Virtual Tour: Falling Hard By Helenkay Dimon

After a grueling assignment with the black ops force known as the Alliance, Weston Brown is craving downtime. Instead, he's pulled into his deadliest operation, in the one place he never wanted to see again. No-nonsense and so damn hot, Lexi Turner lied to get him to her mountain clinic in Pakistan. But the threat is terrifyingly real.

Lexi has been asking too many questions, drawing the wrong kind of attention. As soon as she lays eyes on West, she can tell he's quiet—yet tough—and has a rescue complex which will come in handy for going up against the world's most ruthless gunrunners.

Cut off from the rest of the Alliance, Lexi and West navigate the brutal terrain and a primal sexual attraction. Sticking around has never been West's way, but now he'll use every resource to keep Lexi by his side, safe from a killer who leaves no loose ends behind.

What can I say, I have a thing for military suspense action romance books.  There is just something about a sexy military hero that gets my book pulse racing.  Falling Hard isn’t an exception, but while I didn’t fall head over heels in love with it I did really enjoy reading about Lexi and Wes.  Please make sure you read the previous books before starting Falling Hard, I think it will make you enjoy this book even better.  Especially since the series is about the members of Alliance.

There was action, there was suspense, there was sexiness and there was romance.  So why didn’t I fall in love with it like I had hoped?  Honestly I don’t know.  I devoured the previous book, so maybe I had too high of expectations when I started Falling Hard, but for me it missed the mark that Playing Dirty had that drew me in and kept my attention from start to finish.  I honestly think it may have been my mood at the time so, keep that in mind because if you are a fan of military, action, suspense and romance like I am then I think you will really enjoy Falling Hard.  I know I plan on reading more by this author that is for certain.

Excerpt
After spending most of his adult life in the Marines, Weston Brown recognized a shithole when he stepped right in one. He had no one else to blame for this assignment. Just his piss poor decision-making. Next time his team leader told him about an optional operation, he’d take a pass. Wouldn’t kill him to sit one out now and then.
With his gun in his hand and his finger skimming along the side, right off the trigger, he scanned the area, squinting to check his surroundings in the fading light. Skardu, Pakistan. The town served as the launching area for high-altitude climbing expeditions. Dusty and barren, filled with grayish-brown boulders and outlined by a towering mountain range. A few rivers and bursts of green provided by man-made irrigation systems broke through the rough landscape.
This was not his idea of the ideal vacation spot, and that’s what he was supposed to be doing—taking mandatory leave—forced rest between assignments with the Alliance, the elite black ops fighting force put together mostly from the United States’ CIA and MI6, the British intelligence service.
The work suited him since he wasn’t a desk guy, but it wouldn’t be a bad thing to go a week or so without choking or shooting someone. When his eyes locked on the target dead ahead, he knew the no-violence thing wasn’t going to happen today.
He’d done this a million times. Careful steps, slowed breathing. A mental countdown to impact. Calculating the risks and preparing a second option if this one went sideways. He’d been trained to be ready—always. To kill without thinking.
His boot hit the ground right behind the armed unknown leaning against a tree and aiming his weapon at the building in the distance. The guy must have sensed him because he flinched a second before contact. Started to turn. West locked his arm around the guy’s neck before he could call out and bring his friends running.
Flailing and full of panic, he had one last burst of energy. The bottom of the guy’s shoes scraped against the loose pebbles on the ground as he beat his fists against West’s arm. West pressed harder and the guy fell in a heap in the dirt.
West had been using the choke hold since boot camp. Just shy of thirty-four and he could still take a man down in less than four seconds.

Oorah.

Virtual Tour: Easy Target By: Kay Thomas

AEGIS: an elite team of ex-military men who will do anything for their country…and their women.

Fighting to clear her brother of murder, freelance reporter Sassy Smith is suddenly kidnapped and thrown into a truck with other women who are about to be sold…or worse. When she sees an opportunity for escape Sassy takes it, but she may have just jumped from the frying pan into the fire.

Former Marine Bryan Fisher (aka Hollywood) is no stranger to dangerous situations, or to his best friend’s little sister. When he rescues Sassy, Bryan is determined to keep her safe…if he can keep his hands off of her. Because Sassy is all grown up and not at all like the girl he used to know. But he’s got bigger problems. And with enemies coming at them from every corner, Bryan and Sassy will need to work together if they’re going to survive.

