I am a mother, wife, Registered Nurse, avid reader, and most recently pursuing taking my own writing to the next level. I appreciate honesty but not cruelty, a wicked sense of humor, and a good cup of coffee, blond with enough creamer to coat my tongue yellow.

Being an astute people watcher and having an extremely judgmental mind gives me constant inspiration for my stories. But my characters, like many authors, are conceived from actual people in my life. A hodgepodge of personality traits, real world instances, and conversations that I have directly taken part in are the foundation for my fictional world.

Cover Reveal: Broken Barriers By Sara Shirley

It was just supposed to be a “friends with benefits” type of fling. Feelings were never supposed to get in the way. Drew Daley never thought Courtney Page would be the one to change all that.

He watched her walk away to pursue her own dreams while Drew’s Marine Corps orders sent him packing for a tour of duty in Afghanistan. Something told him to never let her go; to fight for her and his country.

Can a decision from years ago make all the difference in one’s future?

Time has passed. People have changed. Lives have gone in different directions. Drew returns broken and torn after nearly eighteen months overseas and everything isn’t what it was when he left. Life after deployment isn’t nearly as easy to fit into as he thought. Until new friends and familiar faces enter his life and everything changes.

When his mind is trying to piece together all the puzzles surrounding his life, Cole Porter might just be the one to heal his broken heart and guide him in the right direction. However something about Cole is vaguely familiar to Drew. Despite what his head tells him he begins to get closer to her.

Will Drew finally be able to let his heart heal and move on?

Sometimes you have to face your dreams and fears all at once in order to recover. Otherwise you may never heal the broken pieces inside of you.

~ ABOUT THE AUTHOR ~
Sara Shirley
I think my love for books started when I was a teenager on summer vacations reading Mary Higgins Clark novels. As I grew older that turned into reading romance novels. Now, that's turned into me writing three romance novels and another on the way in the series.

In college I actually majored in Geography and concentrated in Travel & Tourism. I still love to travel constantly, but now find myself working in the world of Finance during the day and writing romance novels at night.

I was born and raised just north of Boston and currently live with my husband and cat. When I'm not running a mile a minute with work and books you can find me at a local wine tasting or out with friends at the pub doing shots of Patron. I have a weak spot for candy, Ghirardelli chocolate to be exact. I am addicted to the three "C"s. Coffee, Cheese and Carbs. I grew up with an Italian family and giving those up will never be an option.

I typically have a dirty mind and zero filter between my head and my mouth. If you are around me...good luck. I'm obsessed with hockey, Oregon football, beaches, Supernatural, Friends and stupid comedy movies. I've been called a "tall drink of water" due to my height and love for platform heels. Chances are you will not miss me if we are ever in the same room. Just look for the chick laughing hysterically, wearing heels and holding a glass of wine in her hand. That will be me.

Review: Disclosure Series by R.E. Hunter

She was running toward her future. He was running from his past. When their worlds collided, nothing could prepare them for what was to come.

Desperate to overcome her painful past, Embry Jacobs searches for a fresh start in law school. A man is the last thing she wants. Or needs. Until she meets Luke Brody.

Luke has demons of his own. He wants nothing more than to move on, but when Embry walks into his life, his mistakes come back to haunt him.

Secrets and lies spiral out of control as they struggle with their forbidden love. When everything comes undone, can the damage be unbroken?

I did not, did NOT, want to put this book down. I was entranced from the start. But of course as in life, I was faced with many interruptions; one being of the six year old variety. So I found myself going to great lengths to find some much needed solitude and finish this book. I even took to hiding in the children's bathtub with the curtain drawn, lights off, and hoping beyond hope they would not spy the glow coming from my phone. Why was I reading on my phone? Because it's easier to conceal in my pocket. Whereas mom walking through the house toting her Kindle is like wearing a neon sign that blares DISTURB ME with an arrow pointing directly at me. So aside from the cold from the tub seeping through my clothes, I settled in to finish reading about hot, sexy, seductive Luke. Professor hot, sexy, seductive Luke and his taboo romance with Bree.

