Tasha Skinner finally shed the baggage of a failed marriage. Now, she’s looking forward to a night of margaritas and man-bashing. Tasha’s friends have other plans, including Leather, Lace and liberation. Dylan Caprese didn’t want to go to Marquee, but he and his friends were on a mission. They took it upon themselves to make sure things didn’t get out of hand when wannabe Doms mixed alcohol with playtime at the monthly Leather and Lace night. From the moment he set eyes on Tasha, he knew there was something different about her. She wasn’t some bondage babe who thought she knew what it meant to be into BDSM. She was much, much worse; she was innocent and trusting. He can tell she is something precious. When Tasha’s past threatens to destroy her, Dylan begins to realize that while their paths have never crossed, their lives most definitely have. Will he be able to save her before it’s too late?
Review
Tasha has gotten out of a bad marriage where she suffered emotional abuse by her controlling ex. To celebrate her freedom, unbeknownst to her, her friends take her to leather and lace night at a local club. Dylan, a knight in shining armor, along with his friends take it upon themselves to police this monthly theme night. Tasha is so out of her realm and Dylan picks up on that right off the bat. Instantly, there is something about her that draws him in and makes him want to protect. Likewise, there is something about Dylan that puts Tasha at ease and makes her trust him. Basically from the first night they meet they become inseparable. Unlike the druken idiots at leather and lace night, Dylan is truly into the BDSM world and slowly introduces Tasha to it. She learns that letting him dominate her doesn't mean she needs to give up control of her life.
While I found some flaws in the storyline, the overall story and characters were pretty likeable. I really loved Dylan. He was patient, kind, protective and tried to understand Tasha. He was actually so attentive and attuned to her body language that he could decipher what her thoughts or moods were. Hell, I wish my hubs could pick up on those clues. Tasha was so afraid of letting go of control. She vowed she would never put herself in that spot again. But she needed to understand and trust that Dylan was way different than her ex. Unfortunately, she learns that lesson almost too late when people from her past and present are more than they seem and are out to hurt her.
This wasn't bad for a start of a new series. The next book follows a couple of the secondary characters that were in this book. I'm looking forward to reading it to see if a certain character can redeem herself.
