Review: Unbroken (Disclosure Series Book #2) by R.E. Hunter

This is romance at its best. Unbroken is sexy, seductive, love-beats-all, we’re-in-it-together, can’t-be-stopped, heartwarming romance. R.E. Hunter has outdone herself with this sequel. By the time I read the words “The End”, my heart was full and my emotions spent. Dare I say, getting to the end of Luke and Embry’s journey was much like the euphoric release one experiences during the big “O”. The slow burn and seduction of a well told story. The spike in adrenaline during the climactic rise. Then finally, the pay off, the satiated, toe tingling rush coursing through you when reaching that ultimate high. In my head, I was screaming ‘yes, yes, yes!’ These two amazing, strong people held together and as a team confronted and defeated the obstacles in their lives. This is love.

“I don’t work without you, Embry. I never have, and I never will.”

When we last saw Luke and Embry, I had no clue how they were going to recover or which direction their story was going to go. My heart was hurting for them, my mind going crazy with all the possible scenarios. I was ecstatic that we didn’t have to wait long to see them find their way back to each other. That’s not to say that Ms. Hunter didn’t twist me in knots. On the contrary, my stomach and nerves pitched in quite a few places. Embry had to learn to let go of the hurt and decide to trust Luke again. Luke was noticeably sorry for all the pain he caused her and tried his damndest to make it up to her. Then there were the outside forces working against them. Old demons that needed to be dealt with. Her past. His. At one point, my heart was in my throat. Unbroken kept me on edge till the very end.

He’d broken her down, shattered her, then put her back together again.

It is rare when a sequel can surpass the first book, equal footing yes, but to exceed book one doesn’t happen often. R.E. Hunter has accomplished that feat. If you haven't yet picked up this series, what are you waiting for? Get to it!

“My home’s right here, Embry…As long as you’re there, I’m home.”

She was running toward her future. He was running from his past. When their worlds collided, nothing could prepare them for what was to come.

Reeling from Luke’s betrayal, Embry Jacobs is lost and looking for answers. His lies have ripped them apart, forcing her to question everything she thought she knew about the man she loves. But to give Luke another chance, she’ll have to forgive his lies and risk her already fragile heart.

Luke Brody’s past has finally caught up to him — in more ways than one. After losing the only woman he’s ever loved, he’ll do anything to get her back. But when he finally has the chance to make things right, unforeseen circumstances threaten to tear them apart once more.

When the truth comes out, will it set them free or break them both?

Book 1: Undone
Five years ago, Embry Jacobs ran...

She ran from a past that still hasn’t let her go, but her dream of becoming a lawyer is stronger than her fear of confronting that past. Embry’s sole focus is to get through law school—with the help of her best friend, Morgan—and make something of the broken girl she became. Not thinking about falling in love, being in a relationship or even entertaining the idea of romance, Embry is moving forward one day at a time.

Luke Brody is charming and sexy, and has a past of his own. He wants nothing more than to put his demons to rest and move on with his life. But, when Embry enters the picture, is he destined to repeat those same mistakes?

Blindsided by their instant attraction, neither Luke nor Embry are prepared for the feelings they’re developing. But will it all be for nothing?

Will they let their pasts destroy them, or will they risk everything to fight for their relationship when it all comes undone?

Unbroken Excerpt

The arms around her tightened and their owner let out a low, sleepy groan. At the sound, Embry stiffened and her eyes popped open. Suddenly, the sweet warmth of his body was a searing fire burning her bare skin and sending her into a panic. Slowly dragging herself from his embrace, she sat up in the bed. Her gaze traveled the room, taking in her surroundings before looking down at herself and realizing her clothes were missing, save barely there bra and panties. Taking a deep breath, she bolstered her resolve and glanced over her shoulder. The man asleep next to her was on his back, arm thrown over his head, his hard-lined chest and abs on display.

Embry’s stomach dropped violently and tears began to fall freely from her eyes. Oh no. No, no, no.

Blog Tour & Review: Second Chance Love By: Laramie Briscoe

Unknown

Mistakes
Secrets
Second Chances

Sharon “Roni” Walker and Brandon “Rooster” Hancock have a past. As teenagers and young adults they were lovers, sneaking around, hoping not to get caught. When Rooster took the fall for her, in a crime he didn’t commit, a string of events were set forth that changed lives and ruined friendships.
Seventeen years later they are at a turning point. Secrets have been revealed, mistakes have been forgiven, and now it’s up to them to choose the type of relationship they want.
There’s a passion that burns bright, but at the same time there is a fear that it will all be taken away in the blink of an eye like it was before.
They have a decision to make—do they let go of what could be the happiest time in their life, or do they take a shot on a second chance love?

In Second Chance Love we finally get Rooster’s story.  For him everything has changed and we find out who he had buried deep inside of him, the man he really is.  He no longer is a Sheriff and he is trying not only mend his relationship with Liam, as well as his cousin Travis, but he is also trying to win back the one woman who he lost.  Roni.  Mistakes made in the past kept him from her but now he is going to get her back.  He is also trying to fit in with the club, as well as helping out when he can.  When he needs to tell Liam some information that is pretty bad he really is worried that he will once again lose his friend.  Rooster really is a good guy and fans of this series has seen him move from the total asshole he was in the beginning to the man he is today, a damn good one.

Roni knows that allowing Rooster back into her life could be the best thing that happens to her but at the same time, things from the past could destroy everything and she could end up heartbroken once more.  She loved Rooster seventeen years ago, and no one since has been able to make her feel the way she had when they were together.  They were intense, in love, and stupid.  She doesn’t want past mistakes or even future ones to ruin what they are trying to rebuild but what she needs to tell him could do just that.  Roni was broken down by her father years ago, but it is Rooster that can heal her.

I have liked the Heaven Hill series since the beginning and each book that Laramie Briscoe has written has made me like the series even more.  Second Chance Love has truly cemented me as a fan of her work and I am hooked on this series.  If you like biker romance, some alpha males and a feeling of family then this series is one that you need to put on your TBR lists asap.