I honestly fell in love with BOTH characters. Embry, Bree, is a twenty-five year old law student. She is dedicated to her future and is constantly working hard to maintain her high GPA and keep her scholarship. She’s smart and strong. Bree may not see the strength in herself, but I could. She’s got a past that has left marks on her emotional well being. But when she meets Luke, he makes her feel safe and secure. She finally takes a chance at a relationship and love again.

Luke, oh my Lord where do I start? He is intense and seductive. I love a man who looks you in the eye while charming the pants off of you. But he’s patient. He doesn’t want to rush things. He wants to take the time to get to know Bree. Luke cares for her and takes care of her. He’s a nurturer with a sexy, southern accent. Seriously, I could go on and on and on and… You get the point.

I could not get enough of these two together. They absolutely fit! But, Luke has kept something from her. It divides them romantically for a while. My heart ached to see them apart. They were hurting, themselves and at some point each other. When they do get back together of course my heart rejoiced. I was elated. We’re on the road to happiness here. But oh no, no no no. R.E. Hunter couldn’t leave it there. Luke has one more secret he’s kept from Bree. A pretty big one. It brought Bree’s world to an absolute halt. My heart split and pieces of it fell into the pit of my stomach. I was literally in tears. As if that wasn’t enough, Ms. Hunter has one more curve ball to throw. The last page in the epilogue…the last two sentences…broke me. I was left an emotional wreck. I was crying for Bree and Luke and the state of their relationship. I was angry at the possibilities over what the last two sentences could bring in the next book. In case you haven’t guessed by now, yes, it’s a cliffhanger ending. But a very, very GOOD cliffhanger. A double cliffhanger! One of the best ones I’ve read.

R.E. Hunter did an amazing job evoking feelings in me, the reader. I felt every sensation there was to feel in this book. Every caress, every heated stare, the frustration and anger; I felt all of it. I love when an author does that to me.

I truly cannot wait for the sequel. Ms. Hunter has made a fan girl out of me.
This is romance at its best. Unbroken is sexy, seductive, love-beats-all, we’re-in-it-together, can’t-be-stopped, heartwarming romance. R.E. Hunter has outdone herself with this sequel. By the time I read the words “The End”, my heart was full and my emotions spent. Dare I say, getting to the end of Luke and Embry’s journey was much like the euphoric release one experiences during the big “O”. The slow burn and seduction of a well told story. The spike in adrenaline during the climactic rise. Then finally, the pay off, the satiated, toe tingling rush coursing through you when reaching that ultimate high. In my head, I was screaming ‘yes, yes, yes!’ These two amazing, strong people held together and as a team confronted and defeated the obstacles in their lives. This is love.

“I don’t work without you, Embry. I never have, and I never will.”

When we last saw Luke and Embry, I had no clue how they were going to recover or which direction their story was going to go. My heart was hurting for them, my mind going crazy with all the possible scenarios. I was ecstatic that we didn’t have to wait long to see them find their way back to each other. That’s not to say that Ms. Hunter didn’t twist me in knots. On the contrary, my stomach and nerves pitched in quite a few places. Embry had to learn to let go of the hurt and decide to trust Luke again. Luke was noticeably sorry for all the pain he caused her and tried his damndest to make it up to her. Then there were the outside forces working against them. Old demons that needed to be dealt with. Her past. His. At one point, my heart was in my throat. Unbroken kept me on edge till the very end.

He’d broken her down, shattered her, then put her back together again.

It is rare when a sequel can surpass the first book, equal footing yes, but to exceed book one doesn’t happen often. R.E. Hunter has accomplished that feat. If you haven't yet picked up this series, what are you waiting for? Get to it!

“My home’s right here, Embry…As long as you’re there, I’m home.”

Release Blitz: Jake Understood By Penelope Ward

From the New York Times bestselling author of Jake Undone, comes a full-length standalone companion novel and sequel.

A different side to the story: Jake’s side.

“We’re getting a new roommate,” they said.

I thought nothing of it...until she walked in the door. Her hand trembled in mine as she looked at me with fearful eyes. My entire world spun on its axis.

