroom doorway. Her coffee and cream skin glowed under the soft light from the vanity. Huge doe-brown eyes, full lips and breasts, a tiny waist, and slender hips made Jade a package men and women lusted after. But the best thing about Jade was her wicked sense of humor. Oh, and the fact she approached sex with enthusiasm and a willingness to experiment. When she’d called to say she’d be in town for a few days and needed a place to stay, Krista knew she wanted more than a place to sleep.

“Oh, yeah. Jade, he won’t know what hit him.” She grinned and closed the space between their bodies. Jade wore a school girl’s uniform over white lacy lingerie and four-inch stilettos. The other woman made it look easy, but dancing on stage five nights a week gave her confidence and poise it would be hard to match. Their bodies touched from breast to groin, her nipples hardening when Jade brushed her thumbs over them.

Krista still held a special place in her heart for Jade. Best friends, sometimes lovers—Jade was someone Krista couldn’t live without. She’d told Craig the last time he’d been home how they’d hooked up when they were roomies, and his eyes nearly bugged out of his head.

Halloween Heat V Book Tour!!

Easter Eggs on Halloween?
Hi! Thanks so much for having Eden Summers and I (Jennifer James) on My Secret Romance! I live in the U.S., but Eden is from Australia. When Eden and I get talking, our conversations can get pretty funny. It’s not just that we’re both super cool and funny *wink-wink*. It’s also because of the cultural differences inherent in our relationship. So, I decided to “interview” Eden for this post and we got into a funny situation regarding Halloween and Easter eggs.
Jennifer James: So, Eden do you even celebrate Halloween in Australia? Cause it's summer for you. Which is actually nice. Here in Ohio, we're freezing cold. The kids have to wear winter coats under their costumes. You're as likely to find a candy bar in their stash as you are a big ole glob of snot from runny noses.

Eden Summers: To be honest we don't really celebrate Halloween all that much in Wagga Wagga. I'm 30 and have only ever had one group of kids come to my house. I don't think they were impressed when I didn't have any lollies and had to give them left over Easter eggs...Yep, from April. True Story.

I want to know how the hell you guys deal with a national of kids on a sugar high.

JJ: Ummm...why did you have 6 month old eggs? Weren't they rotten?  Wait, wait, were they platypus eggs? Cause that would be awesome.

And you're worried about kids on a sugar high? Crap, what about the adults? I totally go through the kid's candy to snarf out all the stuff I like and want.  I feel sad for you now that you don't go Trick or Treating. I feel like you're missing out on fun times. You're deprived. :( Boo.

You've never carved a jack o' latern? Never dug around in a pillowcase in the middle of June for left over candy that you hid in the closet so your mom wouldn't throw it out? Never painted your face purple and wore plastic fangs and rolled around in dirt so you'd be a more authentic newly risen vampire? My heart, it breaks.

ES: Well where I come from chocolate takes a lot longer to go rotten. So yeah I still have chocolate eggs in the cupboard from Easter. It happens every year. They sit there for an eternity. My husband doesn't eat them because he's high maintenance and prefers chocolate bars and I tend not to eat a lot of sweets.

But I did a lot of dressing up as a teenager. We had a heap of costume parties. I dressed up as a mummy once which was the most unflattering costume EVER. I looked like a boy because all my features were covered and I was so damn flat chested. Unfortunately I think those photos are still floating around Facebook somewhere.

How much do you guys spend on Halloween? Is it as big as Easter?

JJ: *Looks up from trying to stalk Eden on FB and find those photos.*  Oh! You meant candy eggs. Like Cadburys. Heehee. I thought you meant hard boiled and colored eggs. *face palm*
Hmm, you know, I haven’t spent much on Halloween in recent years because I take the girls out for Trick or Treat and haven’t been passing out candy. I guess your gauge on how “big” it is depends on your religious views. Some people refuse to celebrate it because they think it’s devil worship. Some people don’t celebrate Easter. But if you’ve got kids and don’t think letting them dress up is going to call demons down on you, then it’s pretty big. J

I can’t remember ever dressing up in anything particularly heinous. I’ve done the vampire thing, zombie, ghoul, Pippi Longstocking, Raggedy Ann, Flower Child….I’m sure there are burnable photos somewhere around here.

We’re giving away a $25 Giftcard and to enter, use the Rafflecopter below and answer the following question: What’s your most memorable costume?  (And, did anyone else think Eden meant hard boiled eggs when she said Easter eggs? Was it just me?)
