Synopsis

ROCK STAR? RECOVERING ADDICT? MURDERER?
Yeah, they all hold true.
How can you explain to someone what it's like not to care? Not about yourself or the person standing next to you. I've lost that, the ability to feel and show affection.
I DO, HOWEVER, HAVE A HEART.
Sometimes, when I chase the dragon, it thunders through my head like a drum, reminding me it still beats.
It's still there.
HOLLOW. EMPTY. WASTED.
My agent says I have one more shot. A single, solitary chance to stay in the music biz, but there is one massive problem.
HER. SYN LANDRY.

REVIEW

Wasted Heart is the story of one man’s journey through darkness and the struggles with drug addiction, while the woman who falls for him puts her heart on the line in her attempt to save him from himself.

Rhye Clark has hit rock bottom.  His record label has had it with him.  They’re giving him one chance to clean up his act or they’re cutting him off.  He could care less if it wasn’t for the fact that he now supports his mom.  Knowing she needs him he accepts their terms.

Syn Landry is a rising country music sensation whose record label would like to see her go more mainstream.  In their efforts to facilitate that process, they set her up with a hot shot writing team and want her to collaborate with rocker, Rhye Clark.

From the moment Syn sets eyes on Rhye she’s taken by him.  There’s something about the darkness in his eyes that pulls at her.  She wants to heal him, shelter him,…love him.  Rhye, on the other hand, wants her to stay away from him.

I have to be honest here.  I didn’t care for the instant love Syn felt for Rhye.  I thought the timing was too soon and therefore unbelievable for those type of feelings.  Syn and Rhye really hadn’t had the chance to form much of a connection that would incite those feelings from her.  However, Rhye and the way that she stuck by him to try to help him were my saving grace.

Rhye is emotionally and mentally broken.  He seeks drugs out as a means to escape his past.  My heart ached for the despair he was in.  People truly wanted to help him, but he was too far gone to care; lost to his own agonizing torment.  Syn never gave up on him.  She made him face parts of his past and his present.  She made him face her.  He thought he was unworthy.  Syn thought he was worth it all.

The ending doesn’t leave us off with a cliffhanger, but it does leave me feeling things are unresolved.  I hope this means we will have another Rhye book.  He is far from healed by the end of Wasted Heart, but he is on the road to recovery.

Wasted Heart is book 3 in the Ruining series.  I strongly suggest you read books 1 and 2 first.  Oh and you might want to have tissues handy when you do.

Review: Ruining Me by Nicole Reed

Ruining Me brought out a multitude of emotions in me. At times it left me feeling downright bi-polar. I was happy, sad, outraged, and heartbroken all at the turn of a page. My stomach was in such turmoil knowing something was coming. What that something was turned out to be more than I anticipated.

A vile, repulsive, disgusting, nightmare clings darkly to Jay’s life. She’s kept it hidden for so long; cutting herself off from everyone. But one slips through and cracks the protective shell she has built. Soon her fortress is tumbling down. Her long harbored secrets are spilled for all to see. The shame and humiliation aren’t enough though. Fate can be a low-down dirty bitch and she’s not done with Jay yet. Things have been set in motion. Her pain is not her own. The rippling effects rock those around her. Broken and despaired, how much further can she sink?

My heart wept for Jay. The secrets she kept buried were consuming her. For two years she withdrew herself from everyone around her that ever mattered. She was damaged and alone; suffering in silence, believing it was for the best. She jumped from bed to bed, only allowing no strings attached, one-night stands as a means of control over her life. Out of the blue, Kane enters the picture. The intensity of the attraction she feels for him gives him the capability of breaking her down and making her want a future again. Kane feels it too and doesn’t give up when she tries to push away. JT, her longtime sweetheart, never stopped yearning for the girl who owned his heart. Unaware of her reasons for retreating, he feels enough time has passed and is determined to get his girl back. Torn between her past, present and tightly guarded secrets, Jay must decide on her future. Just when she’s decided to finally move forward her life is ripped to shreds all over again.

In the final moments, I saw the end coming. While tightly gripping my eReader, I silently prayed that Ms. Reed wouldn’t take us there, but she did. She took us there and so much further. I was too much in shock to cry at this point; my heart and mind had disengaged. I was left speechless. Of course the only remedy for me was to quickly shut this book and open the sequel.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Ruining You by Nicole Reed

Ruining You, the dramatic conclusion to Ruining Me, yet again had my emotions riding the bi-polar coaster and leaving me with the threat of whiplash.

It’s been a couple of months since the destruction that left Jay emotionally crippled. Her secrets are out, lives have faced obliteration, everyone is forever changed and now she must learn to cope. She has to heal. But to do so, she has to first want to live…for her.

Jay was lucky enough to find love twice in her life, but sadly one of those loves was taken too soon. Her dreams, her imaginings, left me in tears each and every time; they felt so real and had me reliving her loss. She was drowning in her guilt and anger. She had to get past the hurt. Jay needed to find a way to live again. Ruining You is Jay’s journey to reclaiming her life and once again paving her future. Her family, friends and one very special man are there to support her. But, this is one path she has to come to on her own.

Again, just as things were starting to fall into place, Ms. Reed had to shake the foundation. She is quite good at pleasing us one minute, then knocking us on our butt and keeping us on edge the next. This was a good story that will stay with you for a while.

Nicole will be giving away an ebook of RUINING YOU at each stop. Please leave a comment with your email address to be entered in the giveaway. Thanks and good luck!!
