Divorced, Desperate and Delicious by Christie Craig
Divorced, Desperate and Delicious by Christie Craig is the first book in the Divorced series and it is absolutely captivating. Houston police officer Chase Kelly is injured and on the run. He has been set up for attempted homicide and drug possession. Taking his life for granted for the past two years, following the death of his wife, he realizes he wants to live after having a gun pressed to his temple by his dirty partner. His only escape is a forty foot drop off a bridge into the lake. He gets away with a bullet grazing his shoulder. Turning up miles from the river he takes refuge in a backyard.
Enter Lacy Macguire, a photographer and divorcee who has sworn off men…and sex. Her ex-husband was caught on video playing pin his secretary in the elevator; it made an internet debut. Not knowing how to have sex without involving her heart and not wanting to follow her mother’s footsteps (who has a trail of multiple marriages), Lacy is determined to remain celibate. Happy now living alone with her dog Fabio, cats Leonardo, Samantha and Sweetie Pie her world is about to take a very tempting and delicious turn.
The story is a fast paced, fun read. I spent an entire Sunday with the crazy cast of characters and could not put it down. It was witty, engaging, and romantic. Both main characters had emotional issues to deal with; hurt, fear, guilt. It was nice to see the love that developed between them and the healing they brought on. You could feel the sexual heat between the two. For a long time sex, like breathing, was just a basic need that needed to be filled for Chase. He forgot what it was like when emotions and intimacy played a role. Lacy never before feeling the sexual release only Chase can give her falls deep and fast.
