Mike Haddican is a really great guy who is from a small
town, runs his family’s gym and is a well-known Karate instructor. He is one sexy man, tattooed and pierced he
can have any woman he wants, and has in the past, especially after the girl he
loved broke his heart seven years prior. Kyra was everything he wanted, he
loved her more than anything but when the choice came for her to choose between
him and the career she always wanted, she chose her dance career.
Kyra Brims was a successful dancer, she had made it and was
well known, she has a beautiful daughter and a failed marriage. Returning to her home town wasn’t what she
ever wanted to do but she has no choice now.
Knowing that Mike was still there, hated her, and had numerous women
since they broke up made it even worse.
Things aren’t always what they seem. What Mike and Kyra don’t know are that things
that happened shortly after she left weren’t what she thought, and Mike had no
idea what hell Kyra had gone through, but when her daughter Sam weaseled her
way into his heart at the same time he was spending time with Kyra again, they
had no idea what would lie ahead of them.
Add to that the OGs meddling into their business and these two didn’t
stand the chance. Oh and the OGs stand
for Original Grandmas and trust me when I say these OGs aren’t sitting in their
rocking chairs knitting scarves. Nope
the shenanigans they pull are hilarious.
Mike, holy alpha on a stick, he was a major asshole at
times, but at the same time he was really a great guy. His heart had been broken by Kyra, then
stomped on when she finally did return only with a newborn baby and a husband
to boot. He made his contempt of her well
know, that is until Sam, Kyra’s daughter with her asshole ex-husband, worked
her way into his life and heart.
Kyra knew when she left Mike it would break her, and it
did. The only thing she wasn’t prepared
for was to be more broken when she returned after she left to see that he moved
on to someone new. She wasn’t happy, she
ended up with an asshole who could win asshole of the year awards. The only good thing was her daughter Sam. Kyra had demons, ones she left with and ones
she returned with along with new ones.
At times I would get so pissed off at both of them. You could tell these two were the other
halves to each’s hearts. Talk about a
stubborn alpha male and a hard headed stubborn woman and these two could make a
nun lose patience. But, once guards go
down, hearts open back up a little at a time, and add to that some extremely
hot sex scenes, and you wanted these two together like now now now. Add to that the hilarious OGs and this book
really won me over even when at times I wasn’t sure it would.
Deep Down is a
book about first loves find second chances, hearts healing, alpha’s protecting
what’s theirs and a trio of grandmas who get in more trouble than me and my
friends on a night out. I hope that Ms.
Aycart has the next book in this series out soon because even if it is just for
the text messages gone horribly wrong due to autocorrect (and while I won’t
name names one of our very own reviewers has this issue a lot lol, love you
girl!) I really want to read more. This
had me laughing, smiling and believing that love can last even after being separated
for years.
