Blog Tour: Beat By: Vi Keeland

Dimpled smile of a boy

Hard body of a man

Sings like an angel

Fucks like the devil

I was stuck between a rock(star) and a hard place.

At fifteen, his poster hung on my bedroom wall. At twenty-five his body hovered over mine. Every girl’s fantasy became my reality. I was dating a rockstar. Yet I was slowly falling for another man. The problem was—the two men—they shared a tour bus.

Flynn Beckham was the opening act.

Dylan Ryder was the headliner.

What happens when the opening act begins to shine so bright, it seems to dim everything else in its wake?

I’ll tell you what happens. Things get ugly.
First of all let me flat out state that cheating or love triangles in books does not bother me.  I am probably going to piss a couple people off with my next statement but while I never want to do that I need to say that I’m not sorry for how I feel and that I hope you will be understanding and respectful like I always try to be to you all.  Okay here it is.  I don’t mind the cheating or love triangles because I can separate reality from fiction.  Am I saying that I never get mad about it?  No because there are a couple of series that I now no longer rush to read because something happened that pissed me off, but I always try to keep an open mind more often than not.  Now I am sure you are asking yourself why am I even saying all of this, well it is because in Beat there is cheating and a love triangle and I know that some readers refuse to read anything with cheating in a book. Hell for some of my friends and fellow reviewers, that is something they hate so I am just giving the heads up right now.

Now that is all out of the way.  Beat will get you worked up, both sexually and emotionally, or more specifically it will make you angry at times.  I’m not going to lie, even with me being okay with cheating or love triangles in a book, at times I was extremely pissed off at everyone in this book.  I think you can imagine some of my creative cussing that even had my husband blushing at times, it was not pretty.  But now even after all of that couldn't I put Beat down.  I was drawn in to not just the smoking hot sex scenes, but also the question as to what would you do if you were any one of the players in this situation?  While we think we may know, nothing is ever certain in life.

I always enjoy Vi Keeland’s books because I know what I am about to read will get me worked up in one way or another and Beat was no exception.  Please, if you are on the fence about reading it, please give it a shot but only if you think you can keep reality separate from fiction, because if you can do that then I think you will really enjoy Beat as much as I did.

Getting through Flynn singing is incredibly hard.  The way his throat moves, the way his mouth caresses each syllable of the low, raspy sound that falls from his lips.  I should be watching his posture, his breathing, the way his larynx forces out the words—but instead I’m focused on the beauty of his mouth and how the sound of his voice glides over my body, making it feel both warm and tingly at the same time.  I’m lost when the song finishes, yet I haven’t really observed him yet.
“So.  Give it to me straight.  What am I doing wrong?”
Ummm…absolutely nothing from what I can see.  Everything was perfect.  Don’t change a thing.  Shit.  “Could you do it again?  Maybe a different song, one you haven’t sung in a while.  So the sounds are less familiar to your body.  Sometimes that can give me a different view.”  At least I make it sound like a real thing when the words come out.
He sings again, and this time I force myself to observe.  “Hmm…your posture is great.  Most people have a tendency to favor one side of their neck, which makes them tilt a bit when they speak, and it becomes magnified when they sing, which puts strain on the muscles around the vocal cords.  Your alignment is perfect.”
“Thank you, it goes with the rest of my perfectness,” he says with a teasing arrogance that, from the little I know about him, I know isn’t real.
“You didn’t let me finish.”
“You can’t now tell me I’m not perfect.  I was already basking in the glow.”
“Actually, it was perfect…but almost a little too perfect.  Which makes me think you don’t usually stand this way when you sing.”
“It isn’t the way I normally sing.  On stage, I usually have a guitar over my shoulder.  Even if I’m not playing it, it’s there.”
“Well, I need to see you holding your instrument to assess you fully, then.”
Flynn’s eyebrows quirk up and the dirty grin on his face is unmistakable.
“The guitar.  I’d need to see you holding the guitar.
“That’s a shame.”  He shrugs, the playful smile still on his face.  “But okay.  It’s your call.  Whatever instrument you want to see me hold is fine with me.”
“How big of you.”
“So now we’re talking about the other instrument again?”
I roll my eyes, although this conversation is having more of an effect on me than I let on.

