This is me NOT bashing the author or
story. This is me giving MY honest opinion. It's a to each his own
world and this book as you will see didn't work for me. If it worked for you,
kuddos to you. Now some might say, Amanda, if you didn't like it why did
you continue reading it? Here's me telling you why. I see there are 4 and 5
star reviews and I think to myself, really? Did they not read what I just read?
But then I tell myself it's to each his own. Whatever floats your boat that
kind of thing. Also, I wanted to know where the author was going with
the story and how it would end. I give applause that there was no
cliffhanger cause oh how I've been loathing them but the ending was very
abrupt. Too abrupt. The story kept my attention that's for sure even
at times I wanted to give up cause of the ridiculousness of it. Now some might
say, Amanda, did you not read the warning? Of course I did. That's what
got my attention, along with the cover which I think is very pretty and the
synopsis which I thought was promising. I had no problems with the
contents to the warnings though sometimes they were harsh. My problem is that
it was way too much and it was like the author just jumbled all the angst and
shock factor you could find and throw it all in one book.
I won't be delving into the story or characters cause I couldn't care less about any of it. I didn't get the main characters or the story line. I just didn't get it. Once again it was too much. When I read a book I like to somewhat connect to someone in a story and I didn't connect to anyone. That's one of the reasons I didn't care for the story. The other reasons I will not name cause I'm being nice. The only thing I liked about the book was a character named Shadow even though we don't know much about him. Yet. Other than that I got nothing else to say. *shrugs shoulders*
I'm never one to say do not read a book. That's not how I work. Go ahead and read it and if it works for you, Yay! Will I read the second book? Yes. Why you ask? I'm a glutton for punishment. Ha! No seriously, I'm willing to give the author another try plus like I said I'm interested in Shadow and I want to know more about him.

Hmmmmm...... when you start with "This is me NOT bashing the author or story." I'm sorry but you are. I'm just curious on to why you are posting this when the book has been out of over 6 weeks?? Looks like author bashing to me... But that's just my opinion.
I just want to say as a blogger myself you made the right choice by giving your honest opinion. I read a book recently (not this one) and It was not I thought was 5 stars. In fact i gave it 3 stars on goodreads and i was the only one. I thought WTF is wrong with me? Did I miss something? I get you I will still read the next book in the series of the one that I read, because I too am glutton for punishment.
I have this one on my TBR because the blurb caught my attention. I will still be reading it, but not sure when.
Sorry that you didn't enjoy it. :(
Thank you for sharing your honest opinion. :)
