Blog Tour & Giveaway: Working It by Kendall Ryan

Sick.  That’s what this story did to me.  It made me sick.  Not in the I-want-to-hurl-it-was-bad kind of way.  Oh no, not that.  Nope.  This story made me sick in that gnawing, gut clenching, I know my heart is going to get broken kind of way.  From the beginning, the very first line, I knew Kendall Ryan was setting me up to hurt.  But, I went ahead and dived into the story and got completely caught up in it anyway.

It had been a month since I’d seen him, but my body still knew when he was near.

Emerson, Emmy, Clarke is a twenty-two year old southern sweetie.  She leaves the comforts and familiarity of Tennessee behind and makes the bold move to New York to take on the position of assistant to the head of a high profile modeling management company.  Fiona Stone is a hard-ass, condescending, cold-hearted, manipulative bitch.  Seriously!  She’s made my list of characters that disgust me.  She treats Emmy like crap, but Emmy refuses to tuck tail and run.  A perk of her job, as Status Model Management only represents men, is she’s constantly surrounded by deliciously, hot males.  Ben Shaw is Fiona’s golden boy.  He’s hard working, dedicated, mouth watering hot and he’s into Emmy.  He has to tread lightly though because Fiona has this twisted fixation with him.

Emmy is surrounded by tall, skinny, beautiful people.  She herself is short and curvy.  Being in the industry she’s in makes her doubt herself at times.  When Ben looks at her though, all he sees is a beautiful, smart, sweet woman.  He makes her feel cherished and desired.  It was fun watching these two hook up.  What started out as flirty, quickly turned to heated undeniable passion.  Ben tried to keep their relationship light as he doesn’t do commitments, but Emmy is unlike any woman he’s ever known.  She’s caring, nurturing and doesn’t care about his fame or money.  Before long, they both fall hard for each other.  But, there’s Fiona.  Conniving, deceitful Fiona is always lurking in the background.  Her connection with Ben doesn’t sit well with Emmy; it’s a little too possessive for a client/manager relationship.  She knows there’s something Ben is keeping from her, but deep down is afraid to know exactly what it is.

Ugh!   I wanted to scream at times and tell Ben to man the fuck up!  Yeah, I get he has history with Fiona, but that’s what it is.  HISTORY!  Tell her to take her overbearing, neurotic ass somewhere else cause you ain’t having it!  By placating her, he risks losing it all with Emmy.

Working It kept me well enthralled from start to finish.  Keep in mind the story is far from over when you get to the end.  While it doesn’t leave off on a huge cliffhanger, it did leave off frustratingly open for more.  I have a feeling things are going to get really good in the next one and I’m sure it will have me cursing up a storm.

Working it is book 1 in the Love by Design series.

Cover Reveal: Working It by Kendall Ryan

A New Adult Romance from New York Times & USA Today Bestselling Author Kendall Ryan.
Straight-laced Emmy Clarke’s assistant job at the modeling agency provides her with one distinct perk – getting to watch pretty mancandy parade around all day. But having to work under the ultra-bitchy, ultra-British Fiona Stone barely makes it worth it. Emmy enjoys looking, but she’s not stupid enough to fall for one of the tempting specimens. Especially not rising star Ben Shaw.

Ben is everything Emmy’s not: well-traveled, highly paid and exquisitely gorgeous. He’s also got more issues than Vogue. Against her better judgment to get involved, Emmy’s southern roots kick in, and whenever he’s on set, she makes sure he’s treated well and looked after. But she refuses to become one of the pathetic groupies lusting after him, and soon Ben’s drawn toward her refreshingly real attitude.

Against the backdrop of fashion shows in NYC, Paris and Milan, their casual flirting turns into more, and they embark on a journey of sexual discovery. But when Ben’s twisted past is uncovered, it threatens both their relationship and careers as the bitter Fiona digs her claws in, unwilling to let her golden boy go without a catfight.

Filled with passion, jealousy and heart-thumping sex, Working It is the tale of falling for a supermodel.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: The Cirque by Ryann Kerekes

Ariel’s time as a ballerina with the dance company she has been with has come to an end.  At only eighteen, she knows that ballet, while her mother’s dream, isn’t her entire world.  When she comes across a flyer advertising auditions for a Cirque, she decides to take the chance and live for once, instead of doing what her parents want her to do.  When she is paired with the dangerous and alluring Gabriel, she doesn’t know what to think at first.  She is weary of him, but there is something about him that draws him to her.
Gabriel has secrets but no one is really sure of his past.  There are various rumors within the troupe that makes up the Cirque, but no one knows his true past.  When he is paired with Ariel for his act, throwing knives, he tries to keep his distance from her.  When he rescues her from a fellow troupe member, will he finally open up to her?  Or, will he continue to push her away, even when that isn’t what he wants?
I loved the connection that Ariel and Gabriel had once they began to really work together.  I think at some point all of us have had a little of Ariel in us, what I mean by that is, wanting to please our parents even if it’s something that we no longer feel passion for.  She lost her passion for ballet, but hadn’t lost her passion for other dance.  She took a chance by being the target for Gabriel’s knives during their act, but she trusted him not to hurt her, and he didn’t, well not physically at least.
Gabriel is the typical bad boy.  Tattooed and gorgeous; and is irresistible to Ariel.  Too bad he acts like he wants nothing to do with her...or does he?  I knew he had a painful past, something he was running from but when I fond out what it was, I was saying hell yes I would have done the same thing!  Gabriel broke my heart though; he really was the good guy with the bad rep.  He believed he would never fit in Ariel’s life.
I read this straight through, it drew me in and I couldn’t wait to read more.  I felt a connection with the entire story, the author made me feel the emotions that they were feeling.  As I mentioned before, I think everyone has felt that need to please our parents, and this is a good example that sometimes we need to do what is right for us, no one else.  This is a New Adult novel but it doesn’t feel too young like some books due, I recommend this one for sure!