Book Blast: Remind Me By Ann Marie Walker & Amy K. Rogers

First in a tantalizing new trilogy about reigniting a forbidden desire from long ago...

As heiress to a media empire Alessandra Sinclair was raised to put family obligations first. But everything changes the night her first love walks back into her life and turns her whole world upside down. Haunted by the memories of a secret romance with a boy from the wrong side of the tracks, she can't seem to get Hudson Chase out of her mind. Once again torn between two worlds, Allie must decide how much she's willing to risk to have the love she's always longed for.

Ten years is a long time to wait, but billionaire Hudson Chase didn't become CEO of one of the country's fastest growing companies by giving up on what he wants. Now that he's got Allie in his sights again, he's determined to make her regret breaking his heart. And this time, he's going to make damn sure he's not so easy to forget.

Nowadays it has become a lot harder for me to know when I start a book or a series if I think I will like it or not.  Maybe I am becoming pickier with what I read, but honestly it is rare for me to not finish a book or even just plain hate one, but it happens.  I had been in a bad streak with both those prior things I mentioned so once again I was wondering is it me, could it be the mood I am in or could it just be I didn’t click with the book at all.  Honestly I am not sure what the correct answer could be.  So when I started Remind Me I was really hoping that whatever funk I was in would go away, if not permanently then at least temporarily.   While it is too soon to say my bad streak is over for good, Remind Me did take me out of the funk I had been in.

Remind Me surprised me in many ways to be honest.  I had an idea it would be a little bit steamy and have some angst to it, it is a second chance love book after all, but I wasn’t prepared for it to be as hot and as sexy as it was, and this is just the first book in the series people, I can only imagine how books two and three are going to be.  Just the bad boy factor made me want to read it, I am a sucker for the bad boys, what can I say.  *Sigh* Hudson is my newest book boyfriend, he really is that damn hot.  There is also some drama going on.  I guess I should put a little bit of a heads up warning here, there is a love triangle and cheating obviously but here is the thing how can I feel bad about it when the one guy totally deserves to get kicked over and over again in the balls?  And no this is not my violent tendencies coming out to play, this guy seriously deserves this to happen to him.

I will be starting the second book here soon and if it is even a 1/3 of as hot Remind Me was then I will be in my book whore glory.  Give these two debut authors a shot, you may find the book that will pull you out of a bad book funk like I did when you read Remind Me.

Blog Tour: Amber To Ashes By Gail McHugh

They were a storm I never saw coming, an unforeseen heartbreak on the edge of a dangerous cliff.

In AMBER TO ASHES (Atria Paperback; June 9th, 2015), Amber Moretti’s life changes in the span of minutes. An orphaned outsider, she is desperate to start fresh the moment she walks onto campus. In the time it takes to cross the university’s dining hall, she meets two men who bring color, air, and light to her darkened world.

They became my addiction, each a needle to my next hit, my high.

Brock Cunningham’s appeal is dizzying, a potent force Amber can’t deny. A green-eyed smooth talker, he instantly attracts Amber. It doesn’t take long for him to consume her every thought, her every breath.

Ryder Ashcroft, a blue-eyed, tattooed, and pierced bad boy, turns Amber off immediately—that is, until he kisses her, stealing a piece of her heart, her soul.

They were as opposite as fire and ice, yet I ached for them equally.

Never knowing she could be broken down in so many unexpectedly beautiful yet petrifying ways, Amber finds herself falling for both men.

Immoral? Maybe. I say undeniable. Uncontained.

But one devastating event changes
everything, shattering each of their lives...and Amber isn’t sure she can recover from it.

