Synopsis
ROCK STAR? RECOVERING ADDICT? MURDERER?
Yeah, they all hold true.
How can you explain to someone what it's like not to care? Not about yourself or the person standing next to you. I've lost that, the ability to feel and show affection.
I DO, HOWEVER, HAVE A HEART.
Sometimes, when I chase the dragon, it thunders through my head like a drum, reminding me it still beats.
It's still there.
HOLLOW. EMPTY. WASTED.
My agent says I have one more shot. A single, solitary chance to stay in the music biz, but there is one massive problem.
HER. SYN LANDRY.
REVIEW
Wasted Heart
is the story of one man’s journey through darkness and the struggles with drug
addiction, while the woman who falls for him puts her heart on the line in her
attempt to save him from himself.
Rhye Clark has hit rock bottom. His record label has had it with him. They’re giving him one chance to clean up his
act or they’re cutting him off. He could
care less if it wasn’t for the fact that he now supports his mom. Knowing she needs him he accepts their terms.
Syn Landry is a rising country music
sensation whose record label would like to see her go more mainstream. In their efforts to facilitate that process,
they set her up with a hot shot writing team and want her to collaborate with
rocker, Rhye Clark.
From the moment Syn sets eyes on Rhye
she’s taken by him. There’s something
about the darkness in his eyes that pulls at her. She wants to heal him, shelter him,…love him. Rhye, on the other hand, wants her to stay
away from him.
I have to be honest here. I didn’t care for the instant love Syn felt
for Rhye. I thought the timing was too
soon and therefore unbelievable for those type of feelings. Syn and Rhye really hadn’t had the chance to
form much of a connection that would incite those feelings from her. However, Rhye and the way that she stuck by
him to try to help him were my saving grace.
Rhye is emotionally and mentally
broken. He seeks drugs out as a means to
escape his past. My heart ached for the
despair he was in. People truly wanted
to help him, but he was too far gone to care; lost to his own agonizing torment. Syn never gave up on him. She made him face parts of his past and his
present. She made him face her. He thought he was unworthy. Syn thought he was worth it all.
The ending doesn’t leave us off with
a cliffhanger, but it does leave me feeling things are unresolved. I hope this means we will have another Rhye
book. He is far from healed by the end
of Wasted Heart, but he is on the
road to recovery.
Wasted Heart
is book 3 in the Ruining series. I strongly
suggest you read books 1 and 2 first. Oh
and you might want to have tissues handy when you do.

Meet Nicole I love angst….I thrive on it, but only the fictional kind. I adore a story that grips the reader from the beginning and doesn’t let go…EVER. I’m an avid reader who just recently discovered my love of writing. My favorite things in life include my three wild & crazy kids, Reese’s Pieces, and every genre of music. I reside in the Deep South. Currently, I am writing a new adult/contemporary romance story that I can’t wait to share. I also plan to release Rhye’s story, Wasted Heart, in 2013.