Nina...

It was a mismatch made in heaven: innocent girl from the boonies moves in with tattooed, pierced, badboy engineer.

I came up with a bet, a plan to tutor her in math and coach her through her phobias. What I wasn’t betting on was becoming addicted to her.

But I was living a double life on weekends, and once she found out about it, she’d be gone.

I had to protect myself and that meant one thing: I couldn’t fall in love.

In Jake Understood, pivotal scenes from Jake Undone are retold from Jake’s point of view combined with all-new material from both the past and present time where Jake Undone left off. It can stand alone but if both books are read, should follow Jake Undone. Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+.

Review: Beginning Of Forever By: Laramie Briscoe

Love
Fear
Hope
Danger

Tyler and Meredith Blackfoot have a long and complicated history. A relationship born out of the worst thing a woman can endure has blossomed into a greater love than either of them could have ever imagined. Now, with answered prayers and Addie a permanent part of their family, they are ready to move forward.

Meredith with her work as Director of the CRISIS center. Tyler busy mentoring younger members of the club and the teenagers that look up to him with wide-eyed amazement.

Life is going exactly the way they want it to until a woman shows up at CRISIS that could threaten everything they’ve worked so hard to achieve. She’s dangerous, and only a select few know why. Secrets are kept and stresses mount as the Blackfoots get the biggest surprise of their lives.

Tyler will do anything to protect the woman he loves and the young family they’ve created together. When the reason he breathes is threatened, he does everything in his power to prove it’s not the end, but the beginning of forever.

This review is a hard one to write.  Why you may ask?  Well it’s because I had mixed feelings about Beginning Of Forever.  Let me be straight up when I say that Tyler and Meredith have been one of my favorite couples of the Heaven Hill series since the start, so when I found out that the author was going to do a second book for them I was excited.  Now this is where those mixed feelings on my part come in.  Was I happy that we got more Tyler and Meredith?  Yes I was.  Was I happy that we saw more of the other couples and ones yet to get together (read the book and you know what I am meaning)?  Again yes I was.

So you are probably sitting there reading this (hopefully) asking if she loved those things then what is causing these mixed feelings.  It at times almost felt like I was reading a G rated version of the things we have come to love about the Heaven Hill series.  This series has never been overly filled with sex or violence and it has worked because it shows that the MC is more of a family but something was just missing for me.

Now with those mixed feelings please let me be very clear about something.  I still liked Beginning Of Forever, I will still continue to read further because the next book has the potential to knock us on our asses because it is about Drew and I can’t wait to see how the young man we met in book one has all grown up.

Blog Tour: Unforgettable Sun By Kathryn Andrews

Matt Hale

I’ve never really been included. I’ve never felt like I truly belonged. But then again, how could I? Living on this island, I’ve seen and heard too many things. Lies. Secrets.

“Lies I’ve been forced to tell and secrets I’ve been forced to keep. They keep me locked to myself.”

They’re the reason I stand on the edge of the horizon and watch from afar. Other people’s lives have evolved, but not mine. It’s exactly the same. Day after day, the sun rises, and every time its rays penetrate my skin, I’m reminded that no matter how desperately I don’t want to be, I’m trapped. I want to live. I want to breathe. I just want to be . . . free.

Elle Summers

If I had my way, I would have walked off the catwalk and straight out of the public eye years ago. Never-ending contracts and obligations have kept me prisoner until recently.

“Now it is fear that has me trapped and running from my life.”

I’m now hiding in a tiny beach cottage in my mother’s hometown, praying no one will find me. No one understands. The demands, lack of control, threats ... I just want it all gone. I want to escape. When do I finally get to be me? Free.

I know I have said many times that as a reviewer I always try to read the previous books in a series before the one I am actually reviewing.  I do this for many different reasons.  Besides the one so I am caught up on things that may help to be known, it is also to discover a new series.  And that my fellow readers, is something that when you find a series that sinks into your soul that is a beautiful thing. The very beautiful thing happened when I started the Hale Brothers series in preparation for my review of Unforgettable Sun.  Trust me you will not want to skip out of the Hale brothers.

