Sometimes you meet the right person at the wrong time…
Mark and Meredith were high-school sweethearts. They were each other’s firsts. They loved each other deeply, but at seventeen with future goals and dreams ahead how could it last? Devastating both their hearts, Meredith chose to embark on her future without Mark. Where she was headed and what she wanted to achieve she couldn’t bear any distractions. And that’s exactly what Mark was for her. A distraction.

…But true love has a way of finding its way back.
Fast forward ten years later and
Meredith is back in town. A tragic event reunites her and Mark. When they see
each other again, it’s like no time has passed. The feelings and knowledge of
one another are still there. Stronger now with age and distance. But can they
make it work? Is their time now or will Meredith walk away from Mark again?
“You are my biggest what if, M.”
Kristen Proby has a way of writing
believable fiction. I forgot I was reading a romance novel and instead felt
like I was witnessing two people meant to be together finally find their way to
each other. She truly brings her characters to life.
Mark and Meredith never got over each
other. There may have been lovers between their separation, but none came close
to ever making it into their hearts. There wasn’t a moment that one didn’t
think about the other.
“…It’s hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.”
But fear, not the chase of future
dreams, may be their downfall this time around. Mark doesn’t trust that
Meredith won’t leave him again. She’s chosen to leave him behind before. Meredith
is terrified of losing him. After all, everyone she loves…dies. There’s a scene
towards the end of this book where Meredith is faced with her fear. It is heart
wrenching and painful to see what triggers her fear of loss. Kristen Proby had
me curled in a ball, clutching my Kindle and bawling my eyes out. That
particular scene really made me reflect on my own life and how fast things could
change. I wanted to gather my kids and husband and just hold them, being that
is was well past midnight at the time I let them sleep. But it was a good
reminder of what not to take for granted.
“There were days…I would have exchanged a year of my life to touch you one
more time.”
Of course Breathe With Me was full of
steamy bedroom scenes that could have fogged up my glasses. Mark in the bedroom…yum!
Alpha male, adoring, attentive. Oh the characters that reside in Ms. Proby’s
head.
“I love you so much it hurts to breath, Meredith.”
One thing I’ve said time and again
throughout my reviews of this series is I love how we see everyone. I mean
every character from this series. We see their lives evolve. Babies born and
children growing. We’re invited on the crazy, wild Girls Night Outs. And this
book does not disappoint with the GNO. The Montgomery and Williams clans head
to Vegas for a weekend. Yeah, let your imagination run from there.
The air smells of sweet liquor and bad choices as the girls laugh and
high-five each other.
Overall this was a fantastic read and
one not to miss. Only one more to go till the end of this amazing series. Thank
you, Ms. Proby, for this wonderful journey you have kept us on. Until next
time.
