Review: Easy Charm (The Boudreaux Series #2) by Kristen Proby

I swear reading a Kristen Proby book is like coming home and curling up in your favorite chair by a crackling fire. It just feels good. Her stories are full of love, heat, laughs, and family.

At twenty-seven years old, Gabrielle Boudreaux is the baby of the family. She’s a single mom to a charismatic seven year old boy and single-handedly runs a successful inn. Her son, family, and work are all she needs to be content in life. What more could Gabby want?

Rhys O’Shaughnessy has made a career out of his number one love–baseball. He’s been the Chicago Cubs’ pitcher for more than a decade. However, a torn rotator cuff benches him for a season, giving him the needed time to heal his body. At his cousin’s suggestion, he turns to Gabby’s inn in New Orleans to recuperate. But what he finds there is so much more than a place to stay and get well.

Gabby truly amazed me. She had to grow up quickly in life. She was pregnant at nineteen and going at it without the father. Yes, she had the love of her family and their support in her decisions to give her a boost, but she has so much strength within herself. Hard work does not scare her off, she thrives on it. She is fierce when she needs to be, but still has this innocence and fun-loving way about her. Seriously, people, I think I have a girl crush.

Rhys is absolutely charming! For being a major league pitcher, he is this down to earth, easy-going, honest, passionate man. I swooned hard for this guy. He just fits. It’s like he’s been there all along. The way he cares not only for Gabby but her son too speaks volumes about him. He’s the real deal.
Rhys and Gabby together is just a straight up perfect union. They are made for each other. She’s not intimidated by his social status OR his prowess in the bedroom. And holy mother of all does it get hot in the bedroom! She gives as good as she gets. Rhys in return is her balance. Her other half. Though she may have been good all these years without a man in her life, she comes to realize having Rhys by her side is a very good thing. Now, if only those two would communicate their feelings and desires to each other all would be well. But come on, how often do we really voice what we feel without some pushing and prodding? They both fear the answer the other will give and thus keep their mouths shut, driving themselves and each other crazy.
Easy Charm is so easy to fall in love with. Kick up your feet, sink into your chair, sit back and find love in the bayou. Enjoy!

Eli Boudreaux’s family has built ships and boats in Louisiana for generations. He comes from a hard working, wealthy family and his empire is growing by leaps and bounds. At thirty, he is the youngest CEO to ever head Bayou Enterprises, co-chairing with his eldest brother. His head for business and his no-nonsense work ethic is also quickly making him the best the company has seen in generations. His staff admires him, women adore him and Eli’s family is solid. But he’s recently discovered that someone on the inside of his business is stealing from him and he’s determined to find out who.

Kate O’Shaughnessy is hired by companies all over the world to slip inside and investigate every member of the organization from the CEO down to the custodial staff to find the person or persons responsible for embezzling. She’s excellent at blending, becoming part of the team, and finding the weakest link. She’s smart, quick-witted, and she’s now been hired by Bayou Enterprises, specifically Eli Boudreaux. The attraction is immediate and the chemistry is off the charts, but Kate has heard all about Eli’s playboy past and she has a job to do. Sleeping with the boss isn’t a part of that job, even if just the sound of her name rolling off that Cajun tongue and the way he fills out a designer suit does make her sweat.

Eli’s southern charms surprise Kate. The man whose reputation labels him as a ruthless, callous womanizer is not the man she’s coming to know intimately. He’s generous, protective and makes her smile. Cracking through Kate’s cool, reserved demeanor and discovering her love of sexy, expensive lingerie is a challenge Eli can’t resist, but her sweet nature, love of family and sense of humor pull at him in ways no one else ever has.

But when the person responsible for trying to single-handedly dismantle Eli’s empire comes to light, and it’s time for Kate to move on, to what lengths will Eli go to keep the woman he’s fallen in love with by his side?

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Blind Obsession by Ella Frank

Haunting
Erotic
Passionate
Heart Wrenching

This has to be one of the most haunting books I’ve ever read. From the very first you know it’s going to end badly. You know this. You fell it in your bones, yet you have to read it. You can’t stop. It’s like watching a train wreck. It’s going to hurt to watch it, but you can’t look away. You have to know. YOU. HAVE. TO. KNOW.

As I was reading this story, I was sucked into a world that I’ve only glimpsed before. A world where artists live. One is a musician and one is a painter. They live life full of passion and embrace it as only those who live passionately can. They love. The feel. They obsess. No one can understand them unless they live it. Watching it, talking about, hearing about it is not enough. You have to live it to understand it.

This is what Gemma does. She embraces Chantel’s life and lives the last few months of her life with Phillippe. She does this to learn his story. The world knows Chantel’s story, or at least they think they do. Now Gemma is here to learn the truth. To tell the world the truth. But what is the truth? Who knows the truth?

Gemma comes to France to live for a few months with Phillippe. She comes at his request. He wants to tell his story of Chantel and what happened to her. In order to do this, Gemma lives with Phillippe. She reads Chantel’s diary. She talks with Phillippe.

What Gemma doesn’t expect is to fall in love. What she doesn’t expect is who she falls in love with.

I loved this story. It will stick with me long after I’m done reading it. It’s haunting. It’s tragic. It’s heart wrenching like no other story I’ve read.

As I read this story my heart went out to Phillippe, Gemma and Chantel. But even though I found it heart wrenching, I couldn’t cry for them. And I’m a crier. I’ll boo hoo with the best of them. So, why didn’t I cry as I read this one? I couldn’t. As heart wrenching as this story is, I couldn’t. I knew what was coming. I saw it. I didn’t know exactly how it was going to happen, but I knew it was going to. It haunted me. It made my heart hurt for them. But there were no tears. There can be no tears. It’s hard to explain.

Ella Frank did an amazing job of writing a story that is haunting, eerie, beautiful and passionate all at once. It can have no happy ending. There is no way for this end with a happily ever after. It can’t. For it to end any other way would be a betrayal.

It’s erotic. It’s beautiful. It’s haunting.