I have been try to find the best way to word this review, and even now that I am at my laptop typing away I am still searching for the best way to word my thoughts and feelings about Amber To Ashes.  I am going to admit it took me a couple tries of picking up my kindle, reading pissed or upset before setting it back down again swearing I wasn’t going to finish it.  Then a couple days later I would repeat that same process and so on.  I don’t know if it was my mood at the time or what but I had a hard time getting into it, but then I finally forced myself to sit down and give Amber To Ashes an honest final attempt and I am glad I did.  I love a storyline that is filled with angst, love triangles, emotional roller coaster rides and smoking hot sex scenes.  So for me to take so long to get into a book that had all of these was strange.

In respect for the author I don’t want to give any type of spoilers away, I know some readers like spoilers and some don’t but I respect author’s and really try not to spoil anything in their books if I can help it.  I will say this, be prepared.  Be prepared to yell, scream, curse, cry, feel like your stomach is in a never ending knot because Amber To Ashes will do all of those things to you, multiple times.  Hell my own anxiety sky rocketed while I was reading and I am just reading the book, not one of the characters.  I can’t wait for book two to be released because I just have to know what will happen next.

I had tried to read this author’s previous series and got about halfway through Collide before I set it down, I still plan to go back because I know if I can work past my crazy emotions in Amber To Ashes then I will be able to continue on with that one.  If you are like me and may have had a hard time reading Amber To Ashes in the beginning, please pick it up one more time and give it that final last try because I know now had I not done that I would be regretting my decision down the road.

Release Blitz: Revelry By Carmen Jenner

Cooper Ryan is living the dream. Between the parties with rock royalty, booze, groupies and performing to crowds of thousands with his band Taint, life seems pretty sweet. There’s just one thing missing: the feisty little red-head that took his baby and ran off with his heart. Throwing himself into music is the only thing keeping him sane.

Until a run-in with a nonplussed, package-wielding PA throws everything off balance.

Ali Jones is having a craptastic life. Her grandmother died, leaving her homeless, penniless, and alone, and her boyfriend left her for a tramp who takes her clothes off for money. That’s why when she lands her dream job at a record company it seems like it’s too good to be true.

Because it is.

Slapped with an ultimatum, Ali must decide if facing the horror of the unemployment line is a fate worse than going on the road with four rowdy rockers hell-bent on making her life misery.

He’s adored by millions.

She’s not even loved by her cat. Can they ignore their hatred long enough to survive the tour from hell? Or will their chemistry force everything to come crashing down around them?

Carmen Jenner is quickly becoming a must read author for me.  I haven’t read all of her books yet, but the ones I have I have loved and Revelry is my newest favorite book by Ms. Jenner.  It has rock stars, alpha males, a love triangle, is hilarious and has some of the hottest sex scenes I have read in a while, like have you squirming in your heats reach for your significant other hot.  Did I mention the dirty talk?  No? OMG the dirty talk was oh so dirty and yeah I will just keep it at that.  I am not going to give anything away because I am afraid I will spoil something but just know this it is killing me to not write a long review detailing each and every thing I loved about this book.  Hence, this is going to be short and sweet.

If you love a rock star book, then read Revelry.  If you love an alpha-hole Hero, then read Revelry.  If you love the drama and angst that surrounds a love triangle, then read Revelry.  If you love a book that will have you laughing your ass off one minute and then reaching for some sexual healing the next, then read Revelry.  Did I make my point yet?  If you haven’t gotten the blatant hints yet I want you to read Revelry today!

Excerpt

My vision is partly obstructed by Ali, but the sight of her head bobbing as she takes him in her mouth is all I need to know what’s going on. Levi meets my gaze across the limo. There’s gloating there—that much is obvious—but there’s also understanding. When you spend as much time together as we do, you come to know your bandmates pretty well. For all his talk, he’s not as big of a douche as he claims to be. He may not ever sleep with the same woman more than once—with the exception of Ali, I guess—but I know he’s not immune to the loneliness our lifestyle creates. It’s strange how you can be adored by millions and yet completely alone all at the same time.

