Anyone who gets betrayed on her wedding day by her dear friend and her fiancĂ© deserves a fresh start, a cosmic do-over. Leaving the past behind her, Indie loads up her slowly mending heart and heads for a new life in Florida. Adamant about staying single and being on her own, she’s not interested in anything but friendship, a new home, and life with no complications. That is until she crashes into the hotter-than-hell Gunner Stokes.
Busy with his brothers and their construction company, Gunner has no time for women. Plenty of heartbreak of his own has convinced Gunner to stay on track with business and his family. But when Indie literally crashes into him, she makes him second guess himself and everything he knows. Can Gunner save Indie from the trouble that she seems to find around every corner? Can Indie and Gunner heal each other from their pasts? Can Gunner convince Indie to take a chance on love?
Gunner had some of the elements of a good romance book that
I really love; romance (obviously), a sexy guy, some funny parts, a little bit
of angst and a little bit of suspense.
It just worked, and it worked for me. Was this the most amazing book I
have ever read? No I will be straight up honest and say it was not but it was
good.
I will admit at first it took me a while to get into
Gunner. It was a little slower paced
that what I have been reading lately and I am not sure if I had gotten used to
everything happening so quickly and not having to work for it and that caused
me to not be instantly hooked into the storyline or if it was just my mood at
the time but once I got invested into Gunner and Indie’s story it was one that
I really ended up liking. Like I stated
above it had that mix of romance, angst, hilarity, suspense and let me not
forget to take a moment to respect the hotness of Gunner himself.
Overall Gunner was a good start to the Stokes series, and I
am anxious to see what this writing duo has planned for Gunner’s brothers. I think you all might enjoy it as much as I
did, maybe even more.