I have once again broken my rule when it comes to reading a book that is a part of a series without reading the previous books.  I just didn’t have time this time to do that like I originally planned to, life just got in the way.  Did I absolutely need to read the previous books?  No, but I think I would have enjoyed the book a little more than I did had I read the first two books.  Am I going to go back to read them and do a reread of Easy Target? Damn straight I am because I really enjoyed Easy Target and I think I found a new series that I will really like once I am caught up.  I have always enjoyed military, special ops, suspense, romance types of books so this one was right up my alley.

There was plenty of action, drama, and suspense throughout the book to keep me turning the imaginary page on my kindle.  I loved how Sassy was indeed sassy and Bryan had wanted Sassy for years but hadn’t acted because of his friendship with her brother.  I loved the suspense, I really loved the action, but what I really loved the most was that I was drawn in and wanted to be right there in the action as if I was a part of the book myself.

If you are a fan of this type of book then I really recommend that you try out the Elite Ops series by Kay Thomas, of course start with the first book, I think you will really enjoy them.  Easy Target may be the third book in the series but it is far from being the last and I look forward to reading more.

Kay Thomas didn't grow up burning to be a writer. She wasn't even much of a reader until fourth grade. That's when her sister read The Black Stallion aloud to her. For hours Kay was enthralled—shipwrecked and riding an untamed horse across desert sand. Then tragedy struck. Her sister lost her voice. But Kay couldn't wait to hear what happened in the story—so she picked up that book, finished reading it herself, and went in search of more adventures at the local library.

Blog Tour: UnTouch Me By Dawn Martens

The truth always comes out, no matter how deep you try to bury it. Secrets never make their way to the grave.

Lilly Mayer has always lived a simple life. She’s loyal—maybe too loyal since faithfulness cost her the love of her life. Keeping Eden’s whereabouts a secret from everyone, including Vinny, has ripped away Lilly’s future.

Vincent “Zippo” Torino knows he’s a goddamn bastard. And he’s willing to use Lilly’s loyalty to Eden as his own escape from a hell he created. He doesn’t give a damn that he’s leaving the woman pregnant with his child behind—not when he has to protect his own destructive secret. And not when he’s sure she’s going to beat him to the punch and leave first.

As the dangers to the club escalate, nobody’s hearts—or lives—are safe.

*All books in this series are 50K words, all to be combined into ONE paperback titled UnLove Me*
Ok I am breaking out the monopoly references again so you know I am serious about what I am about to say.  If you have not read UnKiss Me first, do not pass go and do not collect $200. In other words stop reading this review right the hell now, pick up UnKiss Me, read it, and then you can not only read my review of UnTouch Me but read the book as well.

Okay are we ready to proceed? Yes? Then good.  Once again I am going to keep this short and sweet as to not give any spoilers away per the author’s request and out of respect for her.  Now some of you may remember in my UnKiss Me review that I was curing (like that’s a big surprise lol), throwing my kindle and demanding that we had book two immediately.  So I am sure you are wondering if the same happened again.  Yeah let’s just say my three year old heard one of my curse filled rants and told her grandma mommy was saying bad words again. *Hangs head in shame*  All those emotions are intensified times one hundred, at least for me they were.  Just trust me you will be on a rollercoaster ride filled with twists, turns, stomach dropping, scream inducing, loppy loops, that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

So, Dawn Martens, what does a book whore like me have to do to get the next book in her greedy little hands right now?  I can’t wait to see what else she will have in store for us, because if it is anything like the first and second books then we will be in for one hell of another ride.

Dawn Martens is a young, spunky Canadian Author.

Being a wife to Colin, and a mother to three beautiful little girls (Sarah (2007), Grace (2010), and Ava (2014)) hasn't stopped this Canadian Firecracker from pursuing her dreams of becoming a writer!

Dawn's number one passion in life is the written word, and she's extremely thankful that she has the ability to share the ramblings from the characters inside of her head with the rest of the world!

Blog Tour: End Game By Emersyn Vallis

Once upon time, there were two girls living their lives completely unaware of one another and the dangerous game they had been placed in…

Until Fate found them…

Fate saved them, made them stronger & with time, Fate brought them together to become friends rather than enemies…

Until a cruel Queen made her move, threatened the Knight,

And an innocent Pawn was sacrificed…

Now the game is in our hands…

Fate might have set us up for this… but we control the moves now…

And we have our own plan.

Revenge.
If you have not read the previous books in this series, please make sure that you do not just because you will need to know what has been happening but because this has become one of my favorite series that I have read this year so far.

