Improper Relations is a quick, steamy, debut novella by Juliana Ross.
Hannah Bell is young, widowed and penniless. Her late husband's aunt, the Marchioness of Dorchester, takes her in as a companion, an unpaid position. Several years pass. Hannah is only a step up from that of a servant. The family barely tolerates her; she is a woman of no station. One afternoon she catches Leo, her late husband's cousin, debauching
the maid in the library. Hannah should be appalled by the display,
instead she's fascinated. The maid seems to be enjoying what she is
doing and what is being done to her. Although she was once a married
woman, she has little to no sexual experience.
Leo,
the black sheep of the family, catches Hannah spying. He never paid
much attention to her until now. He sees the intrigue in her eyes. He
offers to show her what pleasures can truly be found between a man and a
woman. Hannah is quick to accept, but will she be able to leave her
heart out of this? It's easy to fall for Leo. He's charismatic and confident. Hannah believes there is more to him than his family sees.
While she may be naive and inexperienced, Hannah meets him head on with enthusiasm; sometimes taking Leo by surprise. He awakens something in her she never knew was there.
The
story was well written and captures you from the beginning. It is told
through Hannah's perspective. You can feel the heat and sensuality.
There are a plenty of steamy, sexual scenes. Overall it did not
disappoint and was a good read.