He slides his hand into her hair and closes his eyes, throwing his head back against the seat.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck,” he whispers, and then he gathers her hair to the side and shifts her body so that my view is completely unobstructed. I watch as she works her hands up his shaft in time with her mouth. He doesn’t attempt to fuck the back of her throat and make her choke on it, the way we both had that first night we fucked her. Instead, his touch is gentle. Reverent.

It makes me crazy, and hot as fucking hell. I shift uncomfortably, adjusting my cock within my jeans. I don’t make a move towards them, though I want to. I want to bury myself inside her and mark her as mine, but at this point the lines are so fucking blurred it doesn’t matter whom she belongs to. Him. Me. The both of us, or neither one.

I lean forward, taking a glass from the shelf and a crystal decanter filled with amber liquor, and I pour myself a drink, and then I slide back into the leather to watch.

“Play with yourself, Red,” he whispers.

“No.”

“Do it,” I say, and she turns around to glare at me. I can’t tell if she’s disappointed I’m not joining in, or if she forgot I was even here.

“I don’t want—”

“Why are you suddenly so embarrassed?” I say sharply, swigging back more of the scotch than I should.

“I’m not embarrassed. I’d actually rather that you joined in.”
“I’m watching,” I say, eyeing her coolly over my glass. She scowls at me a moment and then she kneels up, steadying herself with one hand on Levi’s thigh. She wriggles her skirt up over her hips and bends over. Everything is on display as she takes him in her mouth again. I close my eyes, not wanting to watch her on her knees in front of him, her head bent low, her full fuck-me lips wrapped around Levi’s cock. I feel as if I’m on a ride that’s spinning out of control and I can’t find a way off. I can’t make it stop. And I so badly want it to stop.

Review: Stealing Harper By Molly McAdams

This is Chase's POV from Taking Chances.

Chase Grayson has never been interested in having a relationship that lasts longer than it takes for him and his date to get dressed again. But then he stumbles into a gray-eyed girl whose innocence pours off her, and everything changes. From the minute Harper opens her mouth to let him know just how much he disgusts her, he's hooked.

But a princess deserves a Prince Charming who can make her dreams come true. Not a guy who can turn her life into a nightmare.

All good intentions go out the window when Harper starts to fall for the guy Chase has come to view as a brother. He wanted to protect her by keeping her away, but he can't stand to see her with anyone else, and he'll do anything to make her his. But when it comes down to Harper choosing between the two, will Chase have the strength to step back from the girl who has become his whole world if it means she's happy?

Lines will be crossed. Friendships will be put to the test. And hearts will be shattered.

CAUTION: DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT READ TAKING CHANCES
If you read my review of Taking Chances or hell even if you had any contact with me for about a week after reading it you know, you know how much that book DESTROYED me.  I cried for days, I cried while writing my review, I cried so much my eyes stayed red.  I cursed my book bestie Gabrielle for having me read the book while at the same time loving her for bullying me into reading it.   I wanted to send Molly McAdams a bill for therapy and tissues.  I wanted to have Chase for myself.

So I am sure you are all asking yourselves why in the hell did you read Stealing Harper Janna when you knew what would happen and how upset you were before.  I will tell you why.  I needed Chase’s POV, I needed to see inside his mind and heart to see if all the love I had for him in Taking Chances would be the same in Stealing Harper. I can safely say that no my love for Chase isn’t the same, it is more intense.  I love him even more after reading his POV.

Chase knew he had screwed up when he pushed Harper into Brandon’s life, but he never expected for it to destroy him as much as it did just seeing her with his best friend.  He fought the attraction, he tried to just be friends, but when you are so deeply in love with someone staying away isn’t always easy.  He broke my heart more than once because he just wanted Harper to take a chance on him so he could prove that she was his one and only once and for all.  When we read the events leading up to the end of the book, you feel the anxiety forming because you know what is about to happen and you can’t stop it no matter how hard you wish the words you are about to read weren’t true.  Awe hell I have tears in my eyes again just thinking about it.