You remember all of the things that made you laugh in the previous books?  The banter, the sass and smart ass remarks?  You remember the element of suspense that has drawn you in since the very first book, you know, what has kept you reading the Fate series since it drew you in during the first book?  Yes, you do?  Good then be prepared for even more when you read End Game

I am going to make this review short and sweet because I do not want to give absolutely anything away but I will say that Emersyn Vallis has ended this series perfectly.  I got hooked since book one when I originally began the series for review and I stayed hooked up until the final sentence, the final word.  I hope that we get more addicting series from Emersyn Vallis in the future because she has cemented me as a fan for life.  So go grab End Game and be prepared to not want to put it down once you start.

Emersyn Vallis is a first time author with Adjournment being the first book in the Fated Series. Currently residing on the east coast with her husband and three children she is typically mistaken for being quiet and reserved her friends often describe her as a spastic spider monkey and always the first to be there with her quick wit to pull you back up when you’re feeling down. After reading as a hobby for most of her life it wasn’t until she had discovered R. L. Mathewson’s ‘Neighbor from Hell Series’ and Tara Sivec’s ‘Playing with Fire Series’ that she came up with the idea to fuse comedy and suspense together and her passion for writing was born.

Emersyn Vallis is definitely an Author I will be watching for and can't wait to read more from her. ~ Swoon Worthy Books
Emersyn has done it again. I liked Adjournment but I loved Hanging Pawns and I for one can not wait for book three in the Fate series. Emersyn is fastly becomming my favourite indie author. ~ Amazon Customer
Emersyn Vallis has done a wonderful job on the Fate Series. Adjournment, Hanging Pawns, and now Sacrifice are definitely in my definite recommend list, and re-read list for 2014/2015 ~ Amazon Customer

Release Day Launch Review & Giveaway: Seducing Lauren (Love Under the Big Sky #2) by Kristen Proby

Kristen Proby creates magic. She puts her fingers to her keyboard and sparks fly, readers swoon.

Seducing Lauren is book two in the Love Under the Big Sky series. Lauren Cunningham just got out of a nasty divorce. Her ex unfortunately is still not done with her. When he threatens more than just coming after her trust fund, Ty Sullivan finally steps into Lauren’s life and makes his feelings known. Ty has had a thing for Lauren for a while now, but thought it inappropriate to make a move before now. Lauren, having been badly burned by love and friendships, distrusts what Ty’s actual motives are. Ty doesn’t waver though. He slowly makes his way into her heart by showing her exactly how a real man that cares for her acts.

“Lauren, the only thing I want from you is you.”

Ty completely surprised me with his sensitive side. When he cares for a woman, he shows it. He is passionate, loving and protective. Once he set his mind on pursuing Lauren, he gave it his all. One of my absolute favorite things about him…Lauren has a tendency to let time escape her when she’s working, which means meals are forgotten and skipped, Ty, however, whether he’s there or not, makes sure she’s taken care of.

“…Mr. Sullivan called it in and asked us to deliver it to you. He said to send you whatever your favorite is.”

Seriously, what man does that?!

“I’m not letting you out of my sight, sweetness. You’re stuck with me.”

Lauren is a fun, feisty woman. She has no problems standing toe to toe with you and telling it like it is. Her career choice was fun to see. I detect a little bit of Ms. Proby went into her character; I’m not giving any spoilers up on that one. Being with Ty has helped get her out of her shell. We see a playful and loving side to her.

Lauren’s trust issues aren’t the only angst in this book however. This book went a little bit darker towards the end and I absolutely loved it! It was unexpected, had my heart pounding and left me an emotional mess. The turn this story took takes us outside of what we’re use to in a Kristen Proby romance novel. I think she did a phenomenal job. I for one am looking forward to seeing what other surprises she has in store for us in the future.

You NEED to read this book!

EXCERPT:

As I approach his house, I see his Jeep parked in the drive, the hood up, and a tight, jean-clad ass bent over the side.
Okay, he’s definitely home.
I tentatively wander around the other side of the Jeep and lean against the side, looking at the engine. He hasn’t noticed that I’m here yet, and I’m not even sure how he’ll react to seeing me here, but I can’t seem to stay away. His dark head is bent low, his arms buried in the engine, tinkering with something. His arms are bare as he’s pulled off his T-shirt, which is draped over the windshield. A thin sheen of sweat covers his shoulders and back, and his entire sleeve tattoo, which runs from just above his wrist all the way up to the top of his right shoulder, is on full display, making my girlie parts all tingle and come to life.
Holy Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
He’s so fucking toned it’s crazy. Jeez, his muscles bunch and stretch as he pulls on the wrench in his hand.
“Come on, you motherfucker,” he mutters. I have to bite my lips to keep from laughing out loud.
“So, what seems to be the problem?” I finally ask when he doesn’t notice me, keeping my eyes trained on the engine when his head whips up to look at me. I slowly lift my eyes to his and grin.
“I didn’t hear your car,” he murmurs with a smile.
“I walked.” I shrug and look back down into the bowels of his Jeep. “What’s wrong with your car?”
“You walked from your house?” he asks incredulously.
“No.” I shake my head and chuckle. “From Sips. I had coffee with Cara this morning.”
He stands up straight and leans his palms on the side of the Jeep, watching me. My eyes immediately fall to one drop of sweat slowly making its way down his hard chest.
“You had coffee with Cara?” He smiles.
“Yeah.” I shrug shyly. “I’m sorry to just stop by like this. I was out for a walk and just sort of found myself here.” I feel my cheeks heat and I back away, but he shakes his head and smiles widely.
“I’m glad you came by.” He raises his brows as I continue to stare.
I shake my head and raise my eyes to his, then bust out laughing.
“Why are you laughing?” he asks with a wide grin.
“Because I don’t think I’ve ever seen you without a shirt. I didn’t realize the tats went all the way up your arm. Who would have thought that under it all you’re just a bad boy?”
His eyes flash with heat as he narrows them on my face, watching me. He pulls a rag out of his back pocket and begins wiping off his hands, but his gray eyes stay on mine. Did I offend him?
“I’m not such a bad boy. Looks can be deceiving, Lauren.” He smirks as he lowers the hood on his Jeep. “But from the look of you right now, you don’t seem to mind the tats.”
“I don’t mind.” I shrug nonchalantly and try to ignore the way my heart picks up speed as he slowly saunters around the hood of the vehicle.
“Do you have any tats?”
“Yeah.”
His eyes widen in surprise and then rake over me from head to toe.
“Where?”
I grin, enjoying this flirtatious banter. “Here and there.”
“I have ways of making people talk, you know.”
“Bright lights and rubber hoses?” I ask with a raised brow.
He tosses his head back and laughs, an all-out belly laugh. “I’m not a cop,” he smirks.
“You might get to see them. Someday.”
He closes the gap between us and kisses me gently on the forehead, not touching me anywhere else.
“I hope someday comes sooner rather than later,” he whispers before pulling back and smiling softly down at me. “I would hug you, but I’m dirty.”
I wave him off, as if it’s no biggie, although I don’t mind so much that he’s a bit dirty and sweaty. “What were you doing?” I gesture to the car.
“Changing the oil.”
“There are places you can go,” I inform him with a perfectly straight face, “where you pull into this big garage, and then you leave your car and go into this small room with five-year-old magazines and stale coffee, and the people there will change your oil for you.”
“Or, smart-ass, I can do it myself in my own driveway.”
“Suit yourself.” I shrug.
“Did you sleep okay on the couch?” he asks, changing the subject.
“Yeah, actually, I did. But I could always sleep just about anywhere.”
“Hence the chaise in your office.” He chuckles.
I nod and stuff my hands in my pockets. “I’m sorry that I interrupted your morning. I was just out for a walk and found myself here.”
“I’m glad you did.” He scratches his stomach, and my eyes follow the movement. His abs are just delicious. For being so dark haired, he has little hair on his chest and stomach, but a light trail of hair falls from his navel and disappears into his jeans. He’s also sporting a V in the muscles on his hips that the heroes in my novels would covet.
“Lo?” he asks with a wide grin.
“Yeah?” I drag my eyes up to his again.
“I lost you for a second.”
I blink rapidly and feel heat fill my cheeks. Jesus, get a grip! You’ve seen hot men before, Lauren. “Sorry, my mind wandered.”

And don’t forget to read the first book in the Love Under the Big Sky Series…

Josh King is an expert at running his family’s multi-million dollar ranch in Montana. (And all that outside manual labor has done wonders for sculpting his six-foot-three body, too.) But as sure footed as he is when it comes to the ranch, Josh doesn’t know anything about how to deal with an adolescent boy—so when his twelve-year-old nephew, Seth, is dropped off on his doorstep, looking scared and acting surly as hell, Josh knows he needs help in straightening him out.

Cara Donovan loves her quiet life as a teacher in her sleepy hometown, so she jumps at the chance to make a little money over the summer as a tutor. But when she learns she’ll be teaching Josh King’s nephew, Cara’s sweet summer job gets a little bit hotter. Cara tries to focus all her attention on tutoring Seth, but Josh proves to be a delicious distraction, while Josh’s memories of the shy girl he once teased in high school are nothing like the beautiful woman he’s facing now. Can he persuade her that there’s more between them than a summer fling?