I am going to try to make this review short and sweet, because sometimes the perfect review can be only a couple of sentences long versus a long drawn out detailed review.  I have done both types but for Unforgettable Sun let’s just say that it is one a book that is unforgettable.  Matt’s story will leaving your heart breaking, so much so that you just want to repair the pieces for him so he is no longer feeling so alone. Elle’s story is just as heartbreaking.  Both of these characters are broken, but can they put the pieces of each other back together?   You know those things we all have called emotions?  Well, be prepared for them to go into overdrive because trust me they will.

As I stated before Unforgettable Sun is an unforgettable book.  It is the final book in the Hale Brother’s series but is one, along with the first two books, that will be read over and over again by me and hopefully you all as well.

Elle
Dust kicks up around the tires as I drive down the little side road made up of a mix of dirt, sand, and crushed oyster shells. Up ahead of me, I stare at the house that still looks as picturesque as the first time that I saw it.
A mixture of unwelcome feelings course through me. On one hand, this place feels like home, although it never was, and on the other, it’s the home she—my mother—always wanted and couldn’t have.
The house is a large light blue Key West style home with white columns, a huge wrap around porch, and what seems like endless amounts of windows to let the light in. It faces west and I remember every night at dusk the golden light poured in through the windows warming the home, making it feel all buttery and perfect.
Parking the car on the circular drive, I get out and take a deep breath. I made it. The air is crisper than I expected and smells clean. Looking around, I see that not much has changed here and the familiarity this brings me is comforting.
Slowly, I walk up the porch steps to approach the front door. Assuming that she might just be waking up, I knock softly over ringing the doorbell. My heart is pounding in my chest and my palms are sweaty. Wiping them on my pants, I just stand here and wait for the door to open. A moment of regret sweeps through me. Maybe I shouldn’t have come here. Maybe I should have gone to a hotel.
It suddenly hits me; why did I come here? Out of all the places I could have gone, the car steered itself here. Maybe it's because deep down, I know I have nowhere else to go, or maybe it’s the thought that the last time I truly felt happy and content, was here.
The soft thud of footsteps gets louder as they quickly near the door, I stop breathing.

OVER TEN YEARS ago my husband and I were driving from Chicago to Tampa and somewhere in Kentucky I remember seeing a billboard that was all black with five white words, “I do, therefore I am!” I’m certain that it was a Nike ad, but for me I found this to be completely profound.

Take running for example. Most will say that a runner is someone who runs five days a week and runs under a ten minute mile pace. Well, I can tell you that I never run five days a week and on my best days my pace is an eleven minute mile. I have run quite a few half marathons and one full marathon. No matter what anyone says . . . I run, therefore I am a runner.

I’ve taken this same thought and applied it to so many areas of my life: cooking, gardening, quilting, and yes . . . writing.

I may not be culinary trained, but I love to cook and my family and friends loves to eat my food. I cook, therefore I am a chef!

My thumb is not black. I love to grow herbs, tomatoes, roses, and lavender. I garden, therefore I am a gardener!

I love beautiful fabrics and I can follow a pattern. My triangles may not line up perfectly . . . but who cares, my quilts are still beautiful when they are finished. I quilt, therefore I am a quilter.

I have been writing my entire life. It is my husband who finally said, “Who cares if people like your books or not? If you enjoy writing them and you love your stories…then write them.” He has always been my biggest fan and he was right. Being a writer has always been my dream and what I said I wanted to be when I grew up.

So, I’ve told you who I am and what I love to do . . . now I’m going to tell you the why.

I have two boys that are three years a part. My husband and I want to instill in them adventure, courage, and passion. We don’t expect them to be perfect at things, we just want them to try and do. It’s not about winning the race; it’s about showing up in the first place. We don’t want them to be discouraged by society stereotypes, we want them to embrace who they are and what they love. After all, we only get one life.

In the end, they won’t care how many books I actually sell . . . all that matters to them is that I said I was going to do it, I did it, and I have loved every minute of it.

Find something that you love and tell yourself, “I do, therefore I am.”