Now I am taking a text that I had with my book bestie and this should kind of hint at what I feel for Harper, I wasn’t a huge fan of her in Taking Chances but in Stealing Harper she made me hate her for how much pain she put Chase through.  Okay so here is what I said “I want to do a combo vag kick throat punch bitch slap to Harper”.  Yep that basically sums up how I feel.

I have cried before with books, I am an emotional person so I feel harder than some people might.  Taking Chances and Stealing Harper are books I will never forget.  They will hold a special place in my heart because they made me feel so many emotions so deeply that they imprinted into my heart and soul.  I am looking forward to reading Trusting Liam because I just know that it will be just as amazing as the first two books.  Molly McAdams you have shredded my heart, caused me to go through boxes, yes boxes of tissues, and you have a way to make something that is so painful still be beautiful and moving to your readers.

Release Day Blitz: Retribution By Mandy Lou Dowson

Three people irrevocably linked.
A remorseless killer.
A shady businessman.
A woman caught in the cross-fire.

Braxton Alexander is a beast without remorse; a vessel filled with hate. Imprisoned for the murder of the one girl who loved him, now he is free, and hell bent on taking all of his pent up rage out on one person in particular.

Brycen Cole knows he must stop Braxton from taking everything he has and turning it to ash.

Gemma Woods has loved Brycen for years, but ever so slowly the happiness she once felt in the arms of her lover has turned to fear and resentment.

Braxton has one goal, one thought, and one mission – destroy Brycen Cole, by any means necessary.
He will not stop.
He will not fail.
Like a juggernaut, he will keep coming, destroying everything in his wake.

Brycen runs a successful corporation and provides a lot of pay-checks; he also has a shady past and a dark talent for hiding things.

Gemma spots the wolf in sheep’s clothing but cannot stop gravitating towards him again and again.

What happens when the lines between good and evil become blurred?
What happens when the one you love is the one you should fear?
What happens when the one you fear becomes the only one you can trust?
I love a dark read, especially one that will keep me on the edge of my seat, or in this case the edge of my bed (I am sick and have been ordered to rest, so I am resting by reading lol).  Anyways as I was saying I love when I am so enthralled into a book that I must keep reading to find out what the next page, hell the next paragraph will bring and this happened for me with Retribution.  Add into the equation a love triangle and I was caught hook, line and sinker for the entire book.  I am keeping this review short and sweet because I am really trying to not give any kind of spoiler away but I will say this, that ending had me screaming where is the rest of the book?  I need more now.

If you aren’t a fan of dark, suspenseful reads then you may want to skip over Retribution, but if you are like me who like books that tend to be darker and has some suspense to it then I think you will be sucked into it from the very first page until the last.

Author Bio

Mandy Lou Dowson was born and raised in a small town in Ireland, in 1983, and at this stage in life, she's pretty sure the town won't let her leave. Family is a huge deal to Mandy. She has three wonderful children (most of the time), and two Siberian Huskies who are each as naughty as the other – in fact, she's sure they egg each other on in silly cartoon voices when nobody is looking.

~

“Climb out the window and get covered in mud.”

“No, I did it last time. You do it!”

“R'uh, r'oh, here SHE is. Shhh.”

~

When she's not writing, reading, or plotting her next book -- or, you know, world domination – , she likes to relax with a few glasses of wine and some karaoke. You can usually find her procrastinating on social media of some sort, chatting to fans and talking nonsense.

Mandy started reading at quite a young age and her appetite for the written word has only increased with time. It would not be at all surprising to find her reading anything and everything from shampoo bottles to Edgar Allan Poe.

She is the author of three different genres of romance books. The Moon Bound series, which is in the Paranormal Romance genre, and is gathering rave reviews, and the Taboo series, which is Contemporary with a hint of the forbidden, the first of which has gathered very mixed reviews across the board, from one extreme to the other.

She has also made a foray into Dark Romance recently, with her first title in the genre, Retribution, releasing in Summer 2015.
