I was given the incredible opportunity
to sit down and have some one-on-one face time with the attending authors at
the recent Houston event. It was a blast! I got to pick their brains for five
minutes each. Thanks to all of you who submitted questions, I was armed and
prepared. ~Nadine

Today’s spotlight is Carey Heywood! You asked the questions,
she answered them. Enjoy!
Magan
Vernon specifically wanted me to ask you…if you will make a Facebook fanpage
for your husband?
No! No, I will not! I will not make a
Facebook fanpage for my husband because after y’all fan-girled all over him at
Savannah he was impossible to freakin’
live with. So, NO, that will not be happening. In fact you may never see him
again. I’m not threatening his life, I just may never bring him to another book
signing. He. Was. Impossible. To. Live. With. He asked me after the fact if he
should look into modeling. And…um…because I love him and I appreciate honesty
in people I told him he should first look into a gym membership. You’re allowed
to say that to your spouse. (Note: After
the interview I asked to see a pic of her hubs. Magan Vernon, where do we start
the petition to get that man his fanpage? :D)
What
inspired you to start writing?
I’ve always been an avid reader and I
started writing my first book after a massive hangover, book hangover not the
alcohol like induced kind, of a trilogy I had just finished reading and I went
to go buy another book and nothing was speaking to me for whatever reason at
that moment. So I just sort of had the idea what if I wrote something that I
would like to read. And that’s where I started writing my first book.
What
are you planning to do next?
Sawyer
Says, a side character spin-off from the
Him and Her series comes in May and I’m finishing my first draft of a future
series; the first book in a new series that will come out in July.
If
you could turn one of your books into a TV series or a movie, which one would
you choose?
Better. I think Better
would be an amazing movie.
What
inspired your characters?
Well one thing, there is a piece of me
in every single book. Like, Sarah habitually spins a thumb ring and that is
100% me. Aubrey in Better is a picky eater and does not enjoy shellfish and
that is me. And Sawyer is quite hysterical and I assume that’s me cause I like
to think I’m quite funny.
Is
your husband in any of the books?
Well…you know what there…I could…he is…okay
so she read one of my books (looks to her assistant for the day) and um…I’m not
going to say that. Never mind, I’m not totally saying that. Stop it! Okay…okay
well I’ll say it. She called me out and said Oh My God that’s like from your
bedroom and I may or may not when my husband’s about to come tell him to get it
get it. (I could not stop laughing!)
Damn those chimes! I was having so much
fun and sad to see my time was up. Visit Carey at the links below and check out
