I was given the incredible opportunity
to sit down and have some one-on-one face time with the attending authors at
the recent Houston event. It was a blast! I got to pick their brains for five
minutes each. Thanks to all of you who submitted questions, I was armed and
prepared. ~Nadine

she answered them. Enjoy!
What
inspired you to start writing?
I’ve always been a writer. I just never
sat down and took the time to do it. I’ve always had the stories in my head, I
just never really took the time to sit down and really fulfill the actual story
put it pen to paper or sit down with the laptop to do it. So, I finally did
that in I guess starting in 2012 is when I kind of really started working on
the story. It took me a good eight months to get it out and where I was
comfortable enough to say okay I’m going to send this out to beta readers and
send it out to an editor. So, it took me a while, but it was just taking that
time for myself to take that story and let it out of my head.
What
are you planning to do next?
I am still working on two different
stories. The third and final book in the Unbreakable series, which is titled Unforgiven, that will close out this
series. Then I’m working on a standalone romantic suspense called Evil Lives Here. That one right now is
kind of my favorite story. It’s just very different that the contemporary
romance that I’ve been writing. It’s still contemporary romance, but it’s a
little darker, a little more suspense to it. I read multiple genres. I fluctuate
between romance and mystery thriller. I love Mary Higgins Clark. I love
Patricia Cornwell. So, I’m kind of taking some of those little things I’ve read
in their work, just that, that suspense background and working it into the
romance, contemporary romance novel.

If
you could turn one of your books into a TV series or a movie, which one would
you choose?
Oh my gosh! I think it would be Unbreakable. I think that there is just
a lot happening in that story. There’s a lot of characters. There’s a lot of
depth in that story that eventually carries on to Undone, but you get so much background in Unbreakable. I think that would be the one I’d make into a movie.
It’s funny too cause those are the ones that I found real life actors to envision
as my characters.
Who’s
your dream cast?
For Gabe Garcia is was Jay Hernandez
from the Friday Night Lights T.V. series. Jessica Harper, Jess, I really
envisioned Emma Roberts; the dark haired Emma Roberts as her. Just kind of that
young, very innocent sweet face. And Landon was always
Stephen
Amell from the
Arrow series. He’s just got that very sexy, rugged look about him. Kind of that
all American, even though he’s Canadian, that all American, kind of that sandy
blonde hair, the blue eyes but very mysterious kind of look to his face too
which is just totally my Landon. So, that would have been my dream cast.
What
inspired your characters?
I don’t even know. It was just like I
said, it was a story that I had in my head and I just you know just wrote it.
What
is the time frame from start to finish for your first book?
My first book, I started writing it in
December of 2012 and I published it in July. It was technically done in June,
but I waited. For me I just wanted to take my time with it. So, it was I guess
about eight months total for my first book. Which everybody tells me is not a
bad timeframe cause some people work for years on a book.
If
you weren’t a writer, what would you be?
Well, I’m not always a writer. I
actually work full-time in the financial services industry. I’m a Marketing
Manager for a bank. I love my job. It keeps me busy. I love my co-workers. I
never to intend to quit just to write. I love writing to write. I love writing
stories. I guess it’s a hobby of mine. But, if I ever became dependent on it to
pay my bills or put food on the table for my family I feel like I would lose
the love for it because now it’s the pressure.
Who
do you fangirl over?
Oh my gosh, Rebecca Donovan. She was
like my…I just…I just get nervous. I took a picture with her today and I was
like ahhhh. I love her and she’s so sweet. I really respect her and what she’s
done with her business. I just I adore her.
Well that’s it folks! Ten authors. One
fun event. I thank all the authors for their time and you for stopping by and
reading their interviews. Check out more about Rebecca Shea below.
