I was given the incredible opportunity to sit down and have some one-on-one face time with the attending authors at the recent Houston event. It was a blast! I got to pick their brains for five minutes each. Thanks to all of you who submitted questions, I was armed and prepared. ~Nadine

We’ll be featuring a different author and their interview here for the next several days. Make sure you scroll to the bottom and enter the AMAZING Rafflecopter for your chance to win a SIGNED paperback from each attending author and keep scrolling for another chance to win various swag from the event.

Today’s spotlight is TARA SIVEC! You asked the questions, she answered them. Enjoy!
Were you funny as a child?
I think I was. Like in my mind I was hilarious, but I was probably just annoying. Yeah, I think I was pretty hilarious.

Is Gavin a REAL kid?
Yes, he’s my son. He’s seven now. He was four when I started writing Seduction and Snacks. So he was the basis at 100% for Gavin. And my daughter a little bit because she has her own little sneak attack humor of things that come into play. That one whole scene where Gavin has the KY Jelly and he’s like ooooh it tingles, it’s warm, that was actually my daughter that did that.

How do you come up with such hilarious characters in your Chocolate Lovers series?
A lot of it is based on real life. Things that have happened in real life. Mostly my brain is a real scary place to live. Like the stuff that is not true, you don’t ever want to be in my brain, weird things are happening in there.

How do you get any work done when you write these hilarious books?
*laughs* See, I don’t think I’m funny. My editor gets so mad at me because I’ll send her a chapter note saying this is the stupidest thing, it’s not funny at all, I hate it, she’s like you are a moron. I don’t think anything I write is funny. I always second guess what I’m doing.

What inspired you to start writing?
Boredom with my job that I was doing at the time. I just wasn’t happy with it. Things were changing and I was miserable day in and day out. In my mind I’m figuring if I’m going to work this many hours away from my family, I want to be doing something that I love. And so at my full-time job I just started writing at my cubicle in a corner where no one could see me. I wrote Seduction and Snacks and Futures and Frosting 100% when I had a full-time job. All day during work, that’s what I did, all day. Come back later, I’m busy. No, I can’t go to that meeting I have a lot of work to do. I have a lot of editing, err I mean work.

From start to finish, how long did it take you to complete your first book?
It didn’t take me long to complete it, probably a couple of months. But, the tweaking and the editing and adding things and changing things probably at least a few years.

That's all I had time for folks before the chimes dinged signaling my time with Tara was up. Yes, I said chimes! :) Make sure you pick up Tara Sivec's new release, Passion and Ponies, it's out now and will have you in fits of laughter.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Passion and Ponies by Tara Sivec

Ava Gilmore has the perfect life. She’s surrounded by people who love her, she’s having sex on a regular basis and her Coach bag collection just grew by three. The problem? She’s expected to follow in her family’s footsteps at Seduction and Snacks, working with sex toys and baked goods.

Ava loves vibrators and cupcakes as much as the next person, she’d just rather play with them than sell them. With her shopping addiction reaching an all time high and her credit card bills piling up, Ava decides to put her obsession to good use and start a fashion blog. But she has one other problem - the guy she’s having sex with has a My Little Pony addiction.

While dealing with her family’s disappointment and confusion over her choices, she finds support in the unlikeliest of places – Tyler Branson. Tyler has slowly wormed his way into her bed, her a$$ and her heart and he refuses to leave. Tyler has his own family problems to deal with and for the first time ever, Ava finds herself feeling bad for the annoying, immature guy and chanting “Friendship is magic!” during the sex she’d swore to stop having with him.

Ava needs to get her life in order once and for all before she finds herself doing something she never wanted to do – fall in love with a Brony.

Ava and Tyler.  These two are so different from each other it’s not even funny.  Ava is the fashionista, Tyler is a Brony with an unnatural knowledge of sex toys.  Ava hates working for her mother’s company.  She wants to run her fashion blog.  Tyler has no real direction, he is a Brony and loves kinky sex.  Ava can be such a bitch.  Tyler just wants to have more sex with Ava.   Ava puts up with Tyler even though he annoys her, Tyler well he just wants Ava.  These two may be polar opposites but they are the best thing to happen to each other, they support each other, even when it’s hard for the other person to understand why they are like that.  Don’t question it, they are just weirdly perfect for each other.  You can’t help who you love.

The rest of the gang from the Chocolate Lovers and Chocoholics series play huge parts in Passion and Ponies.  OMG I swear I think Claire, Carter, Liz, Jim Jenny, Drew, Gavin and Charlotte have gotten even funnier and crazier.  I loved how they all still mess with each other and are still one big dysfunctional family.  There are some OMFG moments and some that are like I so should have called that a while ago moments as well!

I learned real quick while reading this book not to eat or drink. Not. One. Thing. Or it would end up all over my Kindle because just when I thought it was safe, I would read something so fucking hilarious that I would either spit out what I was drinking (and no damn it I am not a quitter lol) or choke because I couldn’t breathe from laughing my ass off.  I almost peed my pants, I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.  I could not contain the laughter and giggles that Passion and Ponies caused.  I woke my husband up so much the night I was reading with my laughing I think he was one more laugh away from driving me to Tara Sivec’s house, dropping me off, and telling her you deal with her damn it.  Do you get my point?  This book is funny as shit!

I have a whole new view on My Little Ponies.  I played with them when I was little, I am sure if I looked around my parent’s basement that I would find some and if I did I would proudly display them damn it cause Friendship IS Magic!

I wish I could type the perfect review for this book but I can’t.  I just keep laughing and it’s making it impossible to type.  All I can say is get off your asses, and go read this book now damn it cause we all need a little magic in our lives in the form of My Little Ponies and all they represent.  Ms. Sivec you are one hilarious raunchy genius and I bow down to the queen of funny.
